I think that Hotel Effie has the potential to be the nicest resort hotel in the area. There were a couple of missing details due to delayed shipments for items in the rooms such as luggage racks and an ice bucket. However, I do love that there is a filtered water & ice station on every floor to fill the empty carafe that is left in the room and/or for your own water bottles. (I am not a fan of plastic bottled water at all.)
The ground floor with the lobby, main restaurant (Ovide), coffee bar, the crystal lighted lobby bar, conference rooms, & other seating areas is beautiful & inviting with a sultry essence in the dining area. While the rooftop bar & pool with an almost 360° outstanding view of the Gulf & the Bay are incomparable in the area. The spa is spacious & they use an organic product line. Most important, the service providers were outstanding! Also, dining at Ovide has raised the bar for culinary creativity in the area for sure.
I look forward to returning in the spring & summer!

Our son and family loved their stay at the hotel. Why not, it is gorgeous. I cannot say the same about the "Ovide" restaurant. The staff was marvelous and attentive. The food marginal and for a final tab of $500 for the six of us, we could have done much better. My Manhattan was served in a glass so small, Mary Poppins would be proud. Burnt broccolini had to be returned. The seafood dishes were served and finished before the meat dishes even came to the table. The filet mignon was served with mashed potatoes that had to be the size of a tablespoon, why bother? I do not buy the argument "the kinks have to be worked out". A world class chef in a luxury resort should have everything perfect from day one. We are local to this place and thought it would be our "go to" restaurant for weekly outings. We are going to pass on that thought and unless we hear things have changed, it will have been our last meal there.

Stayed here recently with the family. Love the beauty of the hotel itself and the welcoming fresh flowers and fragrance each time you walk in. Had excellent service from Brian the valet, Bruce the bellman, and Emily the server at the roof top pool. The restaurant Ovide was an excellent dinner. We had a room price reflective of the shoulder season so felt it was fair. However, in order to get a 5 star rating Hotel Effie should offer self-parking and improve housekeeping. Had 4 in our room, but only 3 towels. After multiple calls went no where, we finally had to ask a maid one day for an extra towel. We did not have the room cleaned which I would certainly expect from a luxury hotel especially post-Covid.

Let me start by saying my husband and I love to travel and we know what luxury looks and feels like it. This hotel is beautifully but that’s it. Our room was never cleaned like it was requested and we hate leaving the room and returning to unmade beds and trash esp at the price this place cost. I didn’t care for the valet because no more how many times I called for the car 20-30 minutes in advance it was never there when we got downstairs. There is absolutely no microwave in the room which was a super inconvenience with having kids. Then there is a resort fee of 30 a day. I knew this prior and didn’t mind paying it had the services match but it didn’t even though that fee should have been included in. I just expected a higher level of customer service here at 2375 for 4 nights:((

We were meeting friends and their experience was similar to ours.
Our room was ok but the mattress and pillows are terrible. The mattress is hard and lumpy and the pillows are beyond firm. I asked the front desk for different pillows but was told they had none on day 2 but suddenly they had some on day 3!
There is no make up mirror for the ladies and the MU light supplied is not practical at all.
The internet never did work on the in room TV or iPad for the duration of our stay.
The front desk advised me that it had been an internet issue for a while.
Our housekeeper spoke no English so getting towels or conditioner was a challenge.
There was no hotel info of any kind in the room and no "Privacy" card to hang on the door.
Valet parking (there is no self parking) was always a wait as they are severely understaffed.
You are unable to make a reservations at the restaurant between 3pm and 5pm.
There is no concierge and the front desk is hit or miss.
Called for a bellman but 45 min later and several unanswered calls gave up waiting.
On the plus side the location is nice and the food in the restaurant (even at NY prices) is excellent.
The rooftop pool and bar are a nice touch.
We are all world travelers but we will not return to this hotel.

Located inside a gated community of Sandestin, close to golf course and walking distance to Baytowne Wharf and lots of restaurants. We stayed for 2 nights in April 2021. Nice valet guys. Check in was quick and easy thanks to Tanesha who checked us in and even gave us free drink tickets. She was great! Our room was clean and bright. Comfortable bed, side chair and table, robe and slippers. Shower was nice. There was no microwave in the hotel room but there was a mini fridge to keep small items, water etc cold, and WiFi was free. With regards to COVID guidelines, there was a sanitizer dispenser on each floor by the elevators, and it felt clean enough not to obsess over COVID rules...noticed that a few of the guests did not have their masks, but there was no enforcement of the guidelines. Rooftop pool and bar is great for watching the sunset. Overall very nice hotel. Not on the beach but about 5 minutes away. Highly recommend and will definitely stay at Hotel Effie again.

