Beaches Turks & Caicos enjoys a prime location with a beautiful beach and a range of pools and activities, according to guests. However, the resort often receives criticism for outdated rooms and facilities that fall short of the high costs associated with a stay here.
While the atmosphere is generally lively and welcoming, and cleanliness is maintained across the resort, service experiences vary widely, with some staff members providing attentive care, but others contributing to long waits and a decline in service quality.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I, with our daughter and four-year old granddaughter, recently spent a week at this resort. We all had a great time, and the five stars reflects this fact. I do want to make clear, though, that five stars do not signify “perfect”; there were some glitches along the way, which will be explained below, but by and large these glitches did not detract significantly from our enjoyment of our trip.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE. Our arrival and transport to the resort went better than I expected it to. Beaches had wisely recognized that there were more people than could fit in a van and had arranged for some extra taxis to be there. The process was, overall, fairly smooth, despite the fact that there were a bunch of people heading to the resort. We gave our names, our bags were taken, we were directed to a cab, and off we went.
Departure, though, was less pleasant. We gathered at a Departure Lounge that was not terribly comfortable and did not (for those of us who prefer, thanks to Covid, not to sit around indoors in a room full of unmasked people) have decent outdoor seating. There was some water and light snacks available, but there could have been more. Things were more chaotic than at arrival, and I had some trouble finding my suitcase, which I had left outside my door previously.
Let me put in a plug here for the “Fast Track” system that they have at the airport. For an extra charge, you can have a personal escort and bypass a lot of very long lines. Unless money is really at a premium, this is worth buying, both arriving and departing.
GROUNDS. The resort grounds are stunning. You will have to go far to find a beach that is more beautiful than the one that runs the length of the resort, and the interior of the resort is gorgeously landscaped and well maintained. This is a huge resort and it may take some time to get acclimated to where things are, but maps are plentiful. There is also a “bus” (really more like a huge golf cart accommodating about half a dozen people) that makes a circuit every ten minutes. The resort is divided into “villages”; we stayed at the Italian village, which is more or less in the center of things. (Of course, all guests at the resort have access to all facilities, wherever they are located.)
The four of us stayed in an Italian Village Concierge Suite with Kid’s Room. The door opened directly onto the kid’s room (bunk beds) and then you could walk to the adult room and (smallish) balcony. The bathroom was between the two rooms. The room was comfortable, but the logistics of it presented some difficulties. If you are, like we were, traveling with a small child who goes to sleep pretty early, this arrangement makes it difficult for anyone to leave the room. Also, the fact that there is only toilet for three adults and a kid can also be problematic.
STAFF. I read a lot of reviews complaining about the unfriendly and surly staff, but I did not experience this at all. Everybody we encountered was friendly; being greeted with a smile and a “how are you?” by staff people while walking was in our experience the norm rather than the exception. However, although people were friendly enough, they were not always efficient or knowledgeable. When dining, for example, I had, on several occasions, had to repeat (sometimes more than once) requests for simple table things like butter, ketchup or more coffee. Also, at Barefoot by the Sea restaurant (at dinner on our first night at the resort) it took 20 minutes for us to be seated even though we were something like fourth in line and the restaurant was not crowded at all; then, my daughter and granddaughter, after some more wait, got served their dinners but my wife and I did not; after about twenty minutes I got up to inquire about where our food was, and it came shortly after. Talk about making a first impression! (I am not a Type A personality and am experienced with the concept of “island time”; sitting in a beautiful location for a little while longer than I am accustomed to is not a hardship. However, there’s a limit, particularly when other people in your group have been served.) A similar thing happened at Cricketer’s, later in the trip, but the times involved were shorter. After avoiding Barefoot for our entire stay based on our initial experience there, on our last day there we went there for breakfast. Despite the fact that it was open, there were no patrons there and nobody came to greet us; after a few minutes we just gave up and went to another place for breakfast.
I also got incorrect information on some occasions: for example, one night I asked what the theme buffet was for Reflections restaurant and was told it was southern night; since we like southern food, we walked over there for dinner, only to be told at arrival that tonight was Filipino night and that southern night was the next day.
As yet another example of inefficiency, halfway through our visit, the menus all disappeared from the Beaches website. Shortly thereafter, the entire website went down for maintenance and was down for almost a week. The website is now back, but, as of this writing, the menus are still missing.
