After reading reviews before staying here we were a little worried about the standard of this resort. We were very pleasantly surprised as our beach front room was freshly painted with a very comfortable king bed. Our room was serviced every day and we had...More
Stayed for a week in the Rarotongan. If you are wanting a ground floor beachfront room make sure you request this as we were put upstairs and I did not realise that would happen.
Food is average and expensive. I would eat elsewhere.
It's such a shame that this resort's location is one of the best for enjoying swimming and snorkeling when parts of the resort are so run down. The general areas - pool, restaurants, lobby etc are in need of some urgent work though our room...More

Great location and the lagoon is beautiful, but the resort is very run down.

Hi...Rarotonga is very small so we only hired a car for one day and the rest of the 10 days just used local transport but of course it's handy to have one. We took a taxi to the Rarotongan on arrival and didn't prebook. We received excellent customer service at the Rarotongan. People were awesome. Just need to adjust expectations as they are on island time.
I was told about $40 but apparently you need to pre negotiate with driver on price before you get in, and also confirm with them if it is Per Person or for the whole taxi trip. I am thinking its just as cheap to book a car... More
I was told about $40 but apparently you need to pre negotiate with driver on price before you get in, and also confirm with them if it is Per Person or for the whole taxi trip. I am thinking its just as cheap to book a car from airport so we are thinking of doing this. The shuttle services arent cheap and are per person plus upto 1/2 hour waiting at other resorts etc.
