Have you heard of the Tainos? They were the indigenous inhabitants of Cuba, and were the first to discover the beauty of the waters of Varadero. With the simplicity of wellness as our hallmark and standing a few metres away from a vast beach, the Iberostar Tainos was designed in the style of a Caribbean village. Become a resident for a few days, immersed in a stunning natural environment including a cave with pre-Colombian paintings and the Varahicacos ecological reserve. The little ones will meet at Star Camp to laugh like never before while learning values and making new friends. If you like sport, you have dozens of options to choose from. If you want to unwind, you can enjoy live music every night. If the sea is more your thing, we have two important things for you: a welcome and congratulations.

Iberostar Origin Taínos is often lauded for its service, with many guests appreciating the staff's warmth and professionalism despite occasional disorganization. Set in a picturesque location, it offers a stunning backdrop of greenery and beaches. However, opinions on value are divided, as some find it economical while others point out extra costs.
The rooms tend to draw criticism for being outdated and not well-maintained. Although the resort's cleanliness and amenities generally receive positive remarks, with its beautiful beach and variety of food, the atmosphere's appeal seems to vary among travelers.

I stayed at this property with my partner in the New Year's week, overall, knowing the current condition of Cuba, we found ourselves discreetly, but certainly you should not expect anything that is described by the Francorosso catalog.
-Rooms: the structure is clearly dated and in our room we found worn taps and sanitary ware that nevertheless allow normal usability, what is more problematic is the lack of towels (general problem of Cuba) that not enough for all rooms never guarantee a complete set available.
- Cleanliness: the cleaning is not the best, but in the room the situation is better than in common areas. Nothing worse than other places in the world that are just as clean.
- Restaurant: Buffet scarce and monotonous, the embargo does not allow to import much so chicken and pork on the grill are the only certainty, compared to the Italian cuisine promised in the Francorosso catalog there is pizza and pasta corner that unfortunately has as toppings always and only tomato sauce (Cuban) and béchamel sauce.
-Animation: It's not a family village: it's mostly frequented by foreigners and I've seen very few children, the entertainment staff is local (who should be congratulated for the energy of the day group and the professionalism of the evening dancers) but I haven't seen any mini club this week. The only flaw is the post show where with the music there was no animator left and the theater emptied after a few minutes leaving the music on until 2 unnecessarily. About the Francorosso staff little to say, not received, out of three animators who had to be present at the structure we met only one at the aperitif in red (the only event organized: a dinner in which they served the leftovers of the previous days) and did not even come to talk to all the guests.
-On-site assistance and excursions: The assistant is prepared on excursions and busy, sometimes in search of his own gain, the excursion catalog however (albeit very characteristic) has considerable costs to be in Cuba.
-Sea: the sea is remarkable but it is not the Caribbean Sea (as described in the Francorosso catalogue), usable almost every day being the weather very variable and becoming prohibitive only when the wind has raised the waves a lot.
Ultimately the structure is an honest solution to visit the area and also enjoy the beach, but you have to leave without the expectations set by Alpitour. I recommend bringing cash as some cards do not have an agreement with Cuba and are therefore not accepted, I also recommend changing local currency with local people to use it then in case you want to eat or drink outside the facility (apply a favorable exchange rate compared to restaurants and bars).