ACTIVITIES. There are lots of pools, a waterpark with slides and a lazy river, and of course there is that wonderful beach. There are Hobie cats that you can take out for a sail, a glass bottom boat, and snorkel trips. There is also an area for good snorkeling that is not actually on-premise but can be walked to along the beach. However, when my daughter and I walked there, we encountered huge surf, high tides and murky waters. In fact, on all but one of the days we were there, the beach was “red-flagged”, which signified hazardous conditions, and this resulted in cancellation of many of the trips. One cannot blame the weather on the resort, of course, but I did notice that the one optional excursion tour that we paid for did not get cancelled. This was the Iguana Island tour, which stopped first at a snorkeling place, then at Iguana Island, and finally at a swimming place. The snorkeling was difficult and unrewarding, and I had to fight my way back to the boat against the waves. Iguana Island was quite pleasant, though: the island is pretty and has a nice beach, and we saw about half a dozen iguanas. The catamaran that we took on the trip (Red Dread) was pleasant and not overcrowded and the boat trip itself was enjoyable.
DINING. There are more than 20 restaurants on-site: some buffet-style, others with a menu. Unless you really are pressed for time, I recommend you avoid the buffets. None of the ones we tried had particularly exciting choices, and of course food that has been sitting around for awhile just isn’t as tasty as freshly made stuff. Here is a quick summary (in no particular order) of the places that we visited:
Bayside: serves buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice outdoor atmosphere, but the breakfast we had there seemed uninspired: just the usual eggs, bacon, potatoes, bread, juice, etc. We only ate here once.
Neptune’s: probably our favorite restaurant overall. We ate all three meals here at one time or another and enjoyed them all. Good steak and eggs for breakfast, and a nice assortment of seafood (with some non-seafood items as well) for lunch and dinner. The chocolate “pudding” (not really what I would call pudding, more of a dense cake) was great. Excellent service.
Arizona’s: my daughter and I had a great dinner here (my wife and granddaughter went elsewhere). My ribs were excellent, and my daughter’s fried chicken was exceptional as well. (She raved about it, and based on the sample she gave me, I share her high opinion of it.) This place ranks very high on my list of favorite restaurants at this resort, and I wish I had found time to try lunch here.
Schooner’s: another of our favorite places. We had several breakfasts here: there were steak and eggs here also, and particularly good bacon. The pancakes were excellent also. We also had a good dinner here. Service was quite prompt.
Jerk Shack: if you like this kind of food, you’ll enjoy this place. I had the jerk pork, my daughter had the jerk chicken, and neither of us had any complaints. The char-grilled corn on the cob was a nice touch too. Very informal and quite fast.
Sky: this is an adults-only place for dinner but is open to everybody at breakfast. Because we had a four-year old in tow, we didn’t get here for dinner but did make it to breakfast. We enjoyed the excellent views from the rooftop outdoor restaurant, but thought the menu was rather limited. My wife really loved her apple-filled French toast but my daughter and I were underwhelmed by the chocolate fondue pancakes, which were just OK pancakes (certainly not as good as Schooner’s) with a little chocolate sauce on them.
Mario’s: breakfast is buffet-style with items similar to those at Bayside, though you can order individualized omelets here. Dinner is off a menu. My wife and daughter weren’t wild about the dinner here. We all had, as I recall, the chicken parm, which I liked more than they did but did not think was exceptional. We did agree, however, that the warm chocolate tart was an outstanding dessert.
Bobby Dee’s: this is a 1960’s style diner in the water park. The food was unexpectedly very good. My cheeseburger (“smash burger”) was the best burger I had during the week, and the hot fudge sundaes here are phenomenal, with real authentic, thick hot fudge sauce.
Dino’s: this is one of the two pizza places on-site. Quite good individual-sized pizzas, and also an assortment of other stuff (paninis, etc.) available, but untried by me. Not too bad a wait, either.
Bella Napoli: this is the other pizza place. I thought the pizza was slightly better than at Dino’s, but my wife went the other way, so call it a tie. Extremely long wait (45 minutes). Don’t waste your time with the “pizza bites”, which, despite the menu description, seemed not to have any garlic taste at all.
Bombay: neither my wife nor I like Indian food that much, so my daughter tried this on her own. She reported that the food seemed authentic but very spicy.
Cricketer’s: this is Beach’s version of a British pub. My wife and daughter liked their cottage and beef and stout pies. My burger was adequate but not exceptional. Service was fairly slow and when my daughter and I were served, there was no meal for my wife. (History repeats itself.) When this was brought to the attention of the waitress, she quickly brought my wife’s meal out.
Giuseppe’s: another buffet. Despite its Italian name, there didn’t seem to be much Italian food. There was some pizza, but it was much worse than at Dino’s or Bella Napoli’s. Mediocre at best.
Reflections: another disappointing buffet. Each night has a “theme”; we went on southern night, and despite the fact that I love southern food, there wasn’t much here to interest me. Probably tied with Giuseppe’s for my worst meal of the trip.
Food trucks: there are two food trucks in the water park, one offering about a dozen varieties of mac ‘n cheese and the other offering ice cream treats. I had the cheeseburger mac ‘n cheese at the former and a vanilla shake at the latter. The cheeseburger mac didn’t have much meat in it but was moderately tasty, and the shake was quite good. Each place is certainly worth a visit, particularly if you have kids in the group.
CONCLUSION. An all-inclusive family resort that caters to families (many with young kids) cannot, I think, be expected to provide the kind of ultra-luxurious experience that one might find, say, on the highest end cruise lines. If you’re looking for that kind of luxury, Beaches is probably not for you. (For this reason, some people might think that Beaches isn’t worth the fairly hefty price tag.) But if you want a place that offers a beautiful setting, lots of activities for children and adults, and a wide variety of good if not spectacular food, you’ll have a lot of fun here.

