One of the best Melia chain hotels in Varadero. Well-kept area, two swimming pools (children and adults), always available free sunbeds both by the ocean and near the pool. Beach towels can be changed daily. A pleasant and caring hotel staff will always help. I especially want to single out Julia, and the staff of the accommodation guests. The main restaurant has a large and varied selection of food, several meats in various variations, several fish and seafood. Spanish cheeses, sausages, jamón. Big selection of fruits, three kinds of ice cream. Two kinds of soup. The restaurant serves alcoholic and soft drinks, juices and water. There are 3 A la carte restaurants (Mexican, Cuban and Japanese) included in the price. There's a 24-hour bar-restaurant. There's a poolside cafe, it serves paella during the day, there's a grilled cafe by the beach. The hotel has three main bars, two of which are open 24 hours a day, two in the pool area and one near the ocean. Every Tuesday, the hotel hosts Cuba Day, musicians perform and food is grilled outside. Very atmospheric. At the hotel, musicians play before lunch, piano during dinner, concert program in the evening, incendiary Cuban disco at 10:15 p.m. It's the third time I've personally stayed at Melia Varadero, and I love everything. Rooms after renovation on the 4th floor. Part of the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors have also been renovated, the 5th floor for the so-called Level, they have their own restaurant, bar, delivery of food to the room and other plush things. There is a shopping mall near the hotel, there is a stop where a 2-story bus for $5 takes tourists on the circular route of hotels-Vardero-hotels. You can enter and exit at any stop and then continue on the route. There is a government exchanger in the hotel, there is a shop (accept Mir cards).

We rested with our husband on 03.102024-17.10.2024 (14 days).
Magnificent Atlantic Ocean, snowy white beach, delightful Liberty Island, music and dance. The water is pure as a tear, the sand soft as white flour. On the property of the hotel is a huge beach with sun loungers in the sand, bars. The entry into the water is perfect, shallow.
The bars have delicious beer, they make lovely cocktails, refreshing refreshments.

In the evenings, a variety of entertaining and interesting programs, dance shows, piano, shows with rings, etc.

Animators work every day (dancing, games, volleyball), energetic, positive and very friendly. Beautiful guys, it's hard to single out one person🤗 Loved everyone and you're all in our hearts, Cubans - very friendly, beautiful and positive. Thank you all for your kind hearts and sparkling eyes! You-class!!!❤️

WiFi is free, but catches intermittently, but you can catch the net on site and in your room. Air conditioning works well throughout the hotel.

Food: varied, for any taste (no one will be left hungry): vegetables different, side dishes (legumes, pasta, potatoes different), meat always eaten (beef, chicken, pork, fish), cheeses, different types of ham. Delicious fruits (watermelon, guava, papaya, pineapple, bananas), a huge selection of desserts (cakes, croissants, buns), very delicious ice cream with different toppings, freshly squeezed juices.
They serve red wine for lunch and dinner!
Good restaurants😊

The red bar has insanely delicious coffee and coffee cocktails, made from alcoholic beverages: Pinot Colada, Daiquiri, Cuba Libre, Mojito, champagne and more.
Professional baristas, always smiling and doing wonders🤗

I recommend this hotel to all tourists, get a lot of experiences, nice emotions and beautiful photos.
I express my great gratitude to all the staff of the Melia Varadero Hotel!!! ❤️
Thank you for the cleanliness of our room, always filled with cold drinks in the fridge; thank you to the security team for their attentiveness, care and kindness; thank you to the entire animation team for the incendiary dancing, show programmes, smiles and positivity. Thank you to the reception team, and especially Yule’s for the swanky room on the 4th floor: it is very nice to wake up to the noise of the ocean and admire the beauty at dawn and dusk. Thank you guide for your delightful excursion to Havana!
Thank you Melia Varadero for a delightful vacation, it was an unforgettable 14 days of happiness and freedom! 🇨🇺🇷🇺❤️ Cuba is heaven! Viva la Cuba!🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺

We stayed at the Melia Varadero in mid January for 9 nights. This was our 5th stay at this resort and we absolutely adore it. We have always stayed on ‘the level’ and think the upgrade is worth the cost.

