I have stayed here 7 times over the years, the last time being early 2020 I love this hotel The rooms are huge They have a full living room and kitchen with everything you need The staff are great, very helpful The restaurant is great for breakfast, and ok for dinner It is above the hip strip if you want the full retail and tourist experience There are a host of restaurants close by They will give you free access to doctors cave beach just down the elevator and across the road A great local clean safe place However it is not the grand palladium, it is local. If you want a full 5 star resort experience, this is not the place for you. There are lots of full 5 star, all inclusive beach resorts near Montego Bay I just love a more local Jamaican experience Happy travels Murray

I booked this hotel knowing it was not going to be 5 star, but for a budget hotel, I was impressed. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a bar fridge. The tap water is safe to drink. The hotel pool was a little run down, but clean and nice to swim in. Doctor's Cave Beach is right across the street. For every 2 nights' stay, you get one free day pass per person to the beach ($5 to get in). El Greco is not at street level. You have to walk through an enclosed bridge to another hotel and take the elevator down. Then you cross the street and are at the beach. I actually really liked this set up because it eliminated noise from the street. Doctor's Cave Beach was lovely. It is not huge. You can walk from one end to the other in about 5 minutes. It was not crowded when I was there. You can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas. There is lots of trees for shade, so you don't need an umbrella if you don't want one. The water was not rough. I could go about 20 feet from shore before it was over my head. There were floating trampolines a bit further out. The water was over my head, but not hard to swim out to and they were fun to play on. El Greco provided towels to bring to the beach. You can exchange them for fresh towels at the concierge. Breakfast was included with our room. There is a choice of Jamaican food or American food. The American breakfast was bacon, eggs, waffles, etc. The Jamaican food was chicken, liver, fish, potatoes, etc. I chose the Jamaican breakfast both days I was there. It was fantastic. It wasn't food I would normally eat for breakfast (meat and potatoes are more a lunch/dinner food for me), but I am so glad I tried it because the flavours and tastes was wonderful. The front desk staff were not very friendly. They were extremely slow checking us in, stop a few times to do other tasks like answer the phone and book a new reservations while we were left waiting. The cleaning woman was very nice. The concierge was very friendly and helpful. He brought our towels straight to the pool for us and walked to the beach himself to get extra passes when the front desk ran out. I would come back to El Greco again. If you are expecting a luxury hotel, this is not the one for you. But if you want something clean and convenient, this is a perfect place.

Do not stay here – hotel website has many wrong information. Lots of mis information on their website. There is no private beach connected to the hotel. The Doctor’s Cave’s beach is elevations lower and streets away. Need to pay to go to the beach $6 per day, they provide a voucher but only one every two days. They don't tell you ahead of time. Everything needs to be paid for separately. Safety deposit box is $5 per day . Worst yet, hotel website says 24 hr check in, but once you get to the hotel, it says check in is 3 pm. We wasted a day since we got there at 9 am. Waited around from. 9 am to 3 pm. When 3 pm came, we needed to wait in line again and started the process to get our room key. People at this hotel are not friendly. They are into turning people away. They look unhappy and don't want to answer questions. There is no concierge as it advertises. Two of the front desk clerks are so unhappy they even argue in front of all of us waiting in line. Very bad altitude. Wifi is intermittent, works in the living room but not in the bedroom. TV is intermittent, once I turned it on, I can’t turn it off. Remote doesn’t work with the TV, first time I was able to change the channels. 2nd day the remote doesn’t work, TV is fixed at one channel and the remote doesn’t work. I have to unplug the power chord to turn the TV on or off, can only watch the channel it’s on. Telephone doesn't work. I asked to speak to a manager, but no manager on duty till 9 am. I waited to speak with her even after 9 am. Unfortunately she just brushed me away. Overall, terrible stay, false advertisement and I won’t come back and not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Location was good very easy access to downtown, the beach, restaurants etc which was great all were in walking distance. Room was clean and served its purpose. Security was ok no problems. Breakfast was included which when they had the food you wanted was ok. 4 of the 5 days there they had no bacon. They seem like they did not want to provide juice when you ask for it,whatever the case was something to start the morning off. Pool looked ok but did not use it because not enough chairs. View from breakfast arpricey. Very nice. Use if safe was 5 dollars per day, should have been included in the room cost. Hotel did provide free passes to get on the beach below which was helpful otherwise would have had to pay. Did have to pay for chairs and umbrella at the beach. Beach was nice, food not the greatest, drinks ok but pricy. Restaurants I ate at downtown were good. Locals coming up to you downtown asking for money, you just have to ignore them and keep walking. Overall this was a good trip because of the company I had made it great. Played golf at Cinnamon hill which was really beautiful, had a nice caddy that actually got upset concerning his tip at the end of the round mind you caddy fee was paid up front. But at end of the day I hope to return to play the Witch and Half moon courses. Book your tee times on line much cheaper than if you don't and go pay at tha course. Other good thing was ELGreco is only ten minutes from the Montego bay airport. Taxi's driver I had was good as I wanted to get some oxtail besides the jerk chicken an he made it happen. Would I do it again yes. Avoided the very expensive resort costs for this area and had a great time on a quick getaway budget.