My husband and I first visited BTC for our 1 year wedding anniversary in 2002. I said at the time that someday, when we have kids I want to bring them here. Well, that day finally came! We travelled to BTC with our 15 and 12 year old boys 1/25-2/1. I honestly could not have dreamed up a better vacation. We stayed in the French Village in a luxury King walkout with a twin trundle for the boys and the room was perfect. It met all of our needs and the location was great. Not terribly far to most restaurants and less than a 10 minute walk to the dive shop. We took the resort diving course and were able to go on 1 dive per day after qualifying. Going scuba diving for the first time was an amazing experience and one that I will treasure forever. A word of caution, the guys at the dive shop will try to tell you that you have to get your full PADI certification in order to go on more than one dive during your stay. This is NOT true. I showed them a screen shot from the Beaches website that clearly states you can go on one dive per day after taking the resort course. I did notice that many others in our resort class were duped into spending the additional $200 for full PADI cert. The one dive a day was more than enough for us. We also took advantage of the daily snorkeling trips, however, the snorkeling at Coral Gardens was much better and I wish we had taken the walk down the beach to that location more than just once. The kids had the time of their lives and we took full advantage of all of the activities. The water slides are a blast, and they enjoyed all the swim up bars. My youngest loved learning to play pool and that was an end of night destination for us every day. While there are plenty of options for eating, the food is really just so so. If you are expecting gourmet meals, you will be very disappointed. Most restaurants are buffet style and serve much of the same foods. There are some exceptions. Soy is great for sushi, and Neptunes was also pretty good. While we were not able to hit up all the restaurants, we made it to a bunch. The japanese hibachi restaurant was not nearly as good as I remembered it from 2002. The food was dry, and the entertainment was extremely loud. All of the chefs are singing comical versions of songs by Bon Jovi, etc, at the same time. I will say that my son has an egg allergy and this was handled very well everywhere we went to eat. All of the staff we encountered save 1 or 2 folks were incredibly friendly and very accommodating. Overall, I can honestly say that this was the best week of our lives!

