Amazing hotel with amazing staff! We had 3 Butlers Dan, Charlece and Arshad and they were so attentive and helpful. They walked us to dinner every night and reserved sunbeds for us every day by the quiet pool. They regularly checked up on us throughout the day to see if we needed anything. We had a beautiful room in the West Wing with lovely sea views. The room was kept spotlessly clean every day and the towels were replaced every day too. I cannot fault the service provided by all the staff including management. They always had time to speak to us and check everything was alright with our stay. They were all friendly and polite. We were sad to leave here after a lovely relaxing holiday.

Hotel's Favourite
This was our third time at this resort. First 1999, last 2006. The second time was at the Butler level when they were piloting the program; this time Club level. Overall We got what we came for: a relaxing vacation where we could mindfully unplug and turn down our IQs for a few days. We returned rested and recharged. Very social day and night, but in bed pretty early. When we wanted to be left alone, we were left alone. When we wanted to socialize, we found like-minded folks. If we’d wanted a party this time, we would have easily found one. Lovely, well-managed, clean resort. Nice refresh of the facilities. Online Check-In We checked in online. This resulted in the smoothest check-in that I have ever experienced at Sandals. Upon arrival, we confirmed the last four digits of a credit card and that was it. Super slick. Airport Transfer Very smooth. Lovely new terminal since we last visited, and Sandals has a storefront inside the airport. The driver is an independent operator. Our driver loaded and unloaded a lot of heavy bags (Sandals require cruise wear (no tuxes!) for men in the evenings, no rules for people who aren't men). Most people both ways stiffed the driver. You might plan to keep $20 at hand. Concierge We were a mess when we arrived – the first vacation since November 2019, stressed out from the trip (I’m immune compromised, and the interpretations of “wearing a mask” on our plane varied wildly), and I lost my glasses immediately upon arrival, and we were just high maintenance as you can possibly be. The concierge, Q (she told us to call her that and I forgot to write down her real name, which did, in fairness, begin with “Q”), was awesome – so welcoming, so understanding. She was clearly having a busy day and carved out the time to get us settled, which involved some running around (I promised to meet her at Coconut Grove and went to Calico instead because she said a name with C and I stopped listening). She’s like an obstetrician, only this particular baby that she delivered safely into the world of Sandals weighs about 200 pounds. Facilities Newly renovated this year. Rooms are very clean and well appointed – elegant, not ostentatious. More modern than last time. Lovely. We were in a swim-up room on the resort side of the West Bay Block. The coolest pool in the place at the end of the day. We didn’t use the pool every day, but when we did it was a real treat. The property is spotlessly clean and well maintained - Everywhere you look, people are cleaning and maintaining the hard and soft scape. Special mention for Nadine E. Her job involves keeping the railings between the resort and the beach clean of salt spray. We saw her from the spot where we spent most of our days on the beach. She was (unobtrusively) relentless at what looked like a bit of a thankless job. It’s one of those tasks that you would only notice if someone stopped doing it. She may take breaks, but I never saw it. Restaurants Breakfast Lovely buffet at both Kanoo and Tesoro, with fresh omelet/egg dishes prepared to order. Every omelet I had was well executed – including those stuffed with fillings, and the Julia Child I asked for one day. Special mention to Makell – she’s a great cook and a serious professional with a brilliant future ahead of her. Great team player, and cool under pressure. Raymond (who seems to work in each restaurant from dawn to dusk) supports the servers clearing dishes, bringing hot drinks, etc. He moves with what Thomas Keller would describe as a sense of urgency – smooth and swift, with his head on a swivel. If I was in management at Sandals, I would trust Raymond with any task that he was willing to take on. The Sweets’n’Tings food truck is the only place at the resort to get an espresso drink. They use UHT milk which gives it an odd taste, but the proportions in my cortado were perfect the morning of August 5. No cream for coffee generally. Great selection of teas. Lunch Both Calico and (on the Sandals private island) Aralia House serve a delicious lunch, in shade, with a breeze. Aralia House is the more ambitious of the two. Every bite is delicious at both. Aralia House is worth the trip (even if one doesn’t want to line up for the first ferry to get a shady spot on the island). The Coco Queen food truck has delicious Fisk Tacos (grilled and deep fried), as well as conch salad and conch fritters. Highly recommended – these are the things we ate most during the week. Drinks Most of the hard liquor on offer is rotgut. You’ve never heard of most of the brands that they serve at the outdoor bars. The swim-up bar is a party/frat house/good ol' boy vibe. Never once saw a fight break out though, so have at it! Very slow and surly service as a rule, which I can understand at the swim-up bars (less so at the bar in Coconut Grove). There is a better selection at the indoor bars and some lovely cocktails. Nice selection of wines by the bottle at the indoor restaurants. Lots of debate over how to pronounce “Aix”. I vote for “Yacks” with a soft Y. There is a lovely cocktail selection at the bar between Butch’s and La Plume. It is actually a pretty great scene – comparable to a real bar in the world, and most folks there are up for socializing. The entire team at that bar really hustles, and Marvin is a standout. Reads the room perfectly, and knows how to get the crowd going. Covid has clearly taken the air out of the piano bar – it used to be the beating heart of the resort many evenings (although I must say, not hearing Piano Man eight times a night is a bit of a relief). Nonetheless, the singer there was very talented, and Valentino keeps the smaller crowd engaged and has great energy. And he knows how to make a drink! Dinner Food at Butch’s, Tesoro, and La Plume is continental. I would say very (perhaps very very) good hotel food. The T-Bone at Butch’s was beautifully charred. Otherwise, most steaks (though perfectly medium rare to order) were on the gray side. Lovely greens and salads at all times. Excellent escargot at La Plume. Very smooth and attentive service at all three restaurants. Jon runs a tight ship at Butch’s. Mikey is a standout (she says she’s new at fine dining but you wouldn’t know it – she could work anywhere). And look: there’s Raymond again! Gordon’s on the pier was a real treat – a nice breeze, lovely sunset. Service appropriately laid back but attentive. “Dinner on the Pier” Dinner on the Pier is actually dinner on the beach, in one of several cabanas. Wayyyyy to hot until sunset. Offering this at 6 PM in summer is crazy. And calling it “on the pier” is misleading. Our server (his name begins with an O – Oswald?) was great – we had pre-ordered a bottle of champagne, and he brought it out ice old to us on the actual pier – ended up being a lovely night. Beach We reserved a cabana for $150 for several days – well worth the money, with excellent shade. The servers were all great – Racquel (Racuel?) was the standout. Where on earth did she find coconut water for my favorite drink? There are not enough shady spots for everyone. I think a few more of those thatched-roofed round things would be in order. Island Worth a visit – we went once, and lots of people seem to go every day. Nicely appointed; seems to be a shaded spot (in various configurations) for everyone who wants one. Lovely pool, nice restaurant. Overall: as advertised. Activities Lots of fund scheduled activities during the day – a great team of activity staff. Saturday they were in and around the pool getting wet, dancing, and showing guests how to have a great time. Dennilee was a great MC for a bunch of events including TV theme song trivia. But follow her rules or you’ll have to give an impromptu dance recital! DJ Morada is truly inspired – he spun a great mix throughout the day, with something for everybody. Lots of deep tracks from popular and dance music across genres. You know how sometimes you just have to jump on Spotify and play a song you haven’t thought of in years (or a new song that you can’t get enough of every day)? DJ Morada did that all day, every day while we were there. In conclusion No reductions in star count for any of the quibbles above. Lots of folks there work really hard in the heat so we can relax. I have some pretty classy problems. Highly recommended if you’re for the beach.

