I have been coming to this corner of Kirkcudbright, boy and man, for nigh on 60 years and always make a point of having lunch here. The exterior has had a refreshing face-lift and looks very chic. We arrived around noon on a Friday and got the last table for four in the Conservatory. The well-dressed gent always seems a...

The Hotel is located in extensive, well manicured grounds. The rear bedrooms overlook the bay when the tide is in or the mudflats when it is not. The front rooms overlook the well maintained gardens. The building is a bit of an architectural nightmare being a traditional country house to which a number of unattractive extensions have been added. On...

We have been coming to Balcary Bay Hotel for 19 years on and off and can honestly say that we have not had a bad experience. The setting, ambiance and cuisine are first class. This hotel has been in the same family for a good number of years and have clientele that return year after year which say's everything about...

What brought us back for a second visit to Balcary Bay Hotel? - comfort, excellent food with a daily changing menu, friendly staff, capable and unobtrusive management, fine views and a good centre (provided that one has a car) for visiting the country round about (the Solway Coast beloved of artists), all for a very reasonable price

Stayed here overnight in a single room to round off a 2 week holiday in south west Scotland If you're looking for a sedate hotel with old fashioned standards of service then the Balcary is for you The room was lovely with a modern ensuite. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. The evening meal...

This is one of the most beautiful locations I have visited recently along with my young-at -heart parents. The hotel is down a quiet two mile road and over looks a quiet and scenic bay. It is peaceful and tranquil and the place to escape from life's busyness ! The hotel itself is clean organised and most obliging and friendly...

This was the third time that we stayed at the hotel. We had a room with a excellent view and an external area where we could sit. The breakfast was superb, the lunch was limited in choice but very good, the evening meal was excellent with plenty of variety.

Have visited here twice now, if you are looking for rest and relaxation in a spectacular setting then this is the place, food is delicious and well presented, one little gripe is that when one course is finished you are immediately presented with the next one, I felt that caused the dinner to be slightly rushed, clientele tends to be...

A wonderful experience. The food, the Bay facing room, the secluded location and the staff, all made our stay an absolute joy. The surrounding area also offered plenty to see and do. We will be back at the earliest opportunity.

We stayed at the Balcary Bay hotel over the bank holiday weekend it is beautifully situated on the side of the water with stunning countryside to the rear. We were fortunate to have room number 10 which was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean with a fantastic view over the estuary. We dined in the restaurant on all three nights the...
