VRBO had a listing of a pet friendly oceanview condo that was available on a holiday weekend and we grabbed it. Unit 4212 Located on the 4th floor it overlooked the beautiful gulf and was within walking distance of several restaurants. The complex was large and appeared to be at capacity. The grounds were well maintained and the unit was well appointed and clean. A likely do-over.

The hot tub and gym are creepy. The clubhouse has mirrored glass in a room that is locked from club members. One mirrored windows look into the gym, and the other window looks out to the hot tub. The one in the gym has blinds with a sign that says, "please don't touch the blinds." They don't want you to have your privacy. The gym also has a camera to watch people working out. What's the room used for? Reminds me of a strip club in San Francisco, but YOU are the stripper and you're not getting paid for it or signing an agreement.

Great amenities like basketball, tennis, 2 pools (one is on the beach), shuffleboard and a fitness center (needs some updating and new equipment). I liked the smaller resort feel. Great feel and easy access to everything including shopping and restaurants.

I would give it no stars but it is pet friendly. Miramar and Destin area is pretty but that's all I can say about it. I will not be returning. I have been to much prettier, friendly, laid back beach towns. We were not allowed to sit in our chairs with our umbrellas near the water in front of the beach chair service chairs (which were hard and uncomfortable). And they have our seats in the rear second or third row. If you have young children, as we did, who like to play in the sand and ocean water edge, it is a safety issue to not be allowed to sit where you can see them well or get to them quickly in an emergency. The chairs took up about 95% of the space near the ocean. They were lined up almost completely across the ocean/beach front. They said we couldn't sit in front of the owners chairs with umbrellas but it gets extremely hot sitting in the sun with no umbrella for an hour or two and I got a feeling the owners did not like us sitting at the waters edge either when we put our umbrellas down bc of all the dirty annoyed looks we got so I don't think that mattered. Even though the people we rented from were "owners" we were not privy to the same rules because we were "renters" and half of the chairs were empty most of the time. We literally felt harassed by the beach service people. They were extremely rude and kept telling us different things. They threatened to not allow us on the beach if we didn't move to the back. Got a call from our rental company and they said the HOA called and we were not allowed to sit in the front and they would have us removed if we didn't move. The beach service people said they were following orders from the HOA. It was a big mess and just about ruined our vacation. I hold the Maravilla HOA responsible for this mess! We didn't even go back to the beach the last 3 days. I have read several social media post and have heard from various vacationers that most of the beach area in Walton County/Okaloosa County and Santa Rosa are becoming that way. Owners don't want anyone sitting in front of them. IMO, most of the people in Destin and Miramar Beach were rude, the place was extremely crowded and traffic was terrible. They finally have several restaurants on the beach but they were over priced and the wait was long.

There are way too many rules at this place. You are assigned seats on the beach. You cant just pick out a set of chairs to sit in on the beach. Cant smoke on the beach or the property. They say quiet time is from 10pm-10am but there are dogs barking constantly here. Beach is too crowded and the umbrellas and chairs are set up way too close together. Just not my type of place or vacation.

Nice place. We stayed in 1206, 3 bedroom 2 bath condo. The condo was clean and stink free. Check in instructions were sent about 48 hrs before check in. All the codes were correct. The heated pool was nice, quite large with plenty of spectator seating. The property itself is getting close to needing a facelift but that does not detect from the experience. The beach access is just across the road. Nice place, we would stay there again.

I had a split reservation 5/31 - 6/4. The first unit we got was okay no problems. The second unit 1104 was terrible, this after waiting in the heat for room cleaning. Which was half way clean, pictures to follow. They then texted me the day of check out to advise me we had to be checked out at 10am. They did refund $200.00. Our flight was not until 830 that night. They told me they had a place for us to store our luggage. Long story short when we arrive there wrong number on the door to be let in, all the office staff was on the second floor and could not be contacted. In the future I won’t be in a hurry to try to find something last minute.

Maravilla in Destin Florida is a wonderful place to stay. Maravilla grounds are meticulously kept with condos and cottages for rent, many of them by the owner. Rates are very reasonable for the Destin area. We liked it because it is located on Scenic Gulf Drive along the beach in an area with not too much traffic and is uncongested. There are two pools, one heated seasonally, an exercise room, tennis courts, great parking, beautiful gulf views and a private beach for use only by Maravilla guests.

We just got back from Destin and stayed at the Maravilla for the first time. I highly recommend these condos. We booked the Maravilla by recommendation from a friend after a cancellation from The Islander due to some damage sustained from Hurricane Dennis. We had a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo. They offer 2-4 bedrooms condos also. We stayed in building 2 on the 3rd floor and the view was incredible. Buildings 2 and 3 only have partial(still a great view). A few mornings we were lucky to spot dolphins. The grounds sits on 33 acres with condos and vacation homes. There are 2 pools (one heated in cooler weather), jacuzzi, tennis courts, shuffle board, clubhouse with exercise room, BBQ grills and lots of grass area for kids to play in. The grounds are kept very clean. Its located close to shopping and restaurants. Pets are allowed per approval of the condo owner.
Our unit was newly decorated and very nice. It included a washer and dryer which was a plus(I believe most units would have this). I didn't have to get coins and go to a community laundry. The beds very comfortable and we were lucky to have a unit that had some condiments in it already! Simple things like salt and pepper.
The beach is a private beach and very close. Some of the condo units include the umbrella and chair rentals for the week. You can have your personal spot reserved for $5.00 per day and they will put your name on a index card and attach it to your umbrella. The service is up and ready by 830 every morning. They also have personal watercraft for rental.
We are definitely going back again and have already contacted the owner to reserve his 3 units for next year!

$40. Much cheaper than the $500 fine. Go to Walton county website or google “pet permit for Destin”. I tried to include the link but this system won’t allow me to do that.
There are more places to choose from in the Miramar Beach area.
