Having spent a night at the Tredegar Arms Inn it is safe to say it is not the Ritz but what more do you want for £20 a night? Spent the night with a group of lads for a mountain biking trip to nearby Bike Park Wales which only takes 5 minutes to drive to. The room was comfy enough...

We stayed here as a group of 7 lads after 2 days of walking. The hotel is in need of modernisation, but it is clean, everything worked. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you want a modern hotel in the town centre, it will cost you a lot more, but for the price this was perfect.

Spent a night in this place on a B&B package. The room was clean and tidy and fitted with a fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. The room was en suite shower. The breakfast was a typical full English and very tasty. Our hostess was very welcoming and friendly.

In overall the hotel and staff is ok but there were problems that were just too much to bear. We could not get connected to the wifi at all but it was a minor issue. What was much worse was the shower. We checked-in late afternoon and being after long and tiring hiking trip we wanted to enjoy long warm...

If you want to stay somewhere in the middle of a rough estate, nothing around to eat, the rooms smell, not very clean at all. I would recommend that if you want to stay somewhere cheap and you don't care about cleanliness then it's fine to stay here but my experience was absolutely horrific. There are better places that are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An 8 bedroom, fully ensuite, family-run hotel located 20 miles from Cardiff and just 5 miles from the Brecon Beacons National Park and just 200 yards off A465. The Hotel was built in the late 1820s and was originally owned by the Global Iron and Steel Barons Guest, Keen and Nettlefold (GKN). In 1900 the hotel was sold to John Basageleo whose father came to Merthyr from Italy to work as a miner and found work in a local drift mine. The Hotel has been run by the same family for the last 10 years in which time we have built a good reputation serving fine ales and beer. We have ample car parking at the rear of the premises. The hotel bar is also fully licensed featuring a range of ales, spirits and soft drinks. You can enjoy a tasty bar meal with a lunchtime drink or sit and relax with friends. Pasta, seafood, curries, salads and a choice of fresh-cut sandwiches are always available. Tredegar Arms Hotel has a policy to maintain the highest standard of service. ... more   less
