Just back from 2 nights in Rose Cottage, 2 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs. Rise cottage is beautiful, cute enclosed garden (but could do with a gate at entrance to stop dogs/children escaping into the wider estate) . We arrived early and were lucky that the cottage was ready and we were allowed access before the 4.30pm entry time - I get rooms need cleaned but 4.30pm is late for access and as 10am checkout made our 2 night stay very limited. Estate is lovely, beautiful grounds and close to amenities by car to allow lots of fun days out. Whilst visiting we went to the pool, booked by the hour due to Covid, onlyb2 families in the pool and one family per changing room, great and felt very safe. Putting on site was fun, was a lovely sunny day, didn’t take too long and worth a wee try. Bistro was lovely and as dog friendly we were able to have breakfast altogether, staff very friendly and would definitely recommend. Rose Cottage has a private hot tub, well worth the extra cost, my son would have stayed in all day and night lol. Great at night to see the hot tub lit up in colour. We paid to have 2 lots of logs on arrival for the wood burner, disappointed that 2 lots didn’t even last us one evening, but fire was lovely when it was going. Overall would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay for a few days.

Stayed here from End of October 2020 for a week in a Castle Suite. This was a 3 bedroomed apartment with a main bathroom and an ensuite in the main bedroom. There was also a random shower and sink combo (no toilet) in the second double room. Apartment was lovely, though some of the furniture and curtains have seen better days. The decor though was reasonably new, with more modern pictures to bring the old and new together. This apt had 2 fridges and 2 freezers. This would be ideal if fully occupied. Sadly due to restrictions we travelled as a couple, and the apt had more space than we needed, however was booked in February before the world fell apart.
Rooms: Beds were a little too firm for us (though this is obviously a personal choice). Not a lot of hangers (advise take a few extra). There is a TV and DVD in both main bedroom and the twin room. However there is only one socket for 2 devices (a two way adapter would be handy if you wanted to use the DVD). We only required the TV so no issue.
Bathroom: The water pressure in shower is light. The spa bath though is a nice added touch.
Kitchen: All the usual appliances, lacking smaller chopping knives. There is also a washer/dryer in the boiler cupboard.
Lounge: plenty of sofa and dining space. The radio though has no cable and plug (batteries required if you want to use). We took our own mobile wifi and therefore we did not use the provided free wifi, which we read was poor and only 2 devices allowed on it. We had great signal with 3 and we were able to stream everything we needed with our own mobile wifi.
Lindsay room: Exquisite food, excellent service. Excellent value for money.
Bistro: As above.
Pool: Booking service in place for social distancing. Clean, warm pool. Sauna out of use (presumably due to Covid...understandably)
Ground: Stunning.
We highly recommend this resort and we would love to return again in the future. Lovely part of the country with many small villages and towns to explore.

We travelled as a party of 6 adults, and 3 children to celebrate our son's birthday with our extended the family.

Check in was faultless as there is an express check-in available where you can simply enter your villa where your keys and estate pack are waiting. It's a great service. aong with the ability to pre-buy credit for use in the restaurant. We stayed in Villa 2, which sleeps up to 10 folk. There was ample room, including an unused upstairs that we put to good use for storing our luggage.

The Villa does look a little dated in the bedrooms it has to be said, but everything was spotless and there was ample crockery, cutlery, cups, and glasses to do us over the course of our stay.

The Villa also comes with its own sauna which was put to so much use while we were there. It was brilliant.

Any time we had to go to reception, they were always friendly, and nothing was ever any trouble for them. Booking for swimming, tennis, table tennis, badminton, and snooker is all done through their website which worked perfectly for us. They have COVID management down to a fine art and we never felt like there was ever any worry about too many folk in the pool, or otherwise.

Checking out again, was a similar painless experience as it could all be done remotely once again.

The estate is a fine location for exploring the East Neuk of Fife, with Elie in close proximity, and an easy drive along the coast to all the Fife fishing villages and up to St Andrews.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa for 1 night. A family of 4. The receptionist was a very lovely Polish lady who obviously loved her job and made us feel very welcome. Only down point was they wanted to charge us £3 to hire a cot. What a totally pointless charge. I said no as or child probably wouldn’t sleep in it but a bed was too big so we pulled the mattress on to the floor which did her fine.

Our building was great. Space to park 2 cars which we needed. The villa had everything was warm and cosy when we arrived.

We call the restaurant to book a table. I could tell from the phone call this was going to be a mistake. The older waiter was terrible. Too set on his rules of who did what job, him vs the younger lad. No, just get the job done, I’ve 2 young kids to feed right now and they don’t care who writes it down.

Surf and turf - they’d ran out of tiger prawns so our alternative was a pot of prawns swimming in a liquid of I don’t know. It was vile and not surf and turf but still £16.95. Our steaks were not as we ordered them. Pudding came with squirt cream, I think that says it all. The next day we found out we’d been charged £3.95 for my child’s 2 scoops of ice cream.

On our arrival a woman was asking for a takeaway menu at reception and apparently they delivered too. I wish we’d done that.

The swimming pool was fantastic. Lovely clean changing rooms and great pool. Baby pool could be warmer. Towels at the side of the pool was an added bonus. Games room upstairs killed half an hour and we were all happy.

