Room just ok. Clean enough but not luxury. Stuffy/moldy smelling if AC not on. Sewer type smell in bathroom. No toilet paper holder. None. Odd. Restaurant ok nothing special. Service at the restaurant poor. 40 min to get a breakfast omelette, 15+ min wait just to get a cup of coffee. Other tables served much sooner. Ditto dinner, took 20 min to get glass of wine, just forever to get 2 cold appetizers, maybe an hour? Ouch. Loud guests past 10:30pm, asked reception, they said they would check it out, nothing happened. Had to find party myself and ask the guests at 11pm to please be quieter. Won't be back for a room or the food...

We were booked in here for one night after a Caribbean cruise. I wish we could have stayed longer. The room was clean and freshly decorated with stunning sea views. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We had two dinners and a lunch in the restaurant. The food was all excellent and served in a stunning setting with sea views. The whole experience is made even better by the amazing, professional and friendly staff. From the staff at reception to the gardeners and bar staff everyone gave us such a warm welcome. Hopefully we can come back for longer next time.

We stayed at the Tradewinds hotel for 3 nights/4 days, our plan was to have dinner their once but the food and service was so amazing on our first night that we ate dinner there every night and had breakfast there every morning. The views from the Tradewinds dining area of Dickenson Bay and the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea are spectacular and no photo can ever do these views justice, especially at sunset. I was impressed with all the staff especially those on Reception who were proactive and always went the extra mile. We were celebrating a 50 year Anniversary and my birthday whilst we were there and our bed was decorated with the petals of local flowers in the shape of a 50. In addition the restaurant staff brought in a birthday cake complete with a candle and sang Happy Birthday as they came in. From our wonderful spacious room we had great views at the front of Dickenson Bay and the Caribbean and at the back we had great views of the Atlantic Ocean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we both slept very well every night and everywhere we went was very clean and well maintained. We walked into Dickenson Bay twice and it took around 15 minutes each time, we got a taxi back as the road is very steep and all uphill. We didn’t use the swimming pool. The Tradewinds proved to be an excellent base for exploring other parts of Antigua e.g. we went to Falmouth Harbour, English Harbour, Nelson Dockyard, Shirley Heights, the capital St John’s and the old and new cricket grounds. After leaving the Tradewinds hotel we joined a P&O cruise at St Johns on Arvia for a week.

I am so happy for the people that have had great experiences here but that just wasn't my fortune at Tradewinds. I want to highlight the positives first: I was greeted warmly by Kerisa and was later assigned my room by another staff member. I had lunch before being assigned which was wonderful, and as a vegetarian I truly appreciated the flavors they managed to achieve. Food and drinks generally were a hit and the hotel views were great. As for the room, it was not what had been shown to me prior by my course organizer which was beyond disappointing but I compromised for peace sake. That is until I noticed all my colleagues got AMAZING rooms which beach views while I had a "garden view" which were some potted plents. I came first by a day and even paid my down-payment first, but was given the worst room; which somehow I knew was gonna be bad by the receptionist's tone. I asked for another room to which the supervisor declined at first but I asked again 2 days later, after realizing I had been shortchanged. Mind you I booked 6 nights at this hotel. When I did get the room, (not the one I wanted but better than what I had before) I had to battle mosquitoes in large number in the bathroom after a long day of a business course. I won't give the details but the supervisor at the bar was rude to me saying she lent me an umbrella and I never returned it. The guys who borrowed it said she was extremely nice to them though I told her it was them and I had taken a towel to shelter and not the umbrella. I was promised breakfast as part of my stay but on arrival they said it wasn't included. I wanted to get a drink at the bar and no one was responding to my request. All I got was rolled eyes and mumbling. I had to ask 3 times apprehensively if I was going to get my request but the woman addressed her colleague as if I was bothering her and asked her aggressively if they had it in the back. I literally had to ask of they were really busy for her one of the to check her attitude. My experience is so different to my colleagues who all witnessed it, that they wondered if there is an undertone of racism as they are all not of African descent and found they were having a great time. I have to say that I'm the last person to make such a serious claim, but I was left to wonder. They felt to comfortable addressing me disrespectfully that I just want to leave. Sadly, I have 2 more nights here. This place has left me wanting my first trip to Antigua to be my last. Tradewinds, I have never been so belittled in any establishment that I have been to. I'm disappointed that this beautiful island could have such poor staffing as part of their tourism industry. Remember that staff member who greeted me warmly, she was Dominican. Go figure. Better training needed. I want to go home. I hope the Royalton which i head to on Tuesday, totally changes my experience in Antigua, because I've had enough of Tradewinds at this point.

