We stayed for one night at Claxton Hall Cottage, it was absolutely fine. Carol gave us a warm welcome,a pot of good coffee and cake. We had the four poster room with en-suite shower room, which was both spacious & spotlessly clean. We both enjoyed the full English breakfast with toast, this was of a high standard also. Thank you...

Have been coming here since 2002 and stay 3 nights each visit. Carol is the most fantastic host and we usually get to choose which room we stay in (my husband, myself and our 11 yr old daughter) and we always feel so welcome and at home here. The breakfasts are really filling and you can choose what you would...

My boyfriend and I stopped here last year. Originally had only booked for 1 night while on a roadtrip, but after booking problems with a previous B&B we phoned up Claxton Hall to see if it was possible to stay that night. The owner was a lovely, friendly lady and said it wouldn't be a problem, just turn up. We...

We found Claxton Hall Cottage via the internet when we were planning our stay for a friends wedding at the nearby Sandburn Hall. What a fantastic find, nothing was too much trouble for Carol. The welcome was lovely, with a pot of tea and homemade cake, we had only stopped off on route to the reception to drop our stuff...

Just returned from a weekend away in York. York is a lovely, lively place, so it was nice to stay at Claxton Hall Cottage for a relaxing break. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean and spacious with a four poster bed and a sofa and flat screen tv. The bathroom was spotless, although we could have done with...

We (couple + 4-month-old) stayed at Claxton Hall Cottage during the first week of November, and were very impressed. We do not normally stay in B&Bs, typically preferring boutique-style hotels, but we discovered after our daughter was born that many of the hotels we would have stayed at before are not accommodating to babies. What surprised us was that this...