We rested at the end of February 2024, lived in the main building on the 2nd floor. Everything in the rooms was in good order, clean, we booked double rooms, one was a double with a shared bed, the other with three separate beds. The room had a refrigerator, detergents, toilet paper, and iron. Wifi worked well. The audibility between rooms is tolerable, no one bothered us. Vacationers 80% pensioners are Canadians, 15% Russians, 5% others. Cleaning was done every day, towels were changed. Drinking water was added to bottles in the room. The hotel area is very clean, beautiful, and there are places to walk. There were always free sun loungers on the beach, it is better to change beach towels from 12 to 14, they are often not available until 12. We didn’t notice the big difference between the rooms in the bungalow and the main building. It was more convenient to live in the main building. The best bar is in the main building, coffee in the morning was made in a coffee machine, the best cocktails are made by male bartenders in the afternoon in the lobby bar. As for cocktails, there was everything: mojito, pina colada and daiquiri, only the cheapest pure rum is poured, the rest is usually not available, but there is champagne, beer, and gin always in large quantities upon request. The quality of the cocktails is average. The bar near the pool is always empty, usually only beer is available. The amount of tip does not really affect the service and quality of cocktails. In terms of food, there is everything you need, quite varied, grilled meat and fish every day, delicious ice cream, vegetables - eggplants, peppers, cabbage, hamburgers with cutlets are tasty, but without sauce, the sauce was taken from home, a variety of pizza. The staff at the cafe is trying hard. Everyone is friendly. Tips flow like a river, but they didn’t notice the difference in service with and without tips. Instead of tips, Alyonka takes chocolate with pleasure, they even asked us when they had already given it all away))). There is animation, every day there are concerts, a show program and, if anyone is interested, dancing. But the animation is monotonous. On the beach, locals sell rum, it’s cheaper than in the store, we took it for testing, we didn’t feel the difference - the quality of the rum was good. The beach is excellent, you can ride catamarans and sailboats with an instructor for free. Overall the price/quality ratio is excellent. We saw a couple of cockroaches, mosquitoes only in the evening on the street, there were none in the room. The telegram has a separate hotel channel where you can read everything in detail.

This is my second holiday in this hotel, the first was in 2022. First, I would like to address the hotel management with some comments and wishes: 1-Why is there still no Russian flag among the flags of other countries when entering the flagpole, because at least one third of tourists from Russia?; 2- install scales for tourists in the luggage storage room. Seems small, and very convenient for departing tourists to weigh their suitcases so that you can safely distribute the weight for the plane; 3-most importantly, pay attention to the attendance of the evening show INSIDE the theater. It's just impossible to be there watching the show! The spirit and heat there is unbearable, after five minutes sweat pours out streams from all the audience, but the artists are much more difficult! It makes fun of tourists and artists. Install air conditioning, please!!! Compare attendance inside the theatre and when the performance takes place on the outdoor terrace - the difference is huge!!! I hope something changes by my next visit)) Now the hotel-territory is large, beautiful, always clean, neatly cut bushes and trees. But they don't light up in the dark with bungalow numbers. Rooms are light cozy, clean well, but towels with stains catch on. Pools on the territory with clean warm water, at night and in the morning they are also always cleaned, the water is changed. Bars, restaurants, meals-all good, variety of sausages, cheeses, vegetables, fruit, always frying meat and fish, eating crabs. Hordes of flies in the dining room horror-hang finally sticky tapes for them what)) Moustachioed "Stasiki and Joriki" unfortunately present both in the main restaurant and in the pool ranch(( The beach is chic, there is no problem with the presence of sunbeds, every evening and morning they clean the beach of pig tourists who are unable to throw their garbage in the urn. They develop the area on the beach-swing, separate houses with mattresses, canopies from the sun. WiFi to the beach was never held, unfortunately((( ANIMATION)))) good animation pool day, beach day and ball games and fitness and aqua aerobics, but lack dance lessons)) Evening animation, evening show-well, there's no pretence, above all praise! Well done, every night bright colorful wind-up performances, beautiful costumes, great numbers and shows. But from them, sweat flows streams because of the spirit and sauna in the theater room, there is not enough air conditioning, again, even the audience escapes there for fresh air. After the late-night show, there's only a disco for young people that's getting boring. CV-twice was here, the hotel is not deteriorating, tested, so next time back here! a good hotel, worthy of 4* with minor shortcomings that can be fixed in a short period of time, happy to prompt, help, eliminate, correct, bring and supplement what is missing)))) Thank you for your work and for my rest."

