I traveled to Greenwood Beach Resort with my husband in March 2020 for the first time and I must say it was one of the best vacation we had in long time! Greenwood Beach Resort is not like the usual beach resort, it is secluded, peaceful and welcoming. Antoine and Pauline, the hotel managers, are just amazing hosts! They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We were both beginner open water divers and they were very patient with us, they took the time to explain all the equipments and tailored our dives with our interests. I also tried Kite Surfing with Antoine for the first time and I absolutely loved it. He was very passionate to share his knowledge of kitesurfing, He was also an excellent teaching trying to make everything not intimidating for a beginner like me. This beach is the best place to learn kite surfing because there is no other kite in the area so you will have all the space to learn freely. The food at Greenwood is simply delicious, the food is fresh and cooked according to your preferences. My husband and I also visited the Hermitage mountain, it's an absolute most if you travel to Cat Island, the view from up there is breath taking! If you are looking for a quiet place off the beaten path with a stunning beach all to yourself, Greenwood Beach Resort is the place for you. Forget the usual inclusive resort, Greenwood is a very particular hotel that will leave you speechless if you are looking for pristine beaches and peacefullness.

Great place with phenomenal hosts Antoine and Pauline. The resort was built in the 70s, but has been spruced up a bit. What really sets it apart are the numerous activities that you can do: Antoine can teach kiteboarding and rent kite gear at very reasonable prices, Pauline teaches scuba, the resort rents kayaks and lends snorkeling gear. And above all the hosts go out of their way to make sure everyone at the resort (from toddlers to retirees) has a great time. One thing to keep in mind is that the resort is on the Atlantic side and much of the time the coast can be quite windy, hence it's an excellent place for kiteboarding, but may not be the best choice if your family is looking for pristine calm Caribbean water and just lying on the beach.

Our family of four stayed on Cat Island at a different location on the sound side, but we came to Greenwood to experience the Atlantic side of the island. Well, were in fact glad to see the beautiful clear waves of the Atlantic, but we were not expecting such a wonderful, personal experience! The owner, Antoine, came out to greet us as soon as we arrived. He personally came down to the beach to show our kids (age 11 and 14) the wonderland he has crafted for families. He helped our girls on the slackline, showed the a zip line they could play on, and showed the a bouncing buoy he has set up like a trampoline on the beach. Antoine then proceeded to entertain them with magic tricks that they are still talking about ! We stayed for the day, played in the waves, and had a delicious lunch. We enjoyed conversing with like-minded, laid back travelers. If we had been staying here, we would have taken more time to enjoy the snorkeling, kayaking, and kite-boarding right out front! We will have to do this on our next trip. If you enjoy seclusion, a slow pace, and reveling in the quiet beauty of nature, this place is for you!

I had the most incredible time at Greenwood Beach Resort. I was traveling alone and Pauline and Antoine were very welcoming and made me feel right at home. Not to mention I felt very comfortable/ safe amidst the uncertain times of Covid. They are also both great teachers. Pauline was my instructor for the Reef Rescue Diver certification and Antoine taught me how to kiteboard. Both were very patient and carefully explained everything. There were so many activities at Greenwood Beach Resort even on rainy days I was able to work on a puzzle and paint. The food was delicious and seriously some of the best/ most fresh seafood I've ever had! Overall I really enjoyed my experience at Greenwood and highly recommend this resort to anyone. Pauline and Antoine take excellent care of you and go above and beyond to accommodate your requests.

Situated adjacent to prime beach setting; you can walk for miles without seeing people or houses. Food is fresh; while options were somewhat limited due to COVID-19, I enjoyed the simplified menu with flavors true to the region. Pauline and Antoine share their scuba/snorkeling expertise eagerly, and help coordinate snorkeling outings, car rentals, etc. They are also fun to hang out with! My room was comfortable and kept tidy daily by hotel staff. I didn’t venture far from the resort this time; it’s very easy to just spend a relaxed week at the resort. But I will return and rent a car for a few days to explore other locations for food and snorkeling.

