We were staying here for a couple of weeks and needed to explore the area and came across these bikes that you can hire. Very good and great customer service- they’re next along from Riu Palace hotel - You’ll have a blast!

Amazing beaches. Awesome food and very nice people. An area called Maymon have the best fish and seafood, we brought plenty of fresh fruit. Love the service and attention provided. I highly recommend. Cheap prices. We enjoyed every minute of our visit.

Best staff, bartending ( Henry, Brad, Juandry) all the others. Serving staff two thumbs up. Didn't care for the potential harm from the salt/pepper shakers. Food very typical of Dominican Republic. Rooms clean but very dated.

Overall I enjoyed my 2 week vacation but it would have been nice to know that it was closing down because I feel they just didn’t care anymore! Price was right though so I can’t really complain! Some of the staff were great, others not so much!

The resort is very small I was disappointed to find it wasn’t beach front. There was a trolley to take you there or it was a five minute walk. The resort has potential to be better as there were several areas that seemed to not be functioning. I did meet a couple of people who were unhappy with their rooms and had plumbing issues. The staff seemed to be friendly but a lot of the dining room staff did not know simple drink names so even ordering water was difficult at times. The beach had the best snack bar with fries and burgers. The buffet and snack bar on site were ok. Pizza was served at the snack bar by the pool and certain evenings they had an a la carte there with Mexican food. It was good. I was not a fan of the Italian a la carte as it had many choices I could not have. The desserts are pretty boring. This resort did not have as many locals as I’ve experienced at other resorts so that was nice. But it was hard to communicate at times with them, even after saving one of their children from drowning in the pool bar. I knew they were grateful someone was watching and that’s all that mattered was the child was ok. There was word that the resort had a new owner and will close in May to get a massive renovation. If this happens they could bring the star level up. I would return knowing what I know about this resort.

As my title says, my girlfriend and I were going to pay $800 just to get on an earlier flight home as long as that meant we could get out of this “resort”. We stayed 2 nights and thankfully were able to get into a better resort for the remainder of our trip. These travel agencies post pictures of this place that looks nothing like how the actual resort is. They should change their rating from 3 stars to 1. There was mold on the mattress, mold on the walls, leaks from the ceilings, fleas jumping around on the walls, ghost ants and other types of bugs coming in from the door that led to the balcony, stains on the walls and the list goes on.. We changed into 6 different rooms, one time being at 2 am because we woke up scratching because bugs were biting us as we slept. One of the rooms they showed us was the “master suite” and it was worse than the normal rooms... bits of the ceiling was coming off, the guy went to flick on the light and nothing went on so when we looked up there was a hole where the lightbulb was supposed to be ... Absolutely disgusting conditions ... The workers told us they are demolishing the resort soon, they should advertise that on the travel websites so people know what they are getting themselves into before they book... we were completely blindsided... I only have a few pictures on my phone the rest are on my girlfriends phone but that’s just to give you an idea

Be very wary of this resort if you have any expectations above 2 stars. SUNWING is milking this resort for all it is worth because it's impending demolition allows for bargain basement prices. Five hours after check-in, never have I seen so many wives in a lobby, clamouring to their husbands to get other accommodation. The very 'tired' buildings, lack of hot water, dingy bedding and rock-hard lobby furniture could be overlooked as charming or kitschy or something. SUNWING should be ashamed because, as Footprints83488 notes in their review, the place is overrun with locals. I wasn't aware locals in a third-world country could afford $600 a week. In other words, I don't think they can. Much more likely they are getting day-passes or resident rates that enable them to use the facilities, controlling the pool, the music, and crowding the buffet. The menu seems to change to suit them as well, as I saw better menus when their numbers were diminished (weekdays) and cheaper local fare on weekends. I ended up eating at the Casa Colonial Boutique Hotel which has two great restaurants, great service and reasonable menu prices. You can tell, with their impending demolition upper management just doesn't care, an unfortunate tradition all too common in Caribbean resorts of 3 stars or less.

this place is NOT for tourists. they cater to locals all weekend, won't wait on people staying there all week, the food is limited during the same time as they don't put out the best until locals are gone. Staff ignore you most of the time, there is no entertainment of any kind, no bikes, no activities, NOTHING. The beach is a 10 min walk away, and the bus only goes from 9-5 if you can't walk that far. The smell of sewer lingered around the pool as well. Would NOT recommend to anyone. Good thing they are set to close in May :(
