Sol Palmeras is often commended for its cleanliness and the diligent upkeep of its rooms and common areas, though some guests have noted areas for improvement around the pool. The staff's friendliness and attentiveness are regularly highlighted, although there have been occasional service hiccups. Visitors' impressions of the rooms are mixed, citing both renovations and some shortcomings. While the hotel's location garners praise for its stunning views, opinions on value are divided, with some criticisms aimed at the food and facilities. The atmosphere, buoyed by lively entertainment, is a standout feature, and the amenities, especially the beach, are generally well-received despite minor issues.

I went to Sol Palmeras with my husband and two children, ages 9 and 13. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every moment of our stay there.
The hotel is old, but well maintained and very clean. All common areas and the garden were clean and tidy at all times. Our room was spacious and renovated, but it could use additional paint touch up and a better sleeping arrangement in the sitting area. The balcony was big and we had a pool view, which was amazing! The bedding was pristine clean and the room was swiped and tidied daily, with fresh towels provided when we needed. The maids were friendly, polite and hardworking.
The food was good, and there was always a good selection of fresh salads, fresh fruits, cheeses, bread, pasta, pastries, wood oven baked pizza, eggs in different ways, pork, tuna, burgers, french fries, steamed veggies, sea food etc. The snack bar offered burgers and sausages, with salads and bread during the day and the ice cream stand offerred an excellent ice cream. There was always something to eat and drink (variety of juices, coffee, tea, excellent white wine). We are not big on alcohol or cocktails, so I can't comment on the selection.
The pool area is great, with lots of activities for kids and grown ups: ping pong table, volleyball and basketball, zumba and water aerobics classes, line dancing, kids activities and games with animators. Clean beach towels were provided daily.
The best part of the resort is definitely the beach - white sand and shallow, clean and warm ocean, perfect for relaxation and having fun. Animators were engaging the guests with stretching exercises, line dancing and beach volleyball.
The staff all over the resort was polite, welcoming and professional, going out of their ways to make our stay enjoyable.
The highlight of our vacation was snorkeling in the Bay of Pigs with Alejandro. We highly recommend it as it was perfectly organized, with great transportation to and from the location (2h drive in each direction). We had two snorkeling sessions to explore corals and the colorful wildfile in the bay, and to see the shipwreck which was a further away from the shore, and finally had a lunch at a traditional restaurant.

Nice place and fantastic beach.Staff is amazing especially Barbara in the Buffet section. She provided the service with attention and care. The food is the best you can get in Cuba. Locally caught fish was natural and French. Reception is open for selling extended stay till 3 pm if your flight is late. You can still use for free a shower room , wifi , buffet and drinks if you flight is late and you bus is picking you up late in that day , past 12 pm which is the check out time.

It has been five years since then, but now we were able to return to this beautiful hotel for the fourth time. The hotel is a permanent fixture in Varadero and they are now systematically carrying out renovations. Despite having "only" four stars, the hotel is very popular compared to five star hotels because of its very wide beach, large swimming pool and facilities such as the sauna and entertainment as well as its central location. In Cuba, there is currently a major shortage of various products due to the aftermath of Covid and the ongoing embargo. Nevertheless, the kitchen succeeds in presenting various dishes in the a la carte restaurants as well as offering a wide choice in the buffet restaurant. The latter is very large and can feel a bit busy when fully occupied (as in almost every all-in hotel), but tables are cleared quickly and drinks are served at the table. It happens that a waiter in training only speaks Spanish, but then you ask a colleague to be sent and someone who speaks English comes. There are several bars (pool bar, 3x lobby bar + cocktail bar, bar on the smoking terrace and a bar near the BBQ (close to the beach - bars on the beach itself have been banned by the government for some time). The rooms are quite spacious and tidy. with good air conditioning and mini fridge. If you want to be very quiet, you can consider taking a bungalow (I have not been in it myself), otherwise it is a room in the main building Take a room on the first floor (on the ground floor) because then you can go directly from your room / terrace to the swimming pool area. A free train runs every hour, except Thursday, to the nearby Plaza Americas (shopping center). /off bus stops at the entrance of the hotel and costs €5 /P/day and then you can go to the dolphinarium, the marina with shops, a nature reserve, a cave or the center. You can also wait the entire ride - the bus drive in a loop. If you have any questions you can always go to "customer relations", there is a separate office near the lobby, they have a solution or answer to (almost) everything. For questions about matters outside the hotel, there is daily (except rest day) representation for TUI guests from a perfect Dutch-speaking hostess who is very helpful. The hotel offers 10 hours of free internet per day (ask for ww and pw once at the lobby) but it is not as fast as we are used to and some sites do not open due to "copyright problems" - read: embargo. It didn't bother me, but it did bother our son with some games. Webmail, FB and reading the newspaper work fine! What is striking is the smile and customer friendliness of the employees, (almost) everyone is very helpful. A tip for those who go: take enough € with you in small denominations and do not exchange too much into Peso (and certainly not at the state exchange offices, but ask the employees, their rate is always better). Everywhere you can pay in €... but if you go to the dolphinarium: it is better to pay in Peso, otherwise you will pay too much.

