If you're an experienced traveller comfortable with living like locals, then you might enjoy this place but the average traveller will be disappointed by the lower standards. Here are the pluses: the food at Club Karey was surprisingly good by Cuban standards (I've been there 3 times and Cuba is infamous for the poor food quality). Bartenders are very liberal...

The location is wonderful, right on the ocean. Water was intermittent in our room. No hot showers. Beef selection was only the tongue or canned. There was a good selection of fruit. Our room was very clean.

If you want a genuine Cuban hotel, this is it. Located in Varadero between the Canal and the ocean, it is a very quiet and small hotel. From there, it is easy to walk to downtown Varadero or even to Santa Marta that is a small cuban village across the bridge on the left. Breakfast are great. Eggs with bread...

Bugs in the room, bartenders selling the best booze out "the back" horrible inedible food.I became vegetarian. Mystery bins of food, one spoon for 8 platters, filthy dishes, weiners boiled for breakfast then floated in ketchup for lunch!!! Bugs in the meat dishes at the grill. We were actually told to go two hotels down for their buffet because it...

First time traveling period! I traveled by myself of course I did my research, I read the reviews but I'm not one to judge by others experiences. I'm so happy I was not put off by the reviews yes it's a 2 and ahalf star its close to the city. If you are wanting to go to Cuba and have...

Keep your expectations low, very low, and you won't be disappointed. The hotel isn't a hotel in the conventional sense, it's really a group of houses along the beach. The benefit of this is, every room is just feet away from the water. It's mostly old, not very clean out well maintained. My door key routinely didn't work, sometimes the...

Moldy pillows, musty smelling rooms, cats eating from the buffet, cold food, broken glass all over ground, I stepped on a needle, patio falling into the bay, no light fixtures, staff ask for tips, door key never worked, woken 2 nights at 3:00 a.m. by alarms, stained mattresses, out of coffee one day, late airport transportation, dark unlit pathways, lobby...

I was very happy with my recent stay here from Jan. 18 - Feb. 1 2017 My goal was to jog every morning, enjoy the sun and to study spanish from the books I took. This is a rather smaller resort, which I like and gave an opportunity to make meet some really nice people. I thought the food was...

I had no expectations before going to this hotel but this hotel even went lower than that. No bottled water supplied - you had to buy at the 'government' store. No shampoo either - you have to buy at the 'government' store. You had to pay to use the safe if you wanted it. There is no hair dryer (no...

I would never go to this run down place again , I just had 8 nights here and it was diabolical even by Cuban standards. Everything is so far to get to as the hotel * cough * is so spread out and almost falling into the ocean. The beach is basically non existent and the nightlife well the place...