My family and I stayed at the hotel from Monday to Saturday April 5-10. The hotel is in a great location. There is something to do for everyone especially in Baytown warf. The rooftop pool was great fun for all. Rooms are great size and everything was really clean. My only problem was that thru the entire stay, I requested our room be cleaned on Wednesday, change sheets vacuum and wipe down. Someone came to the room made our bed( no change of sheets) and gave us clean towels. I understand that things have changed because of COVID but staying in a hotel for 3 days without room service is very different then staying a week without. Hotels really need to figure this out, I travel frequently and have run into this several times. The price of hotels has not gone down but service has. There was no coffee pot in most rooms, guest can’t order food to be brought up to the rooms and no one cleans the rooms unless u ask and then it’s minimal. Overall we enjoyed our stay but for the price the managers should be able to figure these things out. I understand I cud stay at an Air B and B or VRBO but I think a vacation is much better staying at hotels.

Hotel Effie is one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Destin! From the valet parking experience with them unloading your vehicle to them opening up the doors. They also bring the luggage up to your room after you have checked in. The hotel is very clean we had complimentary breakfast that we paid extra when we booked the room for 2 days and it was delicious. The overall look of the hotel is very clean and modern. I love the look of it. This is my third time staying there and I will have to say maybe two times I've stayed that I had to call housekeeping back up to come clean up the hair off the bathroom floors and in the room. My only complaint is that they need to have Swiffer sweepers to clean the room instead of brooms. The best could be a little bit softer they are more on the firm side but overall the stay is great. The pool is heated and the bar on top of the rooftop is amazing. I love the Baytown area when you walk outside of Hotel Effie you can go left or right and it is the most beautiful place in Destin to me. I enjoy my stay at Hotel and can't wait to go back!

Booked and reserved 2 master suites with Balconies, Hotel calls and request 20% deposits, upon arrival I am put in a room with NO balconies, Hotel is NOT on a private beach as indicated, you have to shuttled to a beach. Can't park your own car, valet is only option at $50 per day plus tips. Don't forget anything in your car either, takes forever to get the car brought back up. Save your time and money and avoid at all cost, you will NOT get what you pay for. You will get extremely rude staff rolling there eyes at you. That's it.

This is a beautiful hotel in a convenient location with a friendly, hardworking housekeeping staff. That’s it for the positives. The negatives list is longer. The bed in our room was not nearly as comfortable as the HI Express bed we slept in on the way to Florida; in addition, the sheets were scratchy and felt cheap. I was told to call downstairs to the desk if I needed anything. Never—not once—were any of the calls I made answered. Each time, I had to take the elevator down to the lobby and stand in line to ask anything. I was told to call the desk for towels—nope. I finally would catch someone from housekeeping in my hallway to get towels or coffee. Speaking of coffee, the Lavazza Espresso machine in the room was wonderful but loud. I, after trying several times to get someone on the phone, made 2 or 3 trips to the desk to ask that someone come move my machine into the bathroom or bring me a second machine (neither I nor my husband could figure out how to unplug it), so I, an early riser, wouldn’t wake up my husband. Each time, I was told that it would be taken care of. Nope. The Hydration Station is a great idea but it obviously requires more oversight than is available and only was operational 50% of the time. There is no parking near the hotel and it’s $25 a day for valet parking, which, if you’re Seniors and exhausted after an 8 hour drive, you’ll sign on to, but I would rather have more of a choice. I see that most of the positive reviews were due to the spa.

If I remember correctly they aren't even beachfront. Id recommend bringing everything you'll need to whichever beach you go to. Go down to the 30A for the best experience.
Yes there is a charger
For the cabanas. The price is different for weekdays and weekends. We spent 400 and it was not worth it. The curtains ties were broken and the shades for top were broken as well. They do not come out and take your order for food or drinks,you have to go into the bar and order yourself. Just not worth the money.
i enjoyed my stay there. The spa was fabulous. We spent a day in Rosemary and one in Destin. It was easy to visit both. Depending on time of year, the traffic in Destin can get congested
