Detailed Reviews
The Fairmont Southampton (formerly known as the Southampton Princess) is a first class hotel with superior facilities and great service. The Fairmont Gold level is particularly nice since it includes breakfast, afternoon tea, happy hour with free drinks, and evening dessert with coffee/tea and water/soda all day.
The resort has shuttles to take you down to the private beach, which is steps from Horseshoe Bay beach, one of the best in the world. The on side restaurants are excellent, and the spa and gold facilities are nice (not a full length golf course, but a challenge and we'll maintained)
Service in the Gold lounge was impeccable, including Thomas who always had a fresh cocktail ready even before I asked.
The price is not low. Expect the resort fee, local taxes, and daily gratuity to add $100 per day to the listed room price. And when you order food and drinks by the pool, it adds up.
The outdoor pool is very heated in the off season, so fans if warm pools (90 degrees) will be happy. Towels are provided poolside but occasionally run out. Indoor pool is exclusive to spa guests until evening. Game room and small child play rooms are nice if you have little ones.
Very satisfied with the stay

My wife and I recently stayed at the Fairmont Southampton for our 'babymoon', as we are expecting later this year (Bermuda has become one of the choice locations for pregnant women due to its location and safety from Zika and similar diseases).
Despite visiting during their 'winter', we were very pleased with the weather (about 18 degrees and mostly sunny, though there were some rainy days), and thrilled with the resort. Even with the seasonal closures, there was plenty to do on resort, and getting off resort was easy as everything is quite close.
The private beach was amazing, and the outdoor spa area is well worth any additional cost (best views and incredibly relaxing). The food was excellent, and the servers really make an effort to remember you and get to know you, which given my food allergies was reassuring and appreciated. Merwyn at the Boundary sports bar was especially helpful.
It is expensive, but that is Bermuda, not just the Fairmont.
Overall we had a fabulous trip and will be returning - shout out to Dave from engineering for helping to make our stay so enjoyable!

Great location and views and excellent staff and service with a lovely atmosphere.
Our only niggle was that no water is provided free in the room, you have to pay $6 for a medium size bottle. The government advice is to boil water before drinking so we felt this is not acceptable. When asked we were told that there is a free water cooler in the lobby, but this is not mentioned in the room. A small but important thing. Very good bar with live music some nights and a great atmosphere except the acoustics make it very noisy.

Dear Jenny C, Thank you for taking the time to share your review, your comments are very much valued. We are incredibly sorry to learn of the shortfall listed as we do offer a special brand of bottled water, along with a mini bar and snacks at a cost in all guest rooms. However, we also offer complimentary water in our resort lobby near our front desk reception. We appreciate your feedback and will be sure to highlight this better for our guest in the future. We are thrilled to hear you had a great time at our Jasmine Lounge and bar and had the chance to enjoy live, local entertainment. Thank you again for your feedback, we do hope to have the immense pleasure of welcoming you back soon! Best Regards, Jasmine Furbert Guest Relations Manager

We travel often and travel well, and the Fairmont Southampton is by far the most hospitable hotel in which we've ever stayed. Everyone went above and beyond to be helpful and ensure our stay was perfect. The gold floor is lovely and well worth the expense. Our fellow travelers did not upgrade and ended up spending more in the end than we did in terms of food and amenities. Kierra Simons and Bryan Place made our stay especially wonderful. The Fairmont is lucky to have them on staff.
I removed one star due to the age of the decor and amenities along with the noise level. The hotel needs a top to bottom renovation with significant sound dampening between rooms.
It should be noted that the property is not beachfront. A shuttle is needed to take you back and forth.
One note of caution. Avoid Smatts for scooter rentals, even though they are recommended by the hotel, unless condescension and shushing while speaking are your jam. Twizy and Oleander are much better options.

Dear DeniseWC, Thank you for taking the time to share your review, your comments are very much valued. We are thrilled to hear that your stay reflected the level of service we strive to provide. It is always a pleasure to have good feedback from our guest and to recognize our team member’s efforts. Upgrading to our Fairmont Gold Floor is such a great benefit. Guest staying on this level will receive daily complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon tea, evening canapes, sweet offerings and honor bar. Not only will you enjoy these benefits, it is the highest floor offering the most breathtaking views with a great team that anticipates every customer’s needs. We are sorry to learn of the shortfalls experienced during your stay as we try our best to provide a luxurious experience for all of our guest. With being the largest resort in Bermuda, some of our amenities such as our beach and golf course are about a 7 minute walk. All resort amenities are located on our property and majority of our rooms are ocean front. However, for the convenience of our guest, we offer a complimentary resort shuttle that runs every 5 minutes to all areas of our resort. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to pamper you with the luxury and comfort you deserve on your next experience with us. Best Regards, Jasmine Furbert Guest Relations Manager