We stayed for one night we rented a two-bedroom Suite with full kitchen big place. We were dropped off at the office and had two wheeler suitcases to block d which was a ways away. Advertisers beach pass but when we ask for one for an hour or so they said you had to book for two nights to receive this. In the one Suite the tub wouldn't drain properly so you were standing in 6in of water when you took a shower. The pool has cracked and missing tiles in it and needs some work. The metal umbrellas around the pool are from the 60s and are dangerous to be around. The free breakfast came very fast and was very good. Probably will find somewhere else to stay next time I don't recommend.

Pre-booked/paid for a one bedroom suite in Dec. for week in Feb. Tried to give us a lesser room on arrival. Telephone, TV and WIFI didn't work and kitchen was not outfitted properly. Repairs needed. Pool a total disgrace! Staff go through the motions on service but don't put the customer first. Restaurant good and service at breakfast very good,

Staff is rude (especially reception and they have lied to us with re to our booking) Old and worn down Swimming pool looks much better on the pictures Bad WiFi in our room Noisy room Breakfast limited If you stay less than 2 days you have to pay for beach access Hotel drivers try to rip you off and will be overcharging. Just take a standard taxi So many better places to go to in Montego Bay! We originally booked this hotel for 3 nights but glad we only stayed for 1 night. Awful place!

My experience was absolutely awful if it was not for the Towel Guy who I know as Monty and the bell guy (who brings and collects your luggage) I would of left the hotel by the following day. I stayed there for 4 nights with my kids and grand daughter and it was the worst time in Jamaica. The Manager of the hotel Marvell Grant needs training she is a cold and unfriendly person. Bring back Byron or get someone to run the hotel with his experience. I first visited that hotel 6 yrs ago and I fully enjoyed my stay going back in October 2019 shocked and disappointed me. The furniture was old had a really bad smell, once inside it looks like them back street motels, it is in serious need of renovation. Even the restaurant is a joke for what you pay to stay on that resort you are clearly being robbed. Sadly to say unless they get someone with more experience or of a kinda nature to run that hotel I will never recommend it to anyone or stay there again even if I was given a free booking. I visit Jamaica every year and to be honest El Greco needs closing down and revamping just like the Gloucestershire Hotel did years ago. Out of the 4 nights we stayed at this hotel: We had WI-fi for 1 day The phones in the rooms did not work once The bed sheet were not changed they only spreader the beds The TV worked for only 2 days Breakfast was good on our last day I am so sorry that I had to write this review but the truth needed to be told El Greco needs help, also they need to get more friendly front line staff 2 out of 3 of them I must say were friendly and nice but the lady with the braids ( I think her name was Shameka or similar) she needs to learn how to smile and not look like she hates her job.

My stay at EL Greco is always pleasant. The people are always nice. The bathroom and kitchen needs some updating but is always clean. Housekeeping does a wonderful job. The food at the restaurant is tops, the bar is tops as well. Overall quite comfortable and feels like home. Love this place.
