We were lucky enough to secure a room in Mauricio's large apartment in Miramar when we visited last April. It may be a short way from the centre of Havana but it's easy to get a taxi into town (5-6 CUC) and it's a short walk away from two of the coolest venues in town - the Fabrica de Arte...

Of all the casa's we stayed at in Cuba this was our least favorite. Yes the view is nice, yes the room is huge, yes the "private" balcony attached to the room is convenient and yes being a bit outside of Habana Vieja in the embassy area was interesting, but there are also a lot of cons. We had already...

recently travelled to Havana - it was my first trip and was travelling solo thus so fortunate to stay with Mauricio he and Sara are very pleasant and welcoming and Mauricio has interesting stories and helpful tips, the two maids (Zoila and Carmen) are also lovely and when I asked to borrow an iron, Carmen ironed my blouse for me...

We stayed at Casa Bellavista March 2016. Mauricio and Sara are fantastic. Lots of tips and very interesting and helpful hints and conversations. Cuba is tough if you're not on a tour and they helped us in many ways to deal with the bureaucracy. Their casa is in Miramar, which is a wonderful area of Havana - not old Havana,...

We spent four nights at casa Bellavista and we can really recommend this place. The location is amazing, penthouse with a large private terrace with an amazing view on Havanna and the Ocean. You feel like on top of the city. The location is safe and much more comfortable than in the old town, because you get to see more...

The Bellavista is located on the top floor of a rather non descript 9floor apartment building. It is a penthouse in which the elevator takes you right into the apartment. The views are spectacular and is a great spot to stay just on the border of Vedado and Miramar districts of Havana. There are two rooms available with both having...

My partner and myself stayed in this casa at the start of December 2014. Mauricio was an incredibly welcoming gentleman, and the location of the casa helped me to ease into the location (it was my first trip outside of Europe and I wasn't quite ready for the hustle and bustle of central Havana). The casa is a little out...

He is also a huge Beatles fan and really helped me out while I was in Havana. Much better than any hotel, he really looks after you. Make sure you go to the John Lennon statue and get Mauricio to give you the history about it first.

Mauricio has a perfect apartment on the top floor of the building with 2 separate rooms. From the beautiful terrace, which has unique Cuban furniture, you can enjoy not only splendid view over the harbor but also fresh Atlantic breeze. The apartment building is located in Miramar district, that is very safe and quiet. It is located within 5 minutes...

My friend and I were referred to Mauricio's Casa by a coworker who stayed there last year. Unfortunately, he was already booked. However, he not only put us in touch with a friend as an alternative place to stay, but invited us over for a coffee just to meet us and offer some advice. Once in town we took him...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is a marvellous casa partcicular offering a large master-bedroom, and one of the best private terraces in Havana, looking out across Havana Bay, which makes up for being out of Old Havana. The owner Mauricio speaks great English and is a charming "hablador" (talker) who will give you some interesting insights into Cuba. ... more   less

“Don't go to a hotel, but better to chose a casa particular in Cuba. Hotels are very expensive and famous for their bad service.”
