Sol Varadero Beach is lauded for its pristine amenities, including well-kept beaches and comfortable rooms, although occasional shortages of beach towels have been noted. The hotel's vibrant atmosphere, fueled by live entertainment, is a hit, though some guests find it overly repetitive. Impeccable cleanliness is a standout feature, with travelers consistently praising the spotless environment. Situated conveniently close to local attractions, the hotel also boasts commendable service, with staff members earning accolades for their hospitality. However, opinions on value are divided, and while the rooms are generally appreciated for their modernity and comfort, a few guests have mentioned maintenance and noise issues.

We were in Cuba for the first time and we really enjoyed it! The hotel is excellent (16+, which adds to its points), lovely and friendly staff. A special thank you to Ernesto (a fellow Russian speaker) helped and suggested if there were any questions. Guys at bars and restaurants can speak minimally in Russian, at least say "hello", "thank you-please", "here - with you", "beer", etc. The property is large, well maintained, very beautiful, all in flowering trees and bushes. They kept seeing gardeners cleaning, watering, cutting things. The room is generally good, spacious, the mattresses are comfortable, the room has blankets, TV, refrigerator (killed), hairdryer, iron, ironing board, safe, umbrella. They cleaned their rooms every day, and they did the wet cleaning. Hand and foot towels were changed every day, but baths were changed only on request. Beach towels got without problems (huge, terry), you could change them if necessary. Food - it may not have been great for more sophisticated travellers, but we are not choosy. Seafood was every day (fish, mussels, just boiled, in pasta, in sauces, salad with small octopuses), for meat of course a little sad (chicken always, pork occasionally, once beef, but very tough). Many slices (very delicious Parmesan), from garnishes to basic rice, beans, chickpeas, sweet potatoes. From the vegetables we used to - cabbage, carrots and tomatoes, you could mix them, dress them to your taste (there were racks of sauces) and make salad. Ready-made salads, too. For breakfast - omelet or eggs of choice, bacon, sausages. The hotel has 4 a la carte restaurants, with different cuisines (Cuban, Italian, Mexican and international), but there the food was not much different from the main dining room)) Following the advice from the reviews took with them thermal mugs - very convenient, because they pour with them in bars only small cups. Canadians used to walk around with litre thermoses at all - that's what I understand experienced people)))) Beach, ocean, nature - everything here is super. The center is 5-10 minutes by taxi ($10), the gift market is 20 minutes away. The price is the same. We didn't take the bus, even though we were told he did. The hotel has an animation/disco every night. We'll definitely go back to Cuba, she just fell in love with herself! And this hotel, this is where I want to go back.
A wish for the hotel (if they read): to have a full-time photographer who for extra money will take good photos (discount in electronic format) and think about photo zones, I think this should be in demand. And also - next to the souvenir stalls (there is in the hotel) sit the girls who will weave afrocoats (there is such humidity, I wanted to weave them for the first time in my life, but I didn't find where)

I am Very Happy that I choose this resort. The Best Cuban Resort experience I have had! Staff - 9/10 - Food - 8/10 - Cleanliness 10/10 - Room Staff - 10/10 - Beach 7/10 - Resort Grounds - 10/10 - Entertainment - 8/10 - Bad experiences - Booked through Air Canada - 20 minutes before our arrival the Flight Attendant informed us that she needed to disinfectant us, proceeded to dawn a mask ,held up an aerosol can above our heads and walked the aisle spraying above our heads!! WTF No escaping that! Never again Air Canada. Cuba Car Rental - Should Not Charge you a $10 cash tip on demand when you rent. Tipping should be based on service and on return. (Scooter Rental) Tour Guides on Buses should not explain that we should Tip, because of low wages. Most Tourist I think Tip for good service, I certainly do. They did a great job!

I like my reviews to be honest, so try to take the emotion out of it, so here goes.

When we arrived at the hotel we were urged to attend the welcome meeting and I’m glad we did, because we were given lots of information that we might not have known otherwise. So definitely do that, particularly if you’re a Brit.

Rooms:

Basic, but clean, although I was shocked to only have a single sheet on the bed, there were however blankets in the room if required.

Rainfall shower was next to useless, but the handheld shower was nice and strong, so no issues.

