Best room we've had pretty much anywhere, so spacious and comfortable. It was only a stopover at a convenient break in a long journey but was terrific. Made very welcome and it's got a very cosy traditional bar. The dining was absolutely fantastic and excellent breakfast the next morning.

We have just been to the Nag's Head for lunch and we are full of superlatives ! The food was par excellance, the wine second to none and the service could not have been better. The only mystery is "Why was it so quiet ?" People are really missing out by not going here. It cannot be faulted.

Booked as in the area to do a brewery tour. Great location, good car parking facilities. Welcomed in at the reception. Friendly and very helpful with local info. Stayed in family room, family of four. Room was absolutely spotless. Very comfortable and size perfect. Everything catered for, tea coffee etc, biscuits and fresh fruit. TV and little sofa. Double bed...

Each time I have stopped-over here, either alone or with friends, the service and welcome has been warm and helpful. The food delicious at dinner and generous servings, freshly made, for breakfast. Dogs welcomed and easily managed.

We then tried the Woodman Inn at Branston, but it too ha d a little...

Booked a table for 7 for lunch, from entering restaurant to leaving it wasn't easy, very abrupt service, food however was very nice, but wouldn't go again due to attitude of main waiter/barman, shame for such a lovely place

Had a meeting today and Christmas Lunch. Food was excellent everything was hot and everyone cleared their plate. Service was good and polite it was as though nothing was too much trouble. We were not over faced with too much food there was plenty for everyone. The place is clean and tidy and looks like a good selection of ales...

First class food snd drink, just off the A1 near Thirsk. A foodies delight, unpretentious quality offerings at reasonable prices, great beers and an exceptional wine list. Also sells wine to take away. Some amazing offerings including a great South African red, available in large formats for a special event.

My friend and I booked one nights stay at the Nags head last minute, as an add on from a week in Northumberland, so that we could visit the nearby fountains abbey en route home. We booked through an online booking site and not directly with the inn. We thought nothing more of it until the afternoon of our stay....

Our visit was for a meal only. Lovely meal in cosy surroundings. The food was excellent, attention to detail first class. The menus are a bit difficult to understand but it adds a little twist to the night.