I loved this property. Even tho I didn't have a butler I met Dan the butler on the elevator and he made my whole trip. I love that they take care of not only their clients but he took the time to take care of me. That is the Sandals way. I also met Jackie and she touched my heart also. Great trip all around!

Sadly only a mediocre experience. The Sandals offering has declined in the last few years and we feel having completed our next 2 stays ( 105 paid nights) this will probably be our last Sandals trip, here’s why. This time we picked a Butler room, not specifically for a butler but the rooms are better. Allocated 3 butlers, only one Arshad was anything close to efficient, Dan and Chelsea were rarely seen. Our room was not serviced twice during our stay, bar not restocked, milk missed, towels missing. Arshad tried his best with housekeeping but was frustrated at their lack of response. We discovered right at the end of our vacation we should have been turned down every night, we assumed that this service had been discontinued as it didn’t happen at all. One of the lifts not working for 6 days, long queues waiting for the other lift, but no sign to say it was out of service!!!! Comments put onto Loop but total silence! Butch’s Chop house booked for 7pm, at 7pm waiting in the queue at the desk, Dan the butler rings to say he is at our room to escort us to dinner, not that he had told us what the arrangements were, a bit late for that we are already here, he arrives a few minutes later, table not ready but eventually we sit down about 15 mins late. Kimonos dinner was chaotic, booked for 7.30, asked twice to chance to 6.30 but we were not able to change. Arrived before 7.30, table not ready, but no apology or explanation, 20 minute wait, finally able to sit down, no sign of the chef, further 15mins drinks and starters ordered, chef finally arrives and we start eating around 8.30, no one ordered desserts as by this time it was too late. I messaged via Loop my concerns. Absolute silence despite the automated response ‘we are on it’. Still no apology or explanation. We met the butler manager by the quiet pool, she asked how our vacation was going and we expressed our concerns specifically with the butlers, Chelsea not visible and Dan didn’t escort us to dinner. She promised to come back to us around midday with an update, she disappeared and we never saw here again, unbelievable!! She plainly relayed our concerns to Dan in particular who had the audacity to come to the quiet pool sit on an adjacent sunbed and attempt to justify his actions effectively calling my wife a liar about him escorting us to dinner at Butch’s, and furthermore trying to make excuses about his schedule which apparently didn’t allow him to perform his duties. His schedule is not our problem!!!! The attitude of the staff generally is lackadaisical, very few seem to have any enthusiasm for their roles. Very disappointing. The final straw was the placing into my hand three envelopes for butler tips. Tips are to reflect good service not given as a right, only one butler was tipped. Sandals holidays are expensive and have generally provided a level of service that reflects the price, not anymore, they have definitely fallen behind others offering a similar service, better value can be found elsewhere.

