My husband and I were looking for a quaint place to stay, not a big resort,to stay for a few days prior to boarding a cruise in San Juan. This place is so quaint and Noyda, the manager, is like everyone's mother. She is full of helpful tips on vacationing on the island and even acts as concierge sometimes. She...

I surprised my husband with a trip to Puerto Rico for his birthday. I was looking for a neighborhood guest house close to the beach. Coqui Del Mar could not have been more perfect. We were greeted by Rob the owner who gave us a personal tour of the property which includes a shared outdoor hot tub, upper deck with...

I stayed for 5 nights recently. Visit PR every Jan/Feb for a few days, and have always lodged at a hotel. Thought I'd try this guesthouse, and was very pleased. I stayed in La Isla, and all the kitchen utensils and room amenities worked fine. Only a 3 minute walk to the beach, and located on a secure, private street....

We stayed for 2 nights before our cruise. We arrived super early the first day and Noyda was amazing. Welcomed us with open arms and let us stay in a little open air spot while they got our room ready. They gave us advice on what to see and do and told us about Uber after a rough taxi ride...

I stayed at Coqui Del Mar for 14 days in January with my brother and we both had a fantastic time. It is a beautiful, scenic place to spend your days - whether relaxing or getting out around town. Rob was a warm, accommodating host and Noyda and her team were a superstar housekeeping staff, offering suggestions and friendly conversation...

We reserved Coqui del Mar not sure what to expect but was so pleasantly surprised. The place was well lit and in a secure neighborhood just minutes from the beach. Noyda was wonderful and was there to welcome us even though we got in late. The courtyard was quite inviting and our room was nice. It was a nice start...

We loved this place! Everything we read in reviews came true. Noyda rocks! We arrived early morning after long travel and she provided a warm welcome. She didn't know we were coming (a mix up with our reservation, maybe). Regardless, she didn't miss a beat quickly solving the puzzle and securing a room in the guest house for us. We...

I stayed with my wife for 8 nights. We got our 1 room unit with separate kitchen, toiled and bath separated to. Bath was extra small room when bath was a cabin in main room. It sounds weird but it was really OK. Kitchen was full equipped (picture). Refrigerator big enough for wines, beers and food. Ice part separate. We...

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We agree that our location, about mid-distance between the SJU airport and the San Juan cruise ship docks, makes it ideal for a pre or post cruise stay. We look forward to hosting you again. Sincerely, Rob and the staff at Coqui del Mar Guest House

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you want to experience Puerto Rico like a local while still having all the conveniences of home, this is your place. We make you feel at home. You have private personal space (all rooms have private kitchens and private bathrooms), while in a beach side neighborhood setting away from the crowded tourist areas. You will experience some of the best Puerto Rico has to offer while living like a local, visiting the restaurants frequently visited by locals (no chain restaurants near us). We are in the Ocean Park beach area of San Juan, in between Old San Juan and the international airport. We are 3 minutes walk to the nearest beach. Ocean Park beach is one of the locals's favoites, and also a preferred spot for kite surfing and windsurfers. We are 5 minutes walk to the tourist bus route (which goes to the casinos and to Old San Juan) and walkable to restaurants and grocery stores. Each of our units have full kitchen, free WiFi, cable TV/DVD, Apple TV, in room safes, and an Ipod player. We strive to provide more than expected, and I think you will find that with us, from the beach chairs, or bicycles to the in room safes, there are never extra charges. One of the best things about us is our live in management, Noyda and Neal, who call Coqui del Mar home and welcome you as if it is your home as well. They are local experts and can help you find a great restaurant, plan a special event, or enjoy a chat. Our courtyard, bar-b-que and jacuzzi are great for meeting other guests. If you are looking for personal service and a unique, eco-friendly (we have solar hot water supplemented by electric, ceiling fans supplemented by ACs, and offer recycling), and a clean guest house for a reasonable price, then check us out. We are not a Marriott and offer our own unique sense of quirky and intimate Puerto Rico. Come join us. *Our free parking is on a public street in front of our location. Not difficult to find a spot, but it is not designated parking for our guest house and is open to all. * Airport transportation acknowledges that there is taxi service from the airport. **Free parking is on street parking ... more   less
