Our Happy Place

Just home from our fifth visit to Grand Isle and can't wait to head back this Spring. We so enjoyed the Christmas holiday at our happy place and it feels like home. Our family is so grateful to the incredible attention and service of Brendi Hinzey. She is so helpful and always makes our stay better. The energy and attitude of Emmerson Wright cannot be replaced. He is the life of Grand Isle and the kids love to work with him in the hut. One more shout out to Prince - he went above and beyond to make our Christmas the best ever. Thanks guys - see you soon!

Magnificent Vacation

My husband and I have been intrigued by Great Exuma for quite some time. Obviously we wanted to swim with the pigs in the crystal clear water.. lets be real. We decided to venture to this remote destination as a birthday gift to ourselves (February 2019). We wanted the resort style amenities without the feeling of being at an over populated resort, and that is exactly what we got! We stayed in a garden view villa overlooking the pool with slight ocean view, these rooms are straight up-luxurious. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities such as pots and pans, cutlery, coffee maker, dishwasher etc. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculately clean as well as bright and welcoming. Everything in our unit worked and housekeeping was on top of their game as our room was always spotless. The back patio allowed us to unwind after a day in the sunshine or a nice place to start our day drinking coffee and watching the sun rise. We stayed a total of 10 nights last February which included my birthday, as well as Valentines day. We had dinner on the property multiple times at the Palapa grill, it was delicious and included many varieties of food. Being from NY we are accustom to delicious food and i can say hands down this resort hits the nail on the head providing excellent cuisine. The beach access from the pool is nice and close and the water is beautiful and inviting. The hotel allows you to utilize their water equipment which is nice because after all, we are there for that turquoise water. You can take a romantic walk along the water where you will see Sandals and you will feel confident you made the right decision by staying at this 5 star resort, the privacy is palpable. If you are debating staying here-JUST BOOK IT, you won't regret it. I personally enjoyed dining off the property just as much, so if you are someone who likes all inclusive-the food on this island is SO great i wouldn't recommend eating every meal at the hotel! We both received massages during our stay and highly recommend the spa! Our technicians were great during our couples massage and professional. The spa is clean and punctual which allowed us to we really enjoyed our swedish massages.…

Lacks service, needs some upgrading

Generally, the resort is well maintained and clean, and safe. The white sand beach and beautiful water looks just like in the pictures. The staff were all friendly. Our one bedroom was very spacious and housekeeping was thorough. Our other ocean front 2 bedroom villa had 2 small bedrooms and 2 cramped bathrooms. Those could have been larger. The dishwasher in both villas were broken and were never fixed during our stay. Life in the Bahamas is slow, but the service in the pool-side (Palapa) restaurant was extremely slow, even just to get a drink. Hardly any staff walked around the pool area or the beach to take drink orders, so you had to go to the bar and get them yourselves. There were only 5 umbrellas at the pool so we asked the pool staff where the rest were. (There were empty umbrella bases so we assumed that there were more umbrellas). The staff member said that he didn’t know, and that was the end of the subject. You could take as many towels as you wanted, but the staff did not help you find a lounge chair or lay the towels down for you. The lounge chairs especially at the beach had seen better days (falling apart...), and need to be replaced. There were no cushions either. For the amount that you pay to stay at this resort, we did not feel it was worth the value. …

This is a beautiful spot. Unfortunately, the beach is really nice but littered with trash and seaweed- in five days saw two people picking up trash (just 2x) with a small box. Impossible to jog along the beach with so much derbies. Food was very mediocre and extremely expensive. Only a few wait staff were friendly and helpful, others acted like we were bothering them for a towel. Reception desk was very friendly as was bellhop- need to give a lesson to the rest of the staff. Could’ve used more kids activities as well. There was a guy randomly playing pool games but didn’t do much beyond throwing rings to dive for. Overall clearly a 4 star place but priced like a 5 star resort.

Great spa!

So lovely. They really know what they are doing and are just the nicest people. I had a beautiful massage with Latravia. She was highly skilled, and so kind. I wasn’t feeling well and she calibrated the pressure to what was right for me on that day. Also had an incredible foot massage with Tamara. My time at the spa was truly a highlight of the trip.

Can someone advise on the following: Is there tennis? Amenities list golf, but I see it is also associated with sandals. Is there an extra fee? Do the golf carts come with the rooms? I have a 3BR suite with 5 adults. Thank you ! Can’t wait to visit!!!!

I am very concerned with the last two most recent reviews I just read. I will be traveling there hopefully in two weeks and I'm wondering if I should change my reservation to a different hotel. The ones before were mostly wonderful. What happened ? I am worried. Especially after the storm. Liz

do the 3 bedroom villas have bathtubs?

I know this question has been asked a lot, but honestly, I'm still confused by the varying responses. We have two teenage boys, essentially adult-sized. They don't want to share a bed. If you look at the booking websites, they all say that the two bedroom villas have a sleeper sofa. That would be perfect for us. However, the agent for the resort I spoke to said no, they don't, that we would need a three bedroom villa. We don't need that kind of space. Does anyone know definitively whether the two bedroom villas have a sleeper sofa? Thanks much.

All of the villas are decorated differently bc they are individually owned therefor the resort can not guarantee the pull out sofa. If you truly do need three beds, I would suggest booking the three bedroom villa.

I’ve been twice this summer and hve not seen any dogs at all anywhere so my guess is no.