OMG you will never feel so cared for, well taken care of in the most sincere way! It’s starts with the GM Kevin then Nicholas, the Hotel Manager. Ricardo was a wonderful driver getting us to the airport tho we didn’t want to leave. There is Jade our concierge, Kevin (not the GM) who saw us off as we got into the car to the airport (saw him lots on the property!). There is Arizona, Darmondo, Percille, Shinille, Alfred, Lyndon, Dacia, Kimberly, Chauncey, Zoie. The food was good, the service was absolutely above and beyond, entertainment was just enough. Loved loved loved. We are already booked to go back in 6 months

This was our first time at a Sandals, we have been Secrets previously. Personally, I prefer Secrets over Sandals based on this experience. Overall the property is pretty cool but it is very compact. Dining: It was pretty good, but not the gourmet style and quality I would have expected. It is almost like a bratty game to Sandals regulars to brag about snagging dining reservations (yes - you really need to book your meals for your entire stay the second you get there! Plan ahead by researching what restaurants are on site so you can call as soon as you get in your room). You really will be removed from the restaurant if you are not in dress code. So make sure men bring pants! The buffet was so-so, again, I have had better. Rooms are pretty great. The style is old Bahamian - no modern design at this location! The resort is in a safe area also, safe to walk around off site, etc. The best part of the hotel is the private island. It's truly amazing. It's worth coming here just for that island. If you are a snorkeler - beware - there are no real lifeguards monitoring you, it's really swim at your own risk and the current can get out of control quickly. The food on the island is great, the drinks are flowing, and there is an endless amount of areas to escape to or people ready to party if that's your thing. And of course, the staff is awesome! Samuel and Genie at Gordon's, Norma at La Plumme for breakfast, Romeshia at the Queens Pearl, Shawneice at Aralia House, and the amazing entertainment crew at karaoke were absolute standouts! All willing to go above and beyond. Not sure if this is the norm for Sandals, but some of the zoo behavior of guests was gross. One drunk girl fell over backwards off the dock at the island onto rocks and had to have an emergency boat take her to the hospital. Another couple had to be put in wheelchairs by staff as they were vomiting on themselves and wheeled to their rooms. And of course there was the girl who stripped on the pool bar, for hours! Staff couldn't control her... it was something else! Overall, this place is nice. I don't like how hard it is to get a reservation for restaurants, I prefer resorts that are more spread out, BUT the Bahamas are so beautiful. It's really paradise here!

This was one of the best trips we have ever had at sandals or beaches. We chose to elope just the two of us on the beach, knowing that sandals would give us the best wedding possible, and they honestly exceeded our expectations. Heather was fantastic at all of the planning with the wedding. Our Butler’s were there for us every step of the way- ask for the team of Sterling, Eric and Vadis. They were exceptional. The food was fantastic- La Plumme is my favorite (I had the chicken cordon bleu 3x). Prince watched us like a bodyguard and gave us the best candlelight dinner experience ever. Avis in travel is the nicest lady I’ve ever met. Tabitha, Emm, Sandy and Natalie always had smiles and gave us fantastic service at restaurants. We had two couples massages, one on the beach and one in the spa, both fantastic. My hair and makeup was done beautifully for my wedding. The private island was superb. Rio and Darrington were fantastic photographers. Ask Rio for his illusion photos, they are so fun. Darrington was wonderful at capturing our wedding. FIVE STARS. ACROSS THE BOARD. Things to try Caribbean coffee off of the food truck Fish tacos on the food truck Chocolate chip cookies on food truck. La plumme Duck Ratatouille appetizer Cordon bleu Butchs Lamb Steak Island restaurant Try the catch of the day and the grouper!!!! Pizza place Get the spinach ricotta roll HONESTLY EVERYTHING WAS GOOD!! SO SO SO SO GOOD. THANK YOU SANDALS FOR A PERFECT WEDDING. WE LOVE YOU ALL! Love, SHAINA & MIKE

The resort was very nice, great food and wonderful service. We had three of the best butlers we’ve ever had and we have been to most of the sandals resorts. Shannel. Darmando and Lachano treated us like family and we’re attentive to our every needs. If you have a chance ask for them. By the time we left they were like family to us.