I want to express my gratitude to the hotel
To a wonderful holiday! Let's start with the fact that we were in October blackout with lights, and the hotel tried madly to please every guest to be comfortable. Further down the rooms, we drove a big company, of us two families lived in bungalows, updated, excellent, quiet, relax, others in the main building, there rooms are directly modern. Cleaned well, every day, which pleased that in every room there is an iron, iron board, safe is mandatory, and no one, as many write in other hotels, that something took staff, the like was not even close. We left even some things behind ourselves. And in general, if you have the opportunity, take, or leave around the county there medicines, with this great tension in the country, it is possible to bring things some of your own, chocolate... people there will welcome everything, especially those who do not work directly with tourists.
The beach is chic, the sunbeds are always enough for everyone, on the beach constantly Activity , Alex lights up , Mario saves 😀, lifeguards are keeping a close eye on the holidaymakers . Near the beach snow bar with delicious sausage grill, ice cream is also very delicious like ours, drinks.
The food was very pleasing. Always in the range of meat products, fish, seafood, cheeses, avocado, papaya, lots of pizza, omelets, vegetables boiled, stewed, even babies have something to feed, mashed potatoes are awesome, meatballs. Alco drinks - tequila, rum, excellent quality wines. Coffee shop is cool, coffee fire. 24-hour lobby bar with drinks - everything pours river in excess (bring thermal mugs) . The hotel is definitely worth a visit. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Once again, we're at Sol Palmeras. Holidays in 2023 were great, this was not our first trip to Cuba, so there is something to compare. When planning a holiday for 2024 without hesitation or hesitation chose this hotel again and did not miss, compared to 2023 there were a number of positive changes: the quality of food in the general restaurant improved, there were fewer queues, there were no empty trays, tourists did not wait for another tray to arrive. The Internet now works all over the territory including the beach and it's less "out." But that's not the point, we were going to the ocean, and it's perfect in this hotel. A gentle entrance, crystal clear water, maximum number of sunbeds, there was no problem with them at all. We had rooms in the main building with access directly to the pool, the bed linen was changed every day, it's boiling white. The room and shower were functioning properly, as was the air conditioning. Things to do for all tastes, late-night shows are hot and always different. Bartenders are fast, friendly. The hotel is designed for relaxation and relaxation, wellness for the whole upcoming year and of course we will soon book the August 2025 Vacation Package.
Couple of remarks: please pay attention to the cleaning of the beach, you can clean previously washed ashore algae, in 14 days never walked grader to collect it.

