The Travelodge does not have a bar or restaurant but it sits in the corner of a complex with a lovely pub/restaurant next door called The King Brychan, plus a Harvester, McDonalds, Subway, a Chinese, Leisure Center and a Vue cinema. I ate in the King Brychan and when I returned to the Travelodge I purchased one of their Breakfast to Go from a nice man on the evening shift, which was a reasonable price and very nice to eat next morning as I had an early start. The breakfast box contained a bowl of cornflakes, spoon, carton of milk, carton of apple juice, a flapjack oat bar and a pain au chocolat. I used a packet of sugar from the hotel tea/coffee tray for the cornflakes. I hope to be in Merthyr again and would certainly stay at the Travelodge again
Easy enough to find, but area felt a little uneasy. On entering there was a poor odour, only the stair cases smelt clean.
Dirty carpets on the landing walkways very noticeable.
Initially we were given a room that had a faulty toilet flush - lad working was able to find us an alternative without problem though, as no maintenance on site (minor issue through no fault of his, and he remedied it swiftly).
Is located in an area with a few eateries - Frankie and bennies, Nandos, McDonalds, a harvester and a pub next door, all in very short walking distance.
The rooms themselves were spacious.
Stay was ok for one night but I'd think twice if I was looking at a longer visit, although that's more about Merthyr Tydfil which felt a little run down, rather than being exclusive to the hotel
Modern room with everything you expect and exactly as photos suggest. Minor criticism is that there is a footpath behind that looks down into many of the rooms. It's not exactly busy but you need to remember to shut the curtains!
Parking is just in front and there are a few pubs/restaurants within a 2 minute walk
The accessible room we had was big enough for me to move around quite easily in my wheelchair .
The bathroom with the walk in shower had all the right equipment you would expect to have in an accessible bathroom.
The room itself was clean and fresh.
The looked as if it had been refurbished. New carpet & pInted walls.
The room was huge, clean & warm on arrival. Bathroom clean. New carpet. Nice crisp bedding.
Only issue was our room on floor 1 was above the reception door & other guests were smoking & chatting loudly until around 2am. Fair bit of noise from guests in corridor & lifts until early hours.
Hotel could do with someone going around encouraging guests to be quiet & respectful of other guests.
Would stay again despite this.