Air conditioning was a bit hit and miss, but not too much of an issue.

There is an iron and ironing board, a safe and you are supplied with bottled water every day.

Unfortunately our room was on the top floor in the main building, and as all floors are open to the lobby, this resulted in the noise from the lobby bar echoing up into our room, so the room was constantly noisier than I would have liked, but it didn’t take us long to get used to it, and we were offered a change when we mentioned it to the TUI rep, but decided against it.

Food:

Main buffet restaurant always had something, particularly if you’re a fan of fish, but we did find it to be a little repetitive at lunch and dinner. Make use of the egg chef at breakfast, they will make sure your eggs are cooked to perfection.

Do make full use of the a la carte restaurants, my recommendation is definitely go to the Mexican, the food was amazing. Then I would rank the Italian as next, then the international restaurant. We didn’t visit the Cuban restaurant so I can’t comment on that one.

The snack bar is a welcome addition, as it’s a 24 hour service. You can find that in the Doble Play pool bar. It serves hot cheese and ham sandwiches, burgers, fries and pizza, although there was never any available when we asked.

Drinks:

They do a few cocktails but don’t tend to measure them so they can be a bit hit and miss, sometimes overpowered by rum. If you don’t like rum, you might be disappointed. Try the strawberry dacquiri, it’s delicious. And the draught beer is good too. For non alcoholic options, try the lemon juice and sprite.

Beach:

Beautiful beach, but as it’s on the Atlantic side, it can sometimes we quite wavy and have strong currents. We experienced both the calm gentle waves and the more aggressive ones, and neither put us off going in the water.

The rest:

Entertainment team tries to include visitors in some form of activity at least two or three times a day, they are a friendly bunch and we found we joined in more than we ordinarily might.

Pool towels are available whenever you need a fresh one, which is great, the only draw back is that you have to go to a hut to get one, so they’re not readily available at the pool.

Summary:

I think with a few little tweaks, this could give other local hotels a real run for their money, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and this was a nice cheap getaway for Christmas.

All in all, we had a fantastic time and would probably visit again were we to return to Cuba.

We stayed at this hotel for 12 nights at the end of October. To put it mildly, the hotel was very disappointing.
Food. As everyone writes, you won’t be hungry, yes, but the food is terribly monotonous and not tasty. Honestly, I really wanted to rip the chefs’ hands off and send them to culinary courses. So you need to be able to spoil even the simplest food. Not even the slightest variety - rice and pasta for lunch and dinner in various variations and terribly cooked, occasionally - some kind of worthless fish and constantly overcooked chicken, green unripe watermelons and the absence of other fruits except pineapple. After a few days of staying, we even ran out of eggs for breakfast, I wanted to ask - are you serious?!
The snack bar is also a quiet horror - a bun with a sausage without any sauce is called a hot dog, a bun with a raw cutlet and one slice of cucumber, again without sauce, is called a burger, the only thing that is more or less edible is a chicken sandwich and in addition to These delicacies of the kitchen were accompanied by unpeeled potatoes, tormented in vegetable oil until they became dry.
Bar. As for rum and cocktails - everything is fine, for every taste, but when the cheap Coca-Cola produced in Cuba disappears for 4-5 days, judging by the bottles, I again want to ask the question - are you serious?!
Numbers. The rooms are nice and well maintained, but the cleaning is simply disgusting. They periodically left chocolates and tips, twirled various figures on the bed and that was all. The towels were not changed even once in 12 days, a dead moth on the floor in the toilet spent all the days of our stay quietly and was not disturbed by cleaning, nor was someone else’s hair on the rain shower head in the shower room. The lack of a banal toilet brush or at least a hygienic shower to replace it also calls into question the star rating of this hotel. The icing on the cake was when, a few days before departure, we saw how the room was actually cleaned - a plastic bag was wrapped around the brush, apparently so that the brush would not get dirty when cleaning, and the maid swept our room with this plastic bag. Quiet horror
Getting beach towels is another quest, they were always missing. On the 5th day of our stay, we came to terms with this and stopped going after them, perhaps they appeared, of course, but in a 4* hotel, again, I don’t think this should happen.
Thanks to the company and the beautiful ocean for saving our vacation, but here in the review we are evaluating the hotel, and it is simply terrible.

