If you are expecting a fancy resort like the pictures this in not the resort for you. The only good thing I can really say about this resort is that the staff is friendly and the beach is nice. The resort is not that great and found it did not have alot to offer like the website bosts and like other 4 star resorts I have been too. The food is ok, but their buffet does not have alot of options. The food is often cold and I did not find alot of things to taste too good. If you choose to take a taxi and take the city tour, be aware if anyone takes you to Chocolovers in Puerto Plata as it is not an honest business and they will over charge you. We got taken here and I was over charged 60$ for a bill I was told was 40$. After reading reviews on this business this apparently happens often. DO NOT GO HERE. Or if you do check you are charged for the exact amount. As nothing there has prices they could charge you anything they want so be careful. The taxi person will take you to friends of there's and I am unsure if this is a common scam they pull, to make money. Taxi drivers name was Genaro Roman. All I can suggest is read the reviews on things in the Dominican before you select a hotel and be wary of places you go to with taxi drivers. If you want local stuff stop at the Jumbo as you can get most things there for a fraction of the price. …

We are currently in the last couple days of a vacation and have enjoyed the resort greatly. The beach has a good swimming area with a sandy bottom. There is some sea grass, but that should be expected at this time of year. If you walk north west about 300 metres, there’s a very nice snorkeling spot in front of the Gran Ventana resort. The food is very fresh (especially the fruit) with mostly traditional Dominican options. If you feel you need to have more traditional North American options, there is a pasta bar and usually pizza available. The pools are clean and uncrowded. The rooms are a little dated, but spacious. If you are looking for top shelf booze, you will have to pay, but if you’re not picky, the local rum and beer options are fine. The best part of the resort is the people. The staff are amazingly and genuinely warm people. If you are looking for a quiet getaway I would recommend this place. If you’re looking for a high end, highly refined experience, you may want to look for more expensive option. When it comes down to value for money, it will be difficult to beat Blue Bay.…

This resort did not meet our expectations on multiple levels: Room: 2 stars. The bed was hard and pillows lumpy. The AC leaked so much that we had to keep towels on the floor. Otherwise we would skip and fall on our way to the bathroom. They only provided 2 small bath towels (for 2 people) which I could barely wrap around my torso, and one washcloth. Food: 3 stars. the buffet and restaurants were hit or miss. The fresh fruits often weren’t ripe and lacked variety (often only cantaloupe and pineapple). At the Italian restaurant, my risotto was so salty that I couldn’t eat more than 3 bites. At the Chinese restaurant, the ribs were tasty but very tough. Beach: 4 stars. The beach and see were beautiful, without any seaweed. Half of the loungers were comfortable (plastic frame model), half not so much (metal frame model with a bar in the middle and often broken). The palapa provided a reasonable amount of shade if you placed your chair next to them. Cleanliness: 2 stars. The bathroom in our bedroom was nit cleaned well. you could tell the corners of the floor had not seen a mop in a while. bathrooms at the beach were not cleaned often enough and smelled like urine. Beach towel service: 1 star. At every other resort I’ve been to, there’s a little cabin dedicated to provide fresh beach towels in exchange of the old one and it’s never been an issue to get a new towel and any time. At BlueBay, they placed a handful of fresh towels on a little table outside the shack where they sold souvenirs. We were supposed to place the old towel in a basket and take a fresh one. I never saw more than 10 towels on the table, and more often than not, there were none. We had to keep walking by in the hope of getting one. For 2 days in a row, we weren’t able to change our towel at all. …

Just returned from this beautiful place. It was very nice vacation. The resort is nice. Room little bit outdated need improvements. Food was good, waitresses not paying attention and not bringing drinks, you need to ask. Entertainment team was great! Beach was beautiful, I recommend this place, love it