We scored a terrific deal on the annual Bermuda pink sale. This resort was a natural choice because of the many on site restaurants, pools, and other kid friendly ammenities. While the website boasts heartily about its family friendliness, it feels like a bit of a facade when you get down to it. We called ahead by a week and asked to have a mini fridge, cot, and microwave in the room - no problem, we were told. However, upon check in (and we weren't prompt by any means), they just looked at us like... fridge? What fridge? They brought one up. Then the cot. And the microwave... a day later.
Queries about the hotel or services at the concierge were met with a similar stare before a moderately unhelpful response. The indoor pool is open to children only after 630pm... a little strange, since that's nearing bedtime for kids. The tot pool outdoors was frigid while the resort pool was bathtub warm.
Other little things frustrated on this vacay. Asking three times (many hours apart) to have housekeeping restock tea in the room. Being asked by the beach staff to move so they could finish setting up the beach chairs (it was 10 am). No answer when calling for a shuttle pickup from the beach. No water at the convenient water stations (not so convenient this way).
There's a great toddler room for anyone with small kids. A climber, small slide, playhouse and cute toys occupied my youngest. But the "games" room for older children and teens is sad - a broken basketball game, a worn ping pong table with a single deflated ball, and a pool table with only one cue. Very neglected and not a lot of fun. A lot of the pics online are clearly old and don't reflect the current state of the hotel.
However, the proximity to the beach is undeniably fantastic. The private beach is great for wading in the waves while the next-door public beach is good for beach combing. We did have a little bit of an issue with the volume of portugese manowar jellyfish that washed up occasionally, but the staff keep the private beach clear of them.
The hotel is clean, smells good, and is generally a good value for the very expensive country of Bermuda. Food selections are fine (some of the more fun options are closed in winter) but we loved the wahoo tacos at the sports bar. Overall, I am not sure I would return to this location, but as it is slated for closure and a major reno, it doesn't much matter.

Stayed here over New Years and over a week.
Amazingly friendly staff throughout the stay. All so friendly.
Hotel is overdue a refurbishment which is expected to kick off in early 2020 and will really restore this beautiful property to top condition which it deserves as some of the rooms are now very tired and a bit dated.
Fantastic views from top floors but some of the lower floors, with internal view not great.
Upgraded to the Gold Club sixth floor and well worth it as generally breakfasts and food reasonably expensive.
The beach is a very short shuttle spin from front of hotel which in turn is a 60 second walk from the famous Horseshoe Bay beach!
Spa pool access available to all guests after 630pm.
Twice daily ferry into Hamilton, and well worth figuring out the local bus service as makes the whole island very accessible!

I’ve turned to Willow Stream Spa recently as a place to relax from stress on many fronts. I have been extremely pleased with the staff and treatments that I’ve had while at Willow Stream.
Of particular note, is Mahesh. He is polite, professional, extremely accommodating and always makes one feel at ease and comfortable.
I arrived for treatment recently and was drinking some water and mentioned that I had not eaten for the day. Mahesh asked me if I wanted some granola bites and then got them for me and when I had finished eating them and we were deciding on which oils to use, he could sense that I needed some water after consuming the granola bites. So he proceeded to get me some water. I could then get settled for the treatment to begin. Mahesh is definitely first-rate.
What is also nice about Willow Stream is that one is able to use the spa facilities after enjoying your treatment. So one can spend the entire day relaxing in the sauna, steam room, pool, jacuzzi or simply just lounging in a chair and looking out at the South Shore.
You will definitely enjoy Willow Stream Spa if you go.

We stayed here the days following Christmas after staying at the Hamilton Princess earlier in the week. It's further away from the city, but there was always entertainment and things to do hosted by the hotel. I recommend calling or checking in with the hotel prior to your visit to see all the free (or not free) events - things like a morning walk, a tour, family golf class, free yoga classes, smores making, etc. That made it the perfect place for the winter, when there may not be a lot of events around, and for families, when you'll have a lot more downtime. The hotel also has great amenities like an indoor slightly heated pool, a game room, movies, dance classes in the ballrooms, etc.
It also offers easy access to watersports and beaches, so when we come back in the summer (which I hope we will!), we are definitely staying here! The rooms were also large and airy, perfect for the humid Bermuda weather.

Room and bathroom were always clean, the hotel is very large and thank goodness there is a shuttle system that takes you to restaurants along the property and down to the bus stop and beach. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We did research on what travelers said and must see places - unfortunately a lot was closed for their winter season. I didn't expect that. Too cold to swim. We did enjoy the heated indoor pool at night and the hot tub.

We were excited that book our Bermuda trip and stay here during the off season . We thought it would be wonderful to have the first class hotel to ourselves . We didn't count on there being nothing much to do in this location and having to arrange our own tours since the concierge was less than helpful. The Spa too was a disappointment . It was difficult to get an appointment since most staff were not working . And the staff was a bit odd rather than helpful . Last someone should tell the hotel that cold air-conditioning in the cooler months is not necessary. We in fact mentioned this to the hotel who frankly were a bit rude saying they knew that and would get to it. Sigh . Not what we hoped.