What an AMAZING resort! We were married here in 11.4.23 and stayed for 7 nights. We had 10 other couples join us and no one had one complaint. The rooms were spacious, clean, the grounds were beautiful and well maintained, food and drinks were outstanding and there was something on the menu for everyone. The staff was incredible! Happy, eager to help and ensure that you were well taken care of. The wedding team was phenomenal. Anna Kay was our planner and made sure everything was absolutely perfect. Shavone was the supervisor of all the servers and bartenders and went above and beyond to ensure that every guest was happy and having a wonderful time. Our photographer was Shavon and was so much fun to work with and capture our beautiful day. We had two butlers, Logesh and Nicola who were on top of everything from the moment we arrived to the second we left! They did not disappoint!!! A few other shout outs that are worth mentioning…. Static, a server at Tesoro was hands down the best we had all week. We loved him so much we made sure to have our last dinner of our trip with him. So fun and excellent service provided. Be sure to ask for him while there! D’asia who reviewed our wedding photos with us was so sweet and patient with us during our agonizing process of choosing the best photos. She had a wonderful sense of humor which made for such a fun experience. Angela and Shanda the bartenders at the Coconut Grove were the most pleasant and efficient bartenders we had (aside from the ones at our wedding). Always had a smile on their faces! Thank you all for making our weddingmoon so unforgettable! We cannot wait to return!

We recently returned from a week at Sandals Royal Bahamian. We’ve been to several Sandals resorts on other islands and we always book butler rooms. We were fortunate that the East Bay building was closed for renovations during our trip, so the entire resort was at half capacity. Nothing was crowded, it wasn’t difficult to get loungers at the pool or beach (which was fortunate when crazy winds closed the island for most of our trip) and dinner reservations were easy too. Sadly, we only got out to the island once. It was beautiful, we were sad the weather prevented us from spending every day there. Apparently October is the transition to the “cold season” and high winds are very common. The service was mostly excellent at this resort, some of the best we’ve experienced, with some exceptions. The transfer from the airport was quick and our drivers for our private transfer were excellent in each direction. Check-in was very quick and we were taken straight to our room. The butler manager, Fabian, helped us and then handed us off to one of our butlers on the way to our room. We thought the staff was very friendly everywhere we went. This resort also had the most visible management we’ve ever seen. Fabian was often out talking to guests around the resort and the brand-new GM was out all the time. (We didn’t realize how new he was, we thought he was kidding when he said at the returning guest dinner that he’d only been there 6 days!) The food was good. Butch’s had some of the best food and the best service of our entire stay. My husband got the surf & turf and his filet was cooked perfectly and the lobster tail was enormous. There was plenty of variety and we enjoyed almost all our meals. We stayed in the West Bay Oceanfront Penthouse One Bedroom Butler Suite. Our travel agent (Michael McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services) was able to get us the exact room we wanted and we were in 1601, the end room almost completely ocean-facing. He also got us the butlers we wanted – sort of. I’d heard Kevin and Ekron were the dream team, but Kevin was on vacation. Ekron was teamed up with Cece and Wellington. Ekron is definitely a super star of butlers, he was on the ball, all the time. Cece was pretty great, too. Wellington was our fill-in butler so we only saw him a few times. He’s young, but Ekron is training him well. Mike was even able to get us our airport transfer in the exact car I requested! My birthday was the weekend before we arrived and the butlers had Happy Birthday balloons in the room! Mike did great preparing us for this trip and getting our special requests fulfilled. We liked the room but considering that the West Bay renovation wasn’t that long ago, the room already seemed a little run down. It wasn’t terrible, by any means. What was terrible is that only 1 elevator in the main lobby of west bay was working for the entire week we were there! The West Bay pool, right outside our building, was the party pool and it could get LOUD. Coconut Grove, where most of the nightly entertainment was, is right between the buildings and they were pretty loud until pretty late. We turned the fan on the air conditioner on so it would run all night and it was enough sound dampening to allow us to sleep. The East Bay pool is the quiet pool and that’s where we spent most of our time. Both pools are in shade for part of the day and I thought the water was pretty cold. The crowd at this resort also seemed younger than we’ve seen at other resorts. It seemed very Spring Break-y, although we were there in October. I’ve never seen so many women in thong bikinis! All in all, it was a wonderful vacation even if we had to spend most of our time by the pool instead of at the beach. The main reason we won’t return is only because there are more resorts we haven’t been to yet!