The hotel greeted us with good news: for direct booking, we received an upgrade to an improved building located closer to the beach, and the possibility of late check-out. Along with the main, standard building, there is also a super-improved building with concierge service (at least that’s how it is presented), called the “house of astronauts” thanks to its unusual architecture, but it was closed for reconstruction. In general, the impression was that the hotel was undergoing a phased facelift. If you look at the photo from the website, it is “dressed” in red roofs, but in reality the gray color now dominates. The facades are being tinted and experimenting with colors. The corridors and doors of the rooms in the main building evoke memories of the eighties. I don't know what it's like inside.
The area is small, with only one pool, but it didn’t feel crowded. The area is well maintained. Through several passages in a small “dune” you can get to a snow-white beach with a smooth entry into the ocean. Reed umbrellas and sunbeds are arranged in three rows; there should be no shortage.
Overall we liked the room. As usual in Cuba, tea/coffee maker and robe/slippers were not provided. The safe was useful, the air conditioning worked well and was quite quiet. Two bottles of water were provided daily. There were some glitches: the lock in the toilet was broken, the telephone for communication with the reception did not work.
All inclusive system. The hotel's main restaurant operates as a buffet; two more restaurants are open for dinner by appointment. There are two bars with snacks and drinks. We found the quality and selection of food at the buffet to be decent. I remember the paella with lobster. Beer and wine were poured without any problems. Just remember when it comes to waiters that “a little dollar is better than a big thank you.” The hotel accepts only adults, there was a strong predominance of Canadians. In the evening - adult musical and choreographic animation, friendly and efficient service in the bars.

Arrived in the afternoon at the property we take the room, and as a welcome we are told that Wi-Fi is not available due to a failure that did not allow you to generate new accounts. So out of the world until the next day and unable to contact the guide. The hotel is not very recent, and far from European 4-star standards. Cleanliness is good and the staff is courteous and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable. Towel change not made in 4 days. The worst part of the stay is the quality of the food that I would call bad. The buffet offers a wide choice but all without flavor. The situation does not change at à la carte restaurants that offer the same dishes as the buffet passing them off as Cuban and/or international cuisine. The swimming pool has an open bar open 24 hours a day but even there the quality leaves something to be desired: drinks and cocktails of the lowest quality, the latter made only with syrups without the use of fresh fruit.
Pros: Great location and beach

We were 3 couples to visit the hotel the week of July 21 to July 28, 2024 and we can say we will never return. The staff were very unsmiling for the most part, after 9pm they rolled our eyes when asked for drinks. Very rare were the employees who offered us good service. In 2 rooms out of 3 air conditioning did not work, clean room but a little neglected. The wifi did not work even after several attempts to connect. The food was okay at the buffet but the à la carte restaurants really left something to be desired and the à la carte restaurant everything came cold. The sea was beautiful on the beach too, the pool was also clean and there was enough chair and shade in both places. Pay attention to your towels, he removes them from your chairs in your absence and then charges you $100 for 4 towels and no way to negotiate personal cold and arrogant, one of the men even called us a "puta". The hotel is well located to go out into the city and for activities, outside the food was very good and the city was nice to visit!

You are in the most beautiful place, idyllic beach.

The catering is very good, for an all inclusive. Great buffet, and nice restaurants. (the negative point is the air conditioning!! Much too cold for us, but obviously the Canadians had it rather well…)
For lunch we enjoyed the buffet just a stone's throw from the beach, open until 3 p.m.
The bars have good staff, who can make you great cocktails depending on who you meet.
Special mention for the beach bar which is at the top, plus right next door, you can ask for a coconut opened with a machete, the dream!

On the beach, it’s a dream. The idyllic postcard is right there, before your eyes. Some nice activities for those who wish to participate, and I recommend the little trip offshore in hobbies cat, to swim with the fish.

The musical entertainment in the evening is great, and changes every day, well done to all the artists!!

I tried the massages, which are definitely worth doing if you want to perfect your relaxation!!

For. Souvenirs to bring back in your suitcases. The city center is really not far away, 15 minutes on foot.