This trip we started off in an ocean view room (5405) and then moved to a level suite (5510). Both rooms were very clean and were kept up daily. We had no issues with hot water or amenities in the room. The level rooms do show their age in some spots, but all rooms are undergoing renovations and the level ones should be completed soon. The level suite was spectacular!! So much space and the views from the room and out on the huge corner terrace were priceless!

As always, the staff was marvelous. They are so kind and helpful. Management takes feedback seriously and is always checking in with guests. We were invited to an event for ‘repeat guests’ and it was nice to meet more staff and enjoy a cocktail while listening to a live musician.

There are so many staff that made our stay enjoyable, but shout outs to: Toni, Osmany, Dialena, Roberto, Oscar, Boris, Luisito, Abraham, Orlaida, Lea, Idiana, Damaris, Karina, Eva, and more! So many spectacular people at this resort!

The food at this resort is really well done, imo. The buffet is vast with lots on offer. The a’la cartes are delicious with great flavors and lots of selection. When you stay on the level, you get an a’la carte for breakfast and lunch in the Tex Mex plus an a’la carte each night from the 4 that are on offer. So many highlights this trip, I can’t name them all, but each venue had something memorable! The resort also has great cocktails and they are willing to craft something for you, if you give them ideas of what you like.

New additions since our last stay in 2023: more things for children – a basketball net in the water and more daytime entertainment. There is also a ‘food truck’ concept out by the pool/outdoor entertainment area that had ice cream and milkshakes.

In short, we had no issues with food, drinks, water, toilet paper, towels, or electricity! The place is spotless and they are constantly working on upgrades. The renovated rooms are beautiful and I can’t wait to experience one, once the level renovations are completed.

We will be back to the Melia Varadero and have no hesitations recommending it to others!

The 13 hour flight and the price of the tour were not worth it! The weather also let us down - it was cold and there was a strong storm for a week (we didn’t swim), and it was unpleasant to be near the pool (it’s miserable). The area is small and not very well maintained.
The rooms are very old, dirty and stained (it’s unpleasant to go into the bathroom with your bare feet (she never washed with products), warm blankets on the bed are even more unpleasant - it’s time to throw them away! Of course, no slippers for you, and no hygiene products except gel and shampoo, toilet paper, like tissue paper. “Room cleaning - every day” (they left a dollar): they changed towels, brought water, removed garbage from the bucket, made the bed, perhaps washed the surface of the floor.
The Internet was only available in the lobby, closer to the reception, and not always good.
There is nothing to snack in between main meals: some grill on the beach is always closed, I saw that people brought cutlets from there, which they didn’t eat and left on the sunbeds! Or maybe you could at least bring the baked goods to the bar, for example).
One of the PLUSES is the red bar and its staff (martini and champagne, though there won’t be any, but the wine, rum, and cocktails are good))
The waiters in the restaurant are friendly and serve quickly enough.
Food - there are few fruits, no fresh vegetables (green tomatoes and overripe cucumbers) There are different kinds of meat and grilled fish, but they don’t know how to fry it - it’s dried out, like a sole. Shrimp and mussels were saved, and if you come in the first rows for lunch and dinner, you can snatch delicious baked fish. There will be no porridge and muesli, there were 2 soups, but they say they are not tasty. Pasta and French fries (no mashed potatoes). Scrambled eggs and omelettes, which are fried very slowly. Baked goods - multi-colored biscuits, donuts, puff pastries. There are delicious sliced cheeses and sausages.
In general, a couple of days of calm, when the entry into the ocean was beautiful (from the wild beach) - the trip to distant lands was not worth it. Moreover, listening to the reviews of tourists on one flight at the airport, I realized that our “Melia” is still a good hotel and the cuisine is not the worst in comparison.

