I have always wanted to visit St. Barts, but I was frightened of both the prices and the possibility of an atmosphere reeking with pretentious arrogance. However, this island surprised me on both accounts. We decided to go with the Tropical Hotel's off season special of $170 a night with the use of a car. We were met at the...

My 17 year old Godson, Philip, and I stayed here for Easter week, 7 nights. We booked room number 1, with a terrace facing the water. The room had vaulted ceiling with barn like wooden beams, and was done in pale blue and white. The bathroom was large with a stall shower. The staff were amazing and helped us at...

Stayed at the Tropical recently in an ocean view room for four nights. The rooms are fine and generally kept very clean. For the price (230 euros), it's an excellent value for St. Barth's given the hotel's location in St. Jean. You can walk to shops, restaurants and beach in less than five minutes. The walk back up the steep...

We had a wonderful time at the Tropical Hotel. The rooms were great, very clean and air conditioned. The beds were king size. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. What great fun to have breakfast in the open air with the central garden in full bloom and the fish moving about in the fish pond. Our waitress was one...

We stayed two nights at the beginning of November at the Tropical prior to moving into the private villa rental. The staff was neither terribly friendly or rude. That pretty much describes it across the board. The rooms were clean enough, but quite small, the TV very tiny and we had to stack it on top of an upside down...

This hotel was a good price compared to many of the other hotels in St. Bart's. It had a good view from the pool area. There were pretty flowers all around, and the netting around the bed added a nice romantic touch. The staff was helpful.

My wife and I stayed here twice. The first time was in Nov 2002 and decided to go back two years later in Nov 2004. This is one of the least expensive hotels on St. Barts so it offers a great opportunity to save on accommodations while being in a wonderful location. St. Barts is my favorite island in the...

IF you are looking to save some money while at St. Barth's this is a great place to do it. Located on the top of a hill, they serve breakfast daily and are extremely accommodating. The front desk was extremely helpful in booking a scuba trip and trying to make our stay pleasant. The restaurants and shopping will drain your...

I stayed at the Tropical Hotel back in late August during the low season and found the hotel on the St. Barts website. I read the one review "stayaway" on TRIPADVISOR and decided to email the TROPICAL HOTEL. They responded and it was sincere enough to convince me that I should stay at the Hotel. The hotel is one of...

Le Tropical is like a quaint little villa that's been transplanted directly from France. It's the anti-hotel. Very relaxing and laid back. A short walk up the hill is Le Select, a great restaraunt. Down the hill is the beach. Great location at the absolute cheapest prices. You really need to rent a car to see St. Barts anyways, so...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OPENING DECEMBER 3rd 2016 A bohemian-style boutique hotel, the Tropical Hotel has been renovated for the 2016/2017 season. A charming hotel, located just steps from the beach in Saint Jean, the Tropical was recently purchased by a specialized hotel group from France. In Phase I, the new owners decided to update the design in a more contemporary style. As a result, The Tropical Hotel has been transformed into a bohemian chic hotel, in the style one finds in Mykonos, Ibiza, and Saint Barth, a mix between large luxury hotels and small family-run properties. The 22 rooms were recently redesigned from head-to-toe, with new "Rock the Kasbah" furnishings by Philippe XERRI. The decor has simple, clean lines, very natural, and showcasing such materials as wood, cotton, and linen. The design is both simple and sophisticated-a successful reflection of the image of Saint Barth. When it comes to service, the priority is on excellent and personalized service to meet all of the clients' needs. New this year is the addition of a luxury snack service open all day. The food service is by one of the hotel group's subsidiaries, MAMAN NYC, whose menus are created by Michelin-starred chef, Armand Arnal, with salads, tapas, homemade tarts, and cocktails served in a boho-chic ambiance, already popular in New York and Toronto. A wonderful addition to the hotel scene, the new Tropical Hotel is a great place to spend an unforgettable island vacation, while discovering the charms this newly renovated hotel. ... more   less
