I have stayed here a few times, both for business and non business travel. Always a pleasant experience each visit. Very friendly staff, love the outdoor areas, and location where you can walk around the beautiful Colonial Zone, especially during Christmas. So beautiful with all the lights and decorations!

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay here to specifically visit the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo. Carmen (concierge) was very helpful with transportation and dining, and very knowledgeable of history and the attractions. Our suite was beautifully furnished and comfortable. Jonathan assisted us in resolving a minor issue on check-out. The hotel has just changed owners,...

My husband and I just spent three nights at Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando, and we can't imagine a better place to stay in Santo Domingo. The location is excellent, on the oldest street in the Americas, where you can walk to any attraction in the Zona Colonial. The staff and service were exceptional - exceedingly professional, helpful and friendly. We...

Accommodations at this hotel were superlative, as were the common outdoor areas. What put Nicolas de Ovando over the top however, was the staff, especially the front desk. They put up with our mangled Spanish with good humor, and a special shout out goes to Carmen for her assistance in getting a rental car to drive to Puerto Plata.

The hotel is in a great location, with lots of the Zona Colonial sites nearby. The hotel itself is a historic building and is architecturally beautiful. Staff was helpful and friendly, and there is secure parking across the street.

Dear Windy_Keala, Thank you for staying at Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando during your visit of the Zona Colonial.... The hotel was the house of the first Governor of the island, from which takes the name and is cultural patrimony... It does have a very interesting and ancient history and architecture! Best regards. It is located in the best neighborhood in Santo Domingo La Zona Colonial . It is a very hip neighborhood full of cafés bars and restaurants. The hotel is nice since you feel like you step into a nice courtyard in Spain. The problem are the rooms. My room was very outdated and bare. The room need to be refurnished....

Great location on historic Calle las damas. The hotel is nice, almost too much service, e.g. Maid came in 2x per day and guy who checked on bar. Little pool, pleasant though. Breakfast was excellent, buffet with a lot of choices from local fruits and veggies, warm and cold cheese, egg and meat option. Pastry section, different breads etc. But...

This is a super cute, clean and friendly hotel in the middle of the colonial district. The hotel was recommended by a local friend who works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it's the hotel they recommend for visiting family, friends, and dignitaries looking for a local boutique hotel in a great area. The French Embassy is also in...

Having been born in Santo Domingo, I was so excited to return with my husband. The location couldn't be better. Easy walk to all the important historical sites. We stayed there 2 nights, toured other areas, and returned for 3 additional nights. The first room was lovely -- old architecture, view of the pool and river and quiet. The second...