Holidaying in a hotel together with her husband in May 2024. It's one of the best hotels in the cube. Everything was very comfortable. Extra paid at the reception for the sea view , 100S, and got a room on the 3rd floor. The rooms were a little tired, but clean, the bed linen was changed every day, even a little unaccustomed, why so often, cleaned up, replenished the bar with water and beer every day. We didn't forget the tips and the little gifts. Small things, but nice for everyone. There were no problems with water, electricity or insects. Actually, problems in the cube are not about this hotel. He's great. Swimming and on the beach official and on the right, wild. We went over the rocks to Dupont's house. There were always places on the beach, you can get umbrellas and sun loungers closer to the water for a little money, we didn't need that. The entrance to the ocean is smooth, not far off. It's important not to go long. It's good everywhere. Food, not Turkish. But no one was hungry. Spanish wines and champagne are definitely better than Turkish and Egyptian wines. Hamon, cheeses, olives, fruit in season, ice cream great. There's always meat and fish, but they're not very good at cooking. But it's not their fault. All Cubans are very welcoming for real and very much like us, the same values: families, children, loyalty to the homeland. Our holiday was definitely successful, for us Cuba will not become a disposable resort, thanks in large part to the Melia Varadero Hotel. Special thanks to Barbara the perfect gastrella worker and wonderful man, Yasmin to our restaurant waiter and Madeline to our maid. Our small ten-day stay at the hotel is largely due to you personally. Thank you and see you again!!! Zoe and Andrew. ❤️

Review of Meliá Varadero

The beach at Meliá Varadero is absolutely stunning and was undoubtedly the highlight of my trip. The common areas of the resort are decent, but there were several aspects that left much to be desired.

First, the pool situation was disappointing. The so-called "pool bar" is not actually accessible from the pool, and drinks are not allowed in the pool. On top of that, the pool water was extremely cold, making it uncomfortable to use. I ended up spending all my time in the ocean, which was much warmer and more enjoyable.

The room itself was outdated, with an awkwardly positioned shower that made washing my hair a struggle. The electrical outlets were so worn out that charging a phone became a frustrating task. Despite paying for a superior room as a birthday treat, my guests—who booked standard rooms—received far better accommodations than I did, which was disappointing.

Customer service at reception was subpar. They were generally unhelpful and showed no willingness to assist with concerns. The restaurant booking process was also incredibly frustrating. You’re not allowed to make reservations at check-in; instead, you have to return the next morning at 8:30 AM, wait in line for about 30 minutes, only to find out that everything is fully booked. This meant I was stuck eating at the buffet, even on my birthday. I can’t comment on the restaurant food, but the dress code rules seemed unreasonable—women are required to wear pants or dresses, which is impractical in 30°C tropical heat.

One of the worst aspects of my stay was the handling of airport transfers. When I booked my transfer, I was advised to notify the reception in advance so they could inform me when the driver arrived. However, when I approached the front desk to do so, their response was dismissive: "The hotel is not responsible for transfers, and we do not get involved with them." Essentially, they made it clear that I was on my own. While I personally had no issues because I had pre-arranged everything, I could see how this lack of assistance could cause problems for other travelers who might need help coordinating their transportation.

Additionally, the towel system was a hassle. While my superior room included beach towels, my guests had to pick theirs up from the club house. However, the pool closed at 6 PM, and the towel return station closed at 5 PM, meaning guests had to plan around an inconvenient schedule just to return towels before checkout.

Overall, the resort enforces a series of unnecessary and frustrating rules that take away from the experience. Would I return to Varadero? Absolutely. Would I stay at Meliá Varadero again? No. However, I might consider another Meliá property since my stay at Tryp Habana Libre in Havana was excellent.