Sheets full of giant, undercooked holes. Yellow pillowcases with blood stains. Ceiling tiles falling. Air conditioning grille falling off. Every day in the hallway, water fell from the ceiling, soaking the hallway, which was a danger for falls and the water fell on us as we passed without any kind of warning. Water left in the rooms is not in a closed bottle, it is from the tap. The sheets are not changed, the room is not cleaned, the bathtub is full of rust… Shower gel, soap and shampoo are refillable bottles on the wall. All transparent and basically water. Even so, they didn't have much and at the end of the first shower there was no more shower gel as they left just a little left over (probably from the previous guest). The smell of sewage on the balcony was unbearable! Entertainment lasts an hour at night and is super weak. The entertainer interacts with those who are likely to give money, as do the overwhelming majority of other employees. As I was going alone, I was ignored and looked at with a bad look, including by the hotel's public relations staff. Very bad food except for the sweets. Half a dozen guests, almost all of them elderly… hotel without any kind of atmosphere… falling apart and without any friendliness. I went in with huge expectations based on the reviews I read and it went from 80 to 8 from start to finish. Luckily I asked the agency to change hotels as I couldn't take it anymore and the difference to the other hotel is simply overwhelming! It's like going from a street pension to a mansion, in EVERYTHING!! I completely advise against this hotel! Horrible!

We weren't expecting much and we were very pleasantly surprised! The resort is well kept, our room on the Third floor in the main building was very big, with a king size and a double size bed, the washroom was also spacious. We had a balcony with ocean view and it was beautiful! Ample food, good veriaty, including eggs daily, chicken, pork, beef, lots of local fruit, delicious pizza, great desserts! The staff were mostly very nice and caring. The room was cleaned daily, towels changed every other day, and we got cool designs on the bed too. Water pressure was low but we did get hot water all the time. The beach is amazing of course, the pool is great but needs better cleaning since it was quite slippery on the sides and bottom. Nice entertainment every night, and fun short activities beside the pool daily. We didn't like the "Cuban Restaurant" that was outside and we were eaten by mosquitoes, the food was same like buffet anyways.. but the Japanese restaurant was a nice experience. Overall we all enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this resort for sure. There's also the dolphinarium 5 minutes walk where we watched a show and even got to swim with dolphins and do some tricks with them. The bus stop to varadero city is also about 5-7 mins walk. Overall we had a really good experience! Don't go to Cuba thinking you're getting the most luxury, go to Cuba to enjoy simplicity and amazing beaches.

My family came to Iberostar Tainos for a week in February 2024. We were seeking sun, sand, and a break from our Canadian winter. We got it!
The resort is small but I think that is a strength. The grounds were beautifully kept. We stayed in a ground level, garden-view bungalow and it was plenty big with a comfortable king size bed and balcony. There was a banana tree outside our balcony! The staff come in every day to make up the room and leave fresh water. Our daughters stayed in a second level bungalow room nearby. We had some issues with the room keys not working but they were quickly resolved at the front desk.
The pool area was clean and inviting and we were always able to find chairs and umbrellas. There is fairly loud music playing throughout the day. Staff try to get you up and moving with various poolside activities. Pool/beach towels are provided and can be exchanged throughout the week, just bring them back when you check out.
The beach is incredible! Soft, white sand that stretches out for ages. Very good swimming. The water is clear and warm, even in February (although not to the locals!) There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Paddleboards, kayaks and catamarans are available.
Food is plentiful. It took us a couple of days to find what we liked to eat at the buffet but then we were good to go! The a la carte restaurants require reservations, so do that as soon as you arrive. We particularly liked the Japanese restaurant.
The staff were very warm and friendly at Tainos! They go out of their way to smile, get to know you, and to make your stay pleasant.
We had a good and memorable stay and hope to be back someday!

We went to this hotel from 01/27-02/07, this is the third time we have been here. We like everything, the food is varied, there is fish and meat, several side dishes, 4-5 types of cheese (including blue cheese), the same with sausage, you definitely can’t go hungry, the room cleaning is not bad, this time we were in The bungalow, somewhere in the middle of the holiday, was poorly cleaned for a couple of days, and then everything got better, apparently it depends on the shift. The weather, of course, this time was worse, cold days, we wore sweaters, but these days were brightened up by amazing animation, special thanks to the new animator (named Nayib), although he was new, he fit in perfectly, always smiles and communicates with guests, very friendly and friendly, most of the guests gather at his place to participate in various activities, the rest of the animators are similarly excellent, I would also like to highlight the dancers, every time they dance like it’s their last, they give 100%. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. I recommend visiting this hotel!!