My husband and I flew to Cuba for the first time, we had a private transfer, we arrived at the hotel at about 20:00, and quickly got room 428, first line bungalow. The main building is about a 5-minute walk. The room has 2 contacts: living room and bedroom. We had a shower in the bathroom. The room was a little tired, but its proximity to the ocean forgave everything. They cleaned every day, did not turn the swans around (gifts and $1 were left regularly). The bungalow has 2 air conditioners, an iron and a board. 2 umbrellas (very neat).
The ocean is simply magical, I have never seen a better coastline. The entrance is gentle, the water is crystal clear, it was a little stormy on the last day. The sun loungers are mostly in the middle of the beach, but we rested more on the outskirts, near our bungalow. Internet is available with a password (given at the reception) and can be found in the lobby, so we ended up buying a local SIM 8G for 1,500 pesos ($7.5)
The biggest problem of this hotel is the food, it is very “for everyone”
The food had a specific taste, we went to Ala-carte restaurants for dinner, I really liked the Latino and grill (Mexico) I highly recommend it.
We went to the lobster dinner, $15 per person, but you can only pay with their card, so we had to buy it.
Alcohol is good, they make delicious cocktails, we really liked the Daiquiri.
Before the trip, I read a lot of reviews and chats, many negative reviews, in my opinion, are not justified, the hotel is good, I would return to it. And one more thing about “gifts” to Cubans, most of all they love money and sometimes they don’t even take gifts (there was an unpleasant moment). Next time I definitely won’t bring any more gifts, everyone is happy with a tip.
We went on a catamaran excursion from Pegasus for 75 euros (only Pegasus needs euros), the rest of the payments are in dollars and pesos, at the moment the exchange rate is $1 200 pesos.
We took a taxi to Varadero, and with an individual guide to Havana, we had no luck with the guide, speaks Russian poorly, half of it is incomprehensible and is not a patriot at all, instead of a tour of Cuba we received an educational program about emigrating to the USA...
To summarize: the hotel is good, the ocean is wonderful, Cuba makes you fall in love with it.

Simply fabulous!
1) Modern reception and hotel hall, although air conditioning is a little low during the day, but great at night.
2) Modern and spacious room, without any damage. Air conditioning working very well in the room and adjustable with a modern display. Balcony with two comfortable chairs to relax at the end of the day overlooking the back, creating an intimate and private atmosphere. Daily cleaning and water replacement in the room, as well as daily cleaning and changing of towels in the bathroom.
3) Large swimming pool, but shallow (1.50 m) and with a pleasant bar.
4) Green space surrounding the hotel that is pleasant to enjoy and stroll around, with several themed restaurants (Latin, Italian, fish/seafood, oriental) in addition to the daily buffet. Large and varied food, whether international (pizza, pasta, fries and ice cream every day), or local (natural juices, fruits, grilled vegetables, 2 to 3 different types of fish and meat to grill on the spot) - the The seasoning level is very basic, but it is understandable, as this is a cuisine for different cultures and it is difficult to please everyone.
5) As a point of improvement, outdoor themed restaurants could have a mosquito control system, such as electric diffusers or something simpler like citronella candles, which would make the dining experience more pleasant.
6) Several bars spread around the venue with a variety of drinks - there was never a shortage of rum and piña colada. In 8 days, there was only no mojito 1 day.
7) I couldn't help but comment on the beach...simply the best beach we've ever enjoyed! No waves and long distance with very shallow depth, super blue/transparent, no stones or algae. Extensive beach, with sun loungers and parasols included in the stay.