Dear Fabi1102: Thank you for taking a few moments of your time to share your impressions about our resort and we are sorry that the hotel did not meet your expectations in some aspects. We have read your review in detail and we are pleased to explain that for hygienic reasons we do not have a wet bar, but rather a bar in the middle of the two pools, just a meter away from them, a provision duly explained on our website and all the corresponding sales and advertising platforms. On the other hand, we inform you that you received the services according to the type of room you paid for, in your case, a Premium. This typology offers clients 50 square meters, a beautiful L-shaped balcony, with an excellent view of the sea, pool and beach towels located inside, early check-in starting at ten in the morning, unlike its guests, who booked classic rooms. While it is true that the latter are among those renewed, unlike yours, you received other privileges. We are surprised by your comments regarding the Reception department, because it is one of those that achieves the best results, especially in customer service. Likewise, as you clarify, we are not responsible for the transfer of clients, an issue that clearly concerns the agencies and tour operators through which the reservation is made. However, we have not limited ourselves and have collaborated to inform guests and contact them as quickly as possible. Thank you very much for your visit and once again we apologize for the inconvenience you may have suffered during your stay. Sincerely, Meliá Varadero Management

Great and well-maintained complex. The beach is beautiful, but on one side of the hotel there are large stone slabs when entering the water. It's a shame that the other side of the beach doesn't have loungers.
The pool could be a bit deeper (at its deepest point the "deep" pool was 1.20m)
Many good restaurants provide variety.
Unfortunately the service in the cafeteria wasn't that good & you had to wait a long time or place your order at the counter yourself because the staff didn't come to the tables.
The rooms could be a bit more modern and the WiFi reception a bit better.
Only one bottle of water per room per day. You often had to get the water (for brushing your teeth or drinking) yourself because it was forgotten by room service.
All in all, it was a great experience with great value for money. Definitely recommended.

Hello! I'll try to be brief and objective. In Varadero for the third time, February 2023 Sol Palmeras, October 2023 Sol Palmeras and March 2024 Melia Varadero. In the current realities, it doesn’t take long to choose a country for a holiday, the east (Asia) is all with transfers except Tai, but Tai turned out to be far beyond the budget, the approximate difference with Cuba is x2. In March we chose Melia Varadero and did not regret it.
1) We were very lucky with the weather, for the full 13 days there was a wave and red flags hung out once on the day of departure home (not very disappointing, in October we were less lucky) the rest of the time there was complete calm and sun. 2) I liked the hotel itself more than Sol Palmeras, there are obvious differences and there are many of them, there is no point in listing everything, spices - salt, pepper and cutlery (spoons, forks, desserts and the like) in great abundance, which cannot be said about Palmeras there There's a problem with this. There is enough seating for everyone in the main restaurant; the tables and chairs are large and wooden. In terms of food, judging by surveys of tourists from other hotels, the Melia hotel line is in first place here, jamon, prosciutto, cheeses every day in any quantity, not bad for Cuba. The main building is made in the form of rays (for an additional fee of $ 150), we settled on the 4th floor of room 4109 after renovation, the view from the balcony of Sol Palmeras, the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico is not bad, if you don’t look down (the hotel is renovating one part of the fourth floor, This construction does not cause any discomfort other than visual). 3) Beach – One nice detail! In 2023, the beach in Sol Palmeras was much better, but in 2024, after a storm, everything changed dramatically for the better Melia Varadero, no slabs! only sand, there are enough sunbeds for everyone, after breakfast they came to choose sunbeds on any line from the water (the sunbeds are not very fresh, there are a lot of dented ones, but you can always find more or less normal ones). 4) The hotel staff is excellent! bartenders and restaurant service fly like bees, cleaning and linen change every day before lunch. Russian-speaking hotel managers resolve any issues quickly and without problems.
Many thanks to all the staff of the Melia Varadero Hotel for the good service they provided! Especially Barbara and Ulyana!