This was a second choice hotel as the one we had initially planned was fully booked but we were so desperate to get away after lockdown to some sunshine and we definitely got that. We had two weeks of glorious weather reaching 30 most days. The beach is just so beautiful! And the pool also. Make sure you take your own beakers or strong plastic cups as the drinks are served in tiny plastic cups at the pool and beach areas. Speaking of drinks, if you are expecting a tall frothy pina colada topped with a slice of pineapple think again. It's just poured out of a bottle and is awful. Same with any other cocktail you order. I made do with rum Punch late afternoon which was refreshing and you could have as strong as requested. The white wine was dreadful, very very sweet. Cappuccino at the main bar was passable with a shot of espresso in it. We found there was always something for everybody to eat weather you were fussy or not, however if you have children you may struggle, no fries what so ever during our 2 weeks. No snacks available at all, I.e biscuits, crisps, nuts. Accommodation was OK, we had a huge queen size bed and a single bed in our room which was on the ground floor near the pool. Bedding was clean and maids attended it daily to make up your bed and leave fresh towels. The furniture was dated and curtains hanging off the rail but we did not intend on staying in the room any longer than we need to, so clean bed and shower was good. The staff I have to say were absolutely second to none, there customer service was excellent, and they made you feel like they had known you forever, shout out to Daisy at the main bar was a breath of fresh air, new our names after 2 days I'm so sorry but there was another lady who worked with her and I can't remember her name, but the both of them ran that bar single handed when it was busy. Another Daisy and may at the pool bar were fabulous also and always remembered our names and chat away to my husband. The entertainment staff were wonderful, and some of the shows they put on around the pool you would expect to see at a 5 star resort. Big shout out to Elvis who would make you belly laugh each morning when he would turn up in his grass skirt, he realy is a credit to the hotel and makes everybody's day. All in all we had the most amazing holiday, and met some lovely lovely people. There was only one thing, 2 days before we were due to leave. Mine and my husbands sun hats disappeared from our room. They were both quality hats and were family gifts so this realy upset me. There was no other explanation other than they had been taken. My husband would not let me report this as we did not want any of the maids to loose there job! (The type of people we are) but it did put the dampeners on our last 2 days, especially after being so good to the staff tipping them generasly and daily. We would still come back however in a heartbeat.

We rested right after the new year, overall we liked everything. The main thing, of course, is the ocean! Well-kept area, the air conditioner worked, towels were changed. WiFi in bungalows and common areas. When it comes to food, you could always choose something to suit your taste, but don’t waste your time at the Ala Carte restaurant. The staff were friendly and responsive to all requests.

Beautiful hotel dance.set: Room in bungalow with pool view very good, quite large with a balcony. Preferably upstairs Some are currently being renovated Small fridge in the room and 2 small bottles of water every day Free WiFi works quite well in the room and lobby, but not at the beach. However, you have to log in each time Safe in the room paying 20€ for 10 days Air conditioning worked well Beautiful swimming pool Magnificent beach with enough seats and dreamy turquoise water We're not bothered by street vendors Quite nice little musical entertainment in front of the lobby and on certain days at the swimming pool, but no big shows Extremely friendly staff except one waitress at the Cuban restaurant Average main self-service restaurant but there is plenty to eat. The sliced legs are good as well as the minute grilled fish. No mussels or crustaceans unlike the other Iberostar Almost never banana and mango Two days short of cheese No waiting at the various bars and table service in the lobby We gave a small tip of around ten euros because people don't earn much but the kindness is the same with or without The very negative point is that there is no wine at lunchtime and only 2 days out of 10 in the evening and no red wine. We do not drink beer and the service is ALL inclusive After discussion with other tourists some hotels have wine with all meals, so this is a savings Second negative point is the cleanliness of the towels which are almost all stained in they are replaced and you have to beg for replacement. We made 2 complaints and the last 3 days it was ok The complaint via the tour operator representative was successful and we got the room for free until 3 p.m. instead of noon In short, I nevertheless recommend this hotel! Iberostar must take into account the comments
