My husband and I, along with our best friends, stayed at Papilotte for a week in June, 2011. It was absolutely fabulous. Although we rented the 2 bedroom ( w/ kitchenette & private sulfur bath) for a bit more, any of the rooms would have been perfect. I actually checked out several of them. The location is gorgeous. You'll be...

We have just returned from our second stay at Papillote and still love it as much as the first time! We stayed in Room 12 which has a hot mineral pool right outside it's door and we were in and out of it all day long! We also enjoyed taking a dip in the cool pool at the bottom of...

You heard of paradise, but in Papillote you stay in it. Why? This is what you find at Papillote: waterfalls, hot and cold pools, rainforest, an amazing well kept tropical flower garden spread all over the property, relaxing sounds, and smells. A knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, Marcel, that shows you all of this with details and a smile. Elegant and...

You should stay here, esp. if you're a fan of hot mineral pools, waterfalls, and gardens. There are 4 hot water pools, one of which is next to a gorgeous waterfall, which feeds into the cold water pool that's next to the hot. The rooms are homey and great if you want to get away from TV and A/C. Fans...

This is a lovely place to stay, in a big, beautiful garden with ' private' waterfalls and hot pools. We never experienced anything like this before. How soothing to sit in the hot pools after a tiresome hike or day! The first night we stayed at the Hummingbird Suite which is ok but smallish for the 4 of us (2...

Everything about Papillote is exceptional, from the delicious, traditional Creole cookery to the utterly serene surroundings and the charming staff. The extensive tropical gardens provide a mystical escapism; their creative design blends seamlessly with the natural landscape and attracts much wildlife. The numerous hot mineral springs provide welcome comfort after a day's hiking in the surrounding hills and forests. The...

On a recent business trip to Dominica I stayed many nights at the Papillote Wilderness Retreat. As a photographer I grew to appreciate the creative vibe and uniqueness of Papillote. The location is stunning in a steep geothermal valley with rainforest vegetation and two waterfalls. The rock work and tropical gardens fit in perfectly with the natural surroundings. The hotel,...

This exotic destination cannot be defined with star ratings as it is totally unique. The setting is out of this world and the ambience charming. The staff are friendly and courteous and the food is absolutely delicious creole and international cuisine from locally sourced organic farms. It is a place where one can truly find oneself again, and is a...

We chose to spend a few days at Papillote to explore the Roseau area. They are as conveniently located as anywhere else and the gardens are a nice experience. I think the hotel was once a better experience. The rooms are quite dated. The linens were worn and furnishings a bit aged. The restaurant was a disappointment with limited choices....

This hotel is rated as the most elegant in the Roseau Valley, which is four miles east of the capital of Roseau. We did not stay there but took a tour of the gardens -$10 and well worth it- and had dinner there, after the concierge claimed that it was "the best resteraunt" on hte island nation of Dominica. FALSE....