We rested from 16.09 to 28.09.23 with my husband alone in this hotel. We have extremely positive emotions in general☀️
1) Food: in the main restaurant there was everything you need, several types of fish, squid, octopus, shells and mussels, chicken and pork, salads, ready meals, various desserts, from biscuits to meringues and profiteroles, pasta, jamon, sausages and European cheeses, fruits and ice cream. I liked that the food is without unnecessary spices and impurities; you can create a good portion of healthy food. Personally, we had no problem standing at the grill for 5-7 minutes and getting fresh fish or chicken. We have never been poisoned, everything is fresh, everything is always available, varied and tasty.
I've heard more about dirty plates than I've seen, maybe I got caught just once.
The waiters did their job 100% - we didn’t have to wait half an hour for anything, they brought drinks in a minute or two, poured water themselves, and took the plates away in a timely manner.
Food at the grill bar was limited to sandwiches, a burger, a hot dog - not for everyone, but you can have a snack.
2) Beach - we even considered our rock an advantage rather than a disadvantage, firstly, it’s an awesome view, secondly, it takes 1 minute maximum to walk from the rock to the sunbeds with an ideal beach without stones, and if the sunbeds are not important, then you go to the right and there in 10 seconds excellent beach from the territory ✅
Palm trees and bushes create an incomparable view and protect from the sun.
The water is simply chic, there were enough sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone, towels are provided, and 30 minutes/day of free water activities are included.
3) the hotel area is not very large, but well-groomed, green, the grass is all watered (we looked at other hotels and there scorched grass and bushes spoiled the impression), the hotel itself is not new, but looks decent.
The pool is not deep, chlorine, there is a bar
In general there are a lot of sunbeds, we weren’t really there, so there’s nothing more to say
4) The room we got was not new, the furniture was old, but not broken, everything worked: air conditioning, shower, everything you needed. The mattresses are new, comfortable, the pillows are good, they were cleaned every day, they made swans and there was no tip.
We didn't see any cockroaches, the walls were clean.
5) Reception: the staff is not in a hurry, but if you wait they will do everything, they speak English, we had no problems with them, what we asked was always done.
6) Ala-carte restaurants 3 pieces: we went to Mexico and Japanese, for a change you can go, it’s tasty and interesting.
7) Entertainment: live music in the evenings - excellent, evening performances - not so much, not for everyone, there were also discos

Hello! :) We are a couple who only spent one night at the hotel, but it was enough to get to know the operation and the experience provided to clients to be a five-star all-inclusive.

The customer is not notified anywhere that to have lunch or dinner in any of the restaurants you have to reserve from 8 to 12 in the morning only.

We were able to eat at the Spanish restaurant thanks to JAVIER and the rest of the workers, the food here was exquisite and so was the service. Great work and worse effort on your part.

However, the buffet food was terrible, poor quality to the greatest extent. My partner with an egg allergy couldn't eat practically anything (a little white rice and dry chicken and for breakfast he ate a piece of bread with nothing) because no one knew how to tell him what the food contained and that it was better for him not to eat anything.

In general, this should be taken care of, it is very important for any client to feel safe regarding allergies and intolerances.

In the pool the same way, at 7:00 p.m., while we were having a drink, all the clients were evicted because they were going to use a very strong product and clean it, a disaster.

The room was very well maintained and the views were very beautiful, the staff was super friendly and wanted to help at all times.

We would not recommend this hotel to any family or friends, preferably that they choose others because there are quite a few in the area that may be better.

Thank you so much.

Greetings from a disappointed client.

You should bring American or Canadian money. We add almost only cubain pesos and its ok to tip at the bar or for the housekeeper but When you want to buy gifts the conversion its really complicated to understand and you lose your money. We paid our taxi in canadian, its was 20$ for a ride but we asked for an old convertible car! We also used a coco taxi for the same Price! Both was worth the ride, so much fun!