In short, great potential! A magnificent site!! Thanks to the team who are doing their best.

However, some points to improve for me:

-4 star hotel, but according to my requirements, to meet the standards, the condition of the room needs to be reviewed. Already when we enter, the door is in a deplorable state of decay, which surprised me and scared me a little. The room lacks charm, the cleaning is done without moving the furniture, and the walls are damaged. The shutter of the bay window was broken when we arrived, and we had to have it repaired in order to be able to leave by closing it.
The toilets leaked throughout the stay, we had to turn off the tap in the evening, to sleep without the sound of the flush which was perpetually filling.
The shower needs to be changed. Moldy joints, and 1 out of 2 pins missing from the shower head.
The sheets and towels were only changed once during our stay (10 days), and this was because we had left “a note” for the cleaning lady.
On the other hand, the bedding is TOP!!!

- ecology! Stop using plastic glasses and straws, obviously Westerners forget good manners and leave plastic leashes, cigarette butts, etc. in the sand!! Don't count on them to set an example. I found the behavior of the tourists simply shameful.

Varadero

Avoid at all costs!!!!

945066146

We booked this holiday as our belated honeymoon having got married at the end of covid we wanted to go to and experience it without any restrictions. We spent 3 nights in Havana and then 11 nights in Varadero.
Firstly Cuba and the people were amazing and we had an amazing time during our stay.
I echo the thoughts of other reviews (especially Samantha), this hotel is nowhere near 4 star I wouldn't even rate it a good 2 star 18 to 30 hotel.

On arrival we were shown to our room after the 4pm check time, as soon as we entered the smell was unbelievable, even the towels and bedding smelt as if they hadn't been washed for weeks, the bathroom wasn't clean and had mould and damp on the walls, we tried to make the best until we could speak to the Tui rep, and on the Monday after 2 nights in the we were offered another room, it wasn't much better but we accepted it at least it didn't smell.
The corridors and lifts were very tired and dated looked like they hadn't been painted or cleaned in year's.

The bedding was only changed when I took the bedding off and left it on the floor, same with the towels.

It took us 5 days before we got pool towels. After trying twice a day for 5 days.

The food was terrible lukewarm and tasteless, I wasn't expecting miracles as know they struggle to get hold of things but I was expecting it to be edible, and for the last 4 days no bread at all.

You get service at the bar if you stand with dollars or euros in your hand to tip.

We couldn't get into the safe one day to get our things out, somebody did come and fix it, we were told the batteries had ran out.

The last 3 mornings we were there, workmen woke us up before 9am banging on the walls in the next room, we tried to report this to reception no one answered the phone and when I went down to inform them I was told I should of rang down and then she just shrugged her shoulders.

On the last night and day where there to top hat on it all, we arrived back at our room on the last night to find somebody had been in our room and taken our electricity card, went to reception again totally uninterested, eventually sercurity came up with us, and nothing was taken but not the point, the next day on check out, we were accused of taking a blanket, beyond belief, didn't even know there were there it could been missing from the start not to mention the fact somebody had been in our room the night before.

I did speak to Tui when we arrived home and the customer service was no better, after initially being offered a small refund it was retracted an hour later, I was told because we moved room no compensation would given, absolutely shocking, not only would I advise avoiding this hotel I would avoid booking anything with Tui zero customer service on both parts.

The food at the buffet was good, but nothing fancy. The ice cream served as dessert was very good. The breakfast is good to excellent, and the positive points are the freshly made eggs and omelettes, yogurts, juices and fruits.
The flexibility in check-in and check-out were the highlights of the accommodation. The room I stayed in was impeccable, super spacious, clean, noise-free, very cozy, super comfortable, with a superking bed, a spacious and super clean bathroom, and as a bonus, there was a balcony overlooking the sea.
The bars open at appropriate times and serve a variety of drinks (beer, juice, mojito, cold coffee, pina colada, wine, etc.). I believe that the juices served should be natural.
Another positive point is the area provided on the beach with chairs and cover, in addition to the possibility of using kayaks and pedal boats available to customers. Furthermore, I just have to congratulate you on the service provided.
The resort's starting daily price is around 110 dollars (600 Brazilian reais) for two people in a room with everything included in accommodation.