This was our second trip to this location. We enjoyed our 1st visit so much we jumped on the chance to return. The property is well maintained and looks amazing. They have 21 restaurants all the way from a kids burger joint to top of the line fine food places. We have been to almost all of the food places and enjoyed each. They have their own dive boat fleet for certified divers offering a 2 tank dive in the AM and a 1 tank in the PM with all equipment free except $10 per day to rent a wet suit. The beach itself has white sand and crystal clear water with free loaner no powered water sports equipment. Good time for all in the family including Sesame Street characters and game rooms for the kids.

I never write reviews but I feel impelled to write one regarding our recent trip (March 2020). This was a family vacation. We have two children ages 14 and 17. Once we landed we were shuttle to the resort in a run down van with no indications of or signs on the van stating Beaches but we "followed the herd." Once we arrived at the resort we were greeted by a Beaches representative to fill out additional information on an iPad that was not working but eventually gave them all the information they needed. Then they took us to our room which was not cleaned very well, no shower curtain (which took 2 days to get one), water ring stains from the previous guest and pictures crooked on the walls. Needless to say the room needed some work and could use a good updating. The representative spoke about the 21 restaurants on the property and their 4 star rating. Well we ate the restaurants with the 4 star rating and well as you can guess they surely were no 4 stars. Maybe 3 at best. Every meal was cold accept for the yummy Bella pizza (which you had to wait for an hour but worth it). Also, if you want a chair by the pool well you better get up around 6:00 a.m. and put a towel on it so you can claim it! In a nutshell; the property is pretty on the outside, service is okay, if you want to learn about the culture forget about that, and it's not worth the money.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to share your review of Beaches Turks and Caicos. We were quite disheartened to note your sentiments as it is our genuine desire to provide each guest with service beyond their expectations. In an effort to support local businesses wherever possible, our brand also sources ground transportation locally for transfers to and from the resort. We do insist that all vehicles be of a certain standard so that our guests are comfortable for the ride from the airport. Our management team was made aware of your concerns and we can assure you they will do the necessary inquiries to determine if any changes need to be made in this regard. Also, please permit us to clarify that while the online check-in option is meant to facilitate a quicker process once you are on property, completing information via the iPad is still a requirement and we regret if there was any confusion concerning this. It was quite surprising to read about and we truly regret that you were not impressed with your initial room condition, as we have always endeavored to maintain a clean and exceptionally comfortable ambiance for our valued guests. Our Housekeeping personnel take pride in maintaining the cleanliness of our rooms and it is very unusual if a room check was not done prior to an arrival. We have since followed up with the relevant managers and steps have been taken to ensure that future guests do not have similar complaints. While we recognize that opinions will be subjective in nature where food is concerned, please know that our chefs are more than happy to adjust your meals precisely to your liking if given the opportunity to do so. We regret that it seems the points mentioned in your review were not brought to the attention of resort management during your stay as the team would have been more than happy to see that every aspect of your experience agreed with your standards. Nevertheless we do remain respectful of the opinions you have expressed and we only hope to be granted an opportunity to host you again in the future at any one of our Beaches Resorts for a vacation that is more in line with your expectations.

HORRIBLE inedible food. Unless you really don't care about quality and/or nutritious food, the meals are foul. Not to mention the drinking water glasses at meals smells the same as their toilets. My husband and I finally decided to fast and pretty much ate pistachios in place of meals. The service is barely friendly. I guess that's what you get when there is no tipping allowed. Way too many things on the beach still require to carry cash around (tubing, etc) and the only ATM is a 10 min cab ride away...?? The housekeeper leaves a bit of trash or drinking glass here and there in your room. There's no room service. You to walk a mile in the mornings to get a decent cup of coffee (espresso). They constantly force you to sanitize your hands with this god knows what chemical everywhere you go. Good things are the beach is great and we had great weather. We had a 4, 8 and 11 year old with us that didn't do much of the kids club activities because they don't do a good job of roping them in. They are shy to meet other kids of course and need to be encouraged like they do at Club Med where they are constantly annoyingly inviting you and you eventually give in and have a blast/make friends. Not so here. Everything is spread out so you don't really know when/what is happening. We spent $25k on a beach front Italian family one bedroom with the bunk beds and the biggest waste was the inedible food. Will never come to another Beaches again. Lesson learned.