We just got back from a week at Greenwood Beach Resort, had a wonderful time. This was just what we needed, a quintessential Out Island experience, very far off the beaten path. The hotel has 16 rooms, only three or four were occupied while we were there; it's a basic, comfortable, homey, very clean hotel, typical of the Out Islands; don't expect a Hyatt. Power and water were reliable, a/c was good. The owners/managers, Pauline and Antoine, were absolutely wonderful, genuine, accommodating; it was like staying with family. Food was good (remember that provisioning is difficult in a place so remote; the kitchen staff was plenty flexible). The beach is spectacular, powdery sand, completely deserted, about 8 or 10 miles long; we never saw another person nor a footprint. The skies are so dark at night, too, I've never seen so many stars, the Milky Way is very prominent and the Andromeda galaxy is easy to spot with the naked eye (can't do that back home). We had stayed here about 28 years ago; there are numerous patch reefs starting only 20 or 30 feet from shore and very easy to access; the only minor disappointment is that the reefs are pretty beaten up from hurricanes over the past few decades, but they're gradually coming back with some coral and abundant gorgonians, lots of juvenile reef fish; Pauline and Antoine are also working on re-seeding the reefs. They have a highly-rated scuba operation, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for us and I never did any diving. Overall, this was exactly the vacation that we wanted. If you want to be in Paradise, far from the crowds, and if you're not expecting a corporate resort, this is your place. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

As an older couple, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Greenwood. Younger people and families have submitted positive reviews, but we want others to know that Greenwood Beach Resort is perfect for older couples looking for a relaxing, safe, and energizing vacation on Cat Island. Maybe you don't dive or kitesail (we don't either), but the beaches are perfect for long walks, the snorkeling right off the beach in front of the resort has some beautiful coral and an array of fish to view, the rooms are comfortable, and the meals are delicious. Plus as far as we are concerned, there is no more perfect place in the world than Greenwood to just relax. This was our third visit in twenty-one years and Greenwood was at its best on this visit. Pauline and Antoine were outstanding hosts and did everything they could to make our stay perfect. They are the best hosts we've experienced at any of the resorts we've visited in our many years. If you are looking for a name brand hotel, then this experience may not be for you. If you are looking for a beautiful beach, delicious and healthy food, clean rooms and the most wonderful of hosts, then look no further than Greenwood. We just got back from nine days here and enjoyed every second of our stay. Everyone, including those who served us, was so kind and accommodating to us. BTW, add one more star if you are into kite surfing, snorkel trips or getting your certification to dive. Antoine and Pauline have a passion for these activities and it shows in their expertise
Dinners were made even more entertaining by Antoine and his card tricks. There was actually live music on the Friday night from Antoine and a guest as well.
There is some snorkeling on the beach a little off to the right. Some parrot fish, yellow fin tuna and red snappers were seen. Being that the both of us lead very busy lives, we were content with just relaxing on the beach and doing our snorkeling on site. It was a plus for us not to have a tv in the room. Internet was only available within proximity to the restaurant.
What was particularly striking about Greenwood was the number of repeat guests that we encountered. A few were making their fifth or sixth trip here. The outstanding features of Greenwood surely make a return trip quite understandable!!

Greenwood Beach Resort is a hidden gem! Paulette and Antoine are superb hosts and incredibly talented individuals. They are dedicated to providing the best Guest Service and welcome each guest with sincerity and poise. The diving is amazing, The coral nusery and natural reefs hold exquisite sights. So relaxing. The grounds are indescribably beautiful. Everything was sparkling clean. The best part of the stay is that these 2 and the staff make this level of hospitality seem effortless. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We visited Greenwood Resort numerous times during our Cat Island trip. Beach is beautiful and would highly recommend booking a snorkeling trip with them. The owners Pauline and Antwon were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful with information about the island. Relaxing place for lunch but dinner there is special with Antwon doing card and magic tricks. We did a special request for lobster one night and were pleasantly surprised they were able to get it for us. Definitely our favorite place to visit on the island!

Since we are dealing with animals living in the free world, we can never guarantee that divers will encounter Oceanic White Tips. We have seen them in December and straight thru June. Chances are good the sharks will be around in May. But again no guarantee.