Holidaying with friends in late September 2024. The hotel fully confirms its 4 stars.
In terms of staff and service - the staff is polite, always smiley, cleaned daily, left to the waiters sometimes for tea - in return I was brought every morning either bananas or avacado or those fruits that were not on the tables and the table was always reserved for us) At the bar if you tip, beer is always without foam and cocktails are beautifully decorated, it is nice, while tipping 200 pesos total
On food - maybe we got into a "good season" (two years ago according to friends there was no such abundance), but we had a huge selection of dishes, pork, beef, chicken, many species of fish and tuna including, hamon. It wasn't mango season for fruit, but there were pineapples, watermelons (that's what I ate, I didn't taste the rest). There were avacadoes, too. Worried that the kitchen wouldn't like my husband, he was very choosy about food (the chef of the restaurant), but he was satisfied and happy 😃 The only thing that didn't like the food in the restaurants under the reservation (Chinese, Mexican and Italian), there was rather all the things that didn't arrive in Swedish and from that cooked, and the service in them is long. There are lunches and noon in separate cafes on site, or toast or barbecues or hamburgers. Ice cream is free from 11 to 5.
By pool and ocean, the ocean can't be translated into words, you just have to see it. The beach is clean. At the expense of the hotel's large coastline, there has never been a large crowd. The pools were cleaned every morning. There's always a lifeguard on the beach.
In animation, it's a suupee! If you are on the beach, in the morning aqua aerobics, volleyball, charging, free catamarans, kayaks. Company sailing for 40 minutes 25 bucks each, we didn't take that) If you're at the bass, it's also charging and dancing.Basketball, football and volleyball on the premises. It's always an animation for kids in the evening, and I haven't seen it, so I won't tell the kids how interesting they are. Every night there's a performance of dance groups, in-water shows, beach parties. There is even an indoor club, opens from 23 to 01, Russian music is also played)
The tours were driven by themselves, or by the operators, so they learned and saw much more
In general, holidays in Cuba do not compare to Turkey, Egypt, or the UAE, this is definitely its Cuban vaibe. We need to visit once and feel this atmosphere!
Photos don't add them and so many)

The hotel is not bad, the food is varied, not super tasty, but you can choose on the buffet line, in the morning there is a long line for omelette, you have to wait for about 10 minutes, at lunch and dinner there is also a line for meat and fish. The rooms are of course already tired and require restoration and renovation, but they have everything you need. We changed the offered room to a bungalow with an additional charge. Because the view from the room was to the backyard, where there was garbage and construction and it smelled bad. And the bungalow has its own small terrace, table and chairs, you can sit and get some air, it’s less than a minute’s walk to the ocean. Walking from the main building is inconvenient and far away. Therefore, there is a big plus for a bungalow if it is located in zone 1-2. There are only 5 of them, and the farthest ones are located a bit far away, making it difficult to walk to the main building in the heat. Cleaning every day. Wi-Fi only works on the ground floor in the reception area, it doesn’t reach the rooms, much less the bungalows. therefore, it is better to buy a SIM card with the Internet, it can be purchased at the Plaza shopping center, it’s a 10-minute walk from the hotel. 16 GB costs $30, if necessary, you can extend it for another 16 GB for $10. But for me, when actively using the Internet, watching videos, using Instagram, listening to music and distributing to other people, this tariff was enough for 10 days.
There is animation at the pool and on the beach, the animators are funny and dancing)) but there is not enough music on the beach, like at the neighboring hotel. There, music plays on the beach all day and the atmosphere of relaxation is different.

Very good hotel service has many activities for adults and children, the beach is something amazing for its warm water and fine sands, you can see tropical fish in this case you must pay for this water activity or wear your personal mask as it is not included in the package. I want to reaffirm that the massage place is quite hidden difficult to find, I could appreciate that the GYM , the shops, the Exchange House has large and strong colored posters easy to identify and well located, but the massage room is behind a wall on the way to the rooms and little visible the poster is small acrylic material with small letters impossible to see. I suggest putting up a large sign with a red color advertising this service. The girls were super professional we were my mother and I super satisfied with the service, I think tourists do not arrive at the hotel reading the posters mentioning these services which is located in a column in the lobby of the hotel , the tourist must stop by and immediately see the ad (this is marketing ) no one on their vacation reads the details of a poster found in a column.
I am a regular client of the hotel and we were given a VIP meal, these suggestions were noted by 3 people who work in the customer service office, at various times I tried to contact the Spanish manager but he was not available, I hope on the return of next year to be able to see the poster of the massage parlor in a suitable location.
Thank you.