Hello and thank you for your review of Beaches Turks and Caicos. We were surprised to note that some of the food served was not to your expectations. This aspect of our operation is usually considered exceptional and very often receives compliments from our guests. We therefore regret if you were not similarly impressed. We are respectful of the opinions you have expressed and recognize that one person’s specific experience can only be judged by that individual. We do request that guests on resort please notify us of anything that does not meet their standards via the Loop system, which is a direct line to resort management, as we are always willing to work with our guests to make sure you walk away feeling like your stay was money well spent. We were searching for all inclusive with white sand beach and clear turquoise water and we found it here!!! The property was large offering something for EVERYONE yet pretty easy to navigate.
Our kids (ages 13, 11, 8) fit perfect in the Italian Village family suite. It had a separate room for them with bunks and a trundle. They also had their own sink/mirror for getting ready. Plenty of closet space and drawers too! Housekeeping was great. They were always considerate of us being in the room when they wanted to clear but always came back! We enjoyed the central location of the Italian Village. The pool never seemed too loud or crowded. We never had to "save chairs".
Food was great. Of course we had our favorites but we were never disappointed with the amount or quality of choices. We were there for 6 days and couldn't begin to visit every restaurant! We were a large group of 14 and never had a problem being seated together or having to wait long. Only made a reservation at Kimonos.
We had a great trip and really have nothing negative to say. Our only hesitation in going back is the price. I wouldn't say it lived up to the 5star rating that you definitely pay for! It was a nice all inclusive property with fabulous beach/water. We have visited other all inclusive beach resorts with nicer amenities and better service for a lower price tag.

Well here’s how it started, we had 46 guest between the French Village and the Caribbean, several families had trouble checking in Some of the families show no reservations, some of the families were placed In a room that had one king bed but there were four adults, some of the guest Were placed in a two bedroom and when they made the reservation they for a one bedroom. The front desk although seemed like they were trying, we’re not making it any better.
We all finally got situated then made reservations at some of the places that required reservations and still had a wait sometimes 45 minutes to an hour pasted the time, some of the staff Are very laid-back and slow, But not all the staff was like that. One thing I must say for the staff whether it was the person mowing the grass, picking up the glasses or just walking pasted, everyone did greet you and say hello.
I must say everything is geared around staying healthy when you approach the restaurant you must be mask they spray gel in your hands so you can sanitize your hands you wear the mask till you get to your table when you go up for your food you wear the mask you were allowed to take the mask off when you were eating after they appreciate if you’d put it back on. This I do love.
We had a welcome dinner the day before the wedding hors d’oeuvres were served, the hors d’oeuvres were very good, but they only came around a few times and they were finished.
The next day for the wedding, again we had hors d’oeuvres prior to the ceremony and the dinner on the beach, this is the wedding planner and the staff hit it out of the park, it was fantastic. We could not thank them enough for the great service.

If I would ever come back here again I would change some things I would book direct to beaches, maybe that would illuminate some of the headaches when checking in. If you have young children or middle-age children the Italian Villa or village is the place to be that is the happening pool, and that is one of the bars that stay open till 2:00 in the morning
Bring lots of extra spending money if you were going to do other activities.
Bring your own mask, snorkel and sense for the ocean.
I’m not saying I would never come back I’m just saying that I would do it different.

Visited 12/23-12/29 right after the resort opened. Clean rooms, pools, restaurants, etc and staff exceeded our expectations in wearing their masks and giving Purell to us upon entering every building/restaurant. We felt so relaxed and safe, the staff went above and beyond to spoil us throughout our stay. We had a large group of 8 with my brother's family included and it was wonderful to be able to sit together and have lots of different activities each day for all to enjoy! We have never been to an all-inclusive resort before and will definitely be back. We saw the manager of the entire resort almost everywhere, he was checking on everything and meeting guests/taking feedback for any concerns. The food was delicious, the swim up bar staff was phenomenal, and overall we felt like we were treated like royalty by every single staff member. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you come to this resort, it is worth the price and we will be back very soon!