Hello CindyannB2023, Thank you for choosing to stay at Trade Winds Hotel and for your positive rating of our property. We greatly appreciate your feedback on the aspects you enjoyed during your stay. We sincerely apologize that the initial room did not meet your preferences, but we were glad to be able to accommodate your request for an alternate room promptly. We take all guest feedback seriously, including your concerns about biased treatment based on race or class. We want to assure you that such claims are taken very seriously and are not reflective of our team's values or practices. It was disheartening to hear that you felt our team and Antiguans in general are racist, as this is far from the truth and careless to class an entire island in such a manner. At Trade Winds Hotel, our team members strive to provide an excellent service to all guests regardless of background. We are proud that our staff is often praised for their friendliness and helpfulness by the majority of our guests, as evidenced by the positive ratings we receive on various platforms such as TripAdvisor, Booking.com, and Expedia. While we understand that perceptions and experiences can vary, we want to emphasize our commitment to ensuring that all guests feel welcome and valued during their stay with us. We deeply regret any discomfort you may have felt, as it is our priority to exceed the expectations of all our guests - before, during and after their stay. Warm regards,

Wow, this small, but perfectly formed hotel, situated on top of a hill and overlooking the ocean and Dickenson Bay, is a delight. The perfect place to relax, rooms are large and comfortable and there’s a delicious restaurant with fantastic views, where the locals come to celebrate, special occasions. But Trade Winds’, greatest asset, is its wonderfully, warm and welcoming staff. Everyone from the lovely Arianne and Anna Louise in the restaurant to Kerisa at reception to the housekeeping and security staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our two week stay. We felt more like family than guests by the end. So glad we came here instead of one of the big all inclusives. We’d come back in a heartbeat!

Absolutely disgusted by the room which is of piss poor standard, extremely dated, musty and not cleaned properly. After a very long day of travel, I was met with no hot water and a broken shower. I am uncertain as to how this could have been missed by the hotel personnel. Are these rooms not supposed to be cleaned between guests especially the showers? Makes you wonder whether the rooms are actually cleaned. Ordered room service which took 1.5 hrs to arrive due to a glitch in their system where my order was either cancelled or not received ) It was only when I called to inquire about the status of the order did they apologize and inform me of the glitch. Upon receiving my meal, there was mold on the dessert. This is unacceptable, as such contaminated food should never ever be present in a commercial kitchen or served to anyone. Makes you wonder about the state and hygiene of the kitchen. Noise- the room that I am placed in is just off the reception and appears to be next to either a storage or maintenance room, as such I have been subjected; every now and then throughout the night to loud banging or movement of what sounds like heavy furniture All in all based on this preliminary experience I would give this place a flat zero and I am looking forward to leaving soon. First impressions are lasting and this is definitely a poor one.

Th Front Desk staff were all great and very helpful. Although the layout of the duplex is not convenient for someone staying alone the view was amazing - particularly the sunset. The location is convenient.

Fantastic location for view and chef produces exceptional food. Service is chaotic, orders forgotten, luke warm coffee and tea hot water gets delivered at times without requested tea bags. Having stated we had to have timely breakfast as had a taxi booked, it took 50 mins to get our eggs. No communication about services or times other than verbally on arival. Beach is a fair trek, did it quite often. Used to have a shuttle but no more. Potentially one could have fantastic time here if waiting staff were on the ball. Staff are friendly enough especially security and maintenance people. I know Carabean is laid back, just room for improvement.

Short stop on the way to, and from BVI. Easy ride from ANU. Good dinner and breakfast. Nice pool area. Helpful staff. Lovely views over the ocean from the restaurant Left cabin bag in storage whilst we went sailing. On return we were presented with a bill for US$25 PER DAY….. Yes US$250 to save taking it to BVI … OUTRAGEOUS. The manager reduced it to US$ 169 but I consider that still to be way over the top