Had a fantastic time and would definitely return but not go to the restaurant.

Let's be clear, this is not a hotel, my room was down dark alley at the back of the kitchen with all of the accompanying noises therein. The door opens out into the alley way and is a glasswork paned door, the room is small, dark and the furniture is old tired and squeaky. If I had not paid in advance I would have left immediately. This all sounds dramatic but I was persuaded to stay by the lovely looking rooms on their website, this room was clearly a store for the kitchen at some point. What a misspent opportunity this is, Kilconquar Castle Estate sound like a place you'd want to spend time but it quickly falls apart after you sweep in through the grand gates. They've built a crap 1980s housing estate in the grounds and called them lodges, all looks rather tired. The redeeming features, the staff are helpful and chef knows how to cook.

We have been visiting for 9 years and have spent many a family holiday at the Woodcutters, including Christmas. Always given an excellent review until this visit. Although the cottage still has all the charm we love , what we did notice this time was a real lack of attention to detail, especially for £250 a night. We arrived at 4:30 to find cleaners still there so we waited in the car patiently, totally appreciated that things take longer right now. What we were met with on arrival was soaking wet kitchen and bathroom floors. At least it smelled clean. What we discovered throughout the stay was, once that bleach smell was gone, was bedroom curtains that smelled so badly of damp in both bedrooms that it overpowered the house. We found a corn plaster stuck to the bed clothes, stains on bedding, carpet wasn’t clean and lots of dust. Robes were tatty with broken loops. The worst was nuts on a chair I’m thinking from a previous visitor and someone in our family with an allergy. We ended up cleaning the cottage ourselves. I did let the team know and they couldn’t have been nicer and did apologise and said they would let housekeeping know so it didn’t happen again. I think it’s maybe time for the woodcutters to have a deep clean and some new furniture and curtains as it’s starting to lose its rustic charm and looking a wee bit tatty.

Just back from a family holiday from this beautiful estate .Villa 102 was well designed with 3 spacious double size bedrooms ( 2 double /1 twin) and 3 bathrooms, decorated to a high standard.
Our villa was in a spotless condition on arrival with Hot water and heating on ( as requested).Cot and high chait was provided for a nominal fee.
Staff at the estate were very polite and helpful.
Beautiful and well maintained grounds.
Just a pity that due to Covid19, swimming pool and Gym were closed but certainly a plus point.
Horse riding session was reasonably priced.
Although we didn't dine at their restaurant but were impressed by their outdoor covered cubicles with table and chairs laid out for dinning
Beautiful clean beach in Ellie , just about 7 minutes drive from the estate with magnificent Coastal walk path.
Londis ( convenient store ) 3 minutes drive.
We will certainly book it next year.

Thanks to The Estates / Self Catering Manager and all staff.

Our stay at rose cottage was fabulous. The cottage grounds were very private and the hot tub was well used! The cottage has everything you would need for a short stay although we only really cooked breakfast. We ate at the castle bistro which was good food and served by very friendly and efficient staff. Our weather wasn’t great with the rain on a few of our days but it gave us an excuse to use the log burning fire! The activities on site which were open were easily accessible and the man at the equestrian centre was so good with my granddaughter and gave her the confidence to trot and relax on the pony. That was great value for money and would recommend it for sure. Overall the location is quiet but picturesque. It is in the right place to drive to the other wee towns nearby like St Monans, pittenween, crail and Anstruther. The water sports at Elie beach were also reasonably priced and didn’t have to book.

We could not have asked for a better stay . The villa was lovely , the grounds immaculate and the customer service was second to none. Food and the service at the Bistro was super and we were always made to feel extremely welcome. First day we just enjoyed sitting out on the patio looking over the large span of grass on the sun and just enjoying a relaxing time. And the location means over the other days we could jump in the car and visit Elie , Anstruther and St Andrews ( and there are many more place to see within a short distance ). One minor complaint I do think a 430pm check in time is a bit late for accommodation especially when the check out time is 10am unlike most places which are 11am check out time and check in usually no later than 3pm . Otherwise terrific holiday and would highly recommend

We stayed for 2 nights.....Hotel bedroom was small, painted dark grey which gave the room an even smaller feel to it. The bathroom was awful .... The shower needs a good clean as we found the curtain was dirty and smelt. And behind the radiator in bathroom needs a good clean as the dust was so thick it was grey, think someone needs to inspect the cleanliness in the hotel rooms. The pool was good. Also the food in the bistro was good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Disappointed in the hotel room.

Hi there. I just love ❤️ that place. There is a games room, think there was quad bikes, horse riding . Even just the walks are lovely. There is a village you can walk to as well. There are buses that you get outside but not sure of the timetable. Plenty of space for the children to run themselves tired. A good , well equipped kitchen is in your apartment. We tend to take the majority of our food with us, that way we can get up when we want , eat a meal without having to go and get dressed up lol 😂. My sister are a few times and enjoyed the meals . Have a fantastic time and hope the rain stays away 😃😃

There is a small area around a bar, and a larger area of seating outside the bar. Not really a meeting place. There is a play room, but it is for very young kids, and it is poorly supplemented with old toys. The area around the pool, and gym etc is where most kids would meet, and there is a table tennis table available. This area is not far from the bar.