I booked at this particular Beaches resort because all the reviews online were amazing. The beach was beautiful and the grounds maintained well. For an all inclusive, the food was pretty decent. But there were many things that happened that made this destination one I wouldn’t choose again. I have never seen such slow service in my life. To get a table at one of the restaurants took almost an hour every time (we are only a family of 4). Once we sat, it took literally one more hour to eat. With young kids, this is not okay. Often when I asked (extremely politely) for something, I felt like I was a burden on the staff. In the week that I stayed there, only once was I approached at the pool about a drink order. There weren’t any waiters walking around in the busiest season. And that’s another thing, at this super expensive resort, you can’t order any food to the pool. If you want to eat at the pool you have to go to a restaurant, order, wait AN HOUR, and then come back and bring it to the pool yourself. Not luxurious if you ask me. They rave about how they can meet anyone’s dietary restrictions and make it an easy stay. We traveled with another family and ate some meals with them. They had a few allergies and had to travel to the ‘culinary concierge’ every single day to plan the meals for the following day. And even when they did that, the restaurant still served her child food that he was allergic too! They won’t even give you a slice of gluten free bread at a restaurant. You have to ask a day in advance. Honestly it took away from our experience. It didn’t help that the first two nights the fire alarm went off on our floor at 5am. It went off for 10 minutes before anyone noticed. I voiced my concerns about the allergy situation and the fire alarm and the slow service. They called to check in and delivered a plate of fruit one night. They also offered us free t shirts before we left. We paid extra for a room with concierge service - concierge did nothing and was totally irrelevant. Save your money. This trip was not worth it.

It is our 3 rd time at the resort, but our first time in the French Village, with our other stays in the Caribbean Village. We decided to try out the French Village this time as it is closer to the pool and restaurants that we preferred. On our second day here we noticed a few beetles appearing in our room and called housekeeping to remove them. They came and cleaned and afterwards we found another. I called reception and the manager (Beverly) and asked if it was a normal occurrence to find beetles in the room. They apologized and said spraying the room was a possibility (which I was not fond of as I have 2 young children 2yo and 5 yo, and unsure of the chemicals being used), and after a few conversations offered us an upgrade to the Key West Village ( which we declined as it farther to the amenities that we prefer). They then offered us a different room in the French Village (closer to the waterpark), but said they could not guarentee no beetles either. Apparently the beetles are due to the gardens outside the room doors. Beverly has been very kind and understanding ( even offering a small credit to use here during our current stay) and so has the staff, however I thought people should know of what to expect when staying in the French Village. At this time (Day 4 ) we have found beetles in our room every day and contact reception every time to remove them. They apparently crawl under the door into the room from the garden.

Hello and thank you for your reaching out to us with your feedback. While we are glad to note that you enjoyed certain elements of your stay, we wanted to be sure to address your concern pertaining to the beetles. While we have had no other complaints on resort regarding such insects, it is our policy to take pest control concerns very seriously. We regret if any encounters with the local indigenous insects would have impeded on your otherwise great time with us. Your willingness to share your thoughts is very much appreciated. We are committed to providing our guests with the highest quality services and facilities. Our Guest Services team has been alerted to your concerns and will do all they reasonably can to see that you and your family are comfortable for the remainder of your stay. You may also reach out to them via our Loop Service if you have any other requests, concerns and queries as they are happy to help in any way possible. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for allowing our team the opportunity to turn things around so that your stay ends on a more positive note.

We stayed in the French Village a decade ago. We did have 3 rooms all next to one another. If I remember correctly, 2 of the rooms had a king with Daybed, and the 3rd room had 2 doubles in it. We used the middle BR as kind of a "Family room" for everyone at night. Tucking away the Daybed & using it as a couch. Hopefully you have walk-outs. The patios are nice in the French section.
We like to travel and stay in villas as there is additional space and most importantly a washer and dryer. Enables you to pack lighter. We stayed at key West. I must share with you that we were disappointed for the value we received. The resort is very nice, accomdations average from a villa standpoint I understand the sesame camp is great. We had our 4 year old grandson with us though we chose not to take advantage of it. I must say we might have hit an off week but the food was very disappointing. The only restaurant where we all had a decent meal was Le Petite Chateau. We ate at different restaurants for all our meals and most all left us disappointed.
