My experience at Catalonia Santo Domingo was, overall, ok. The only “minus” I could mention is the politiness of the girls at the reception. It’s not like they acted rude or something like that, but when I asked them to call their collegues from Catalonia...More

I loved this hotel. The view from the room was awesome. The food was wonderful. I am looking forward to visit again. We had a marvelous time. We stayed a very short time to our regret. The hotel is situated on the "Malecon" that is...More
The hotel is very nice and upscale. Very clean and the staff is wonderful. My only issue is the AC unit. I was hot the entire time and even switched rooms hoping for better. Other than that, everything was superb. If AC is not an...More

There is a casino next to the hotel and some few shops nearby but not like a huge shopping mall. You can either walk towards Zona Colonial if you're a large group. Not 1-2 persons due to risk of getting mugged. Days before I arrived two male airplane captains got mugged not far from the hotel. Use either Uber or take a taxi. Agora Shopping Mall is not far away either. Maybe 10 minutes by car. They have a space for kids to play at the top floor.

There are not any swimable beaches in Santo Domingo. You will need to travel about 30-45 minutes to get to a suitable beach. If you are thinking about just looking at the water or walking along it, the hotel is right across the [very busy] street (the Malecon) from the water.
