7’th visit to mulu staying at the national park yet again and we’ll be back. Accommodation was clean, tody, air conditioned and right near 1min walk) to the departure point for all the tours so you could nip back to the room at lunch. We did a recap of our previous trips to show the wider family who were travelling with us: Day 1: Deer and lang cave - spotted a couple of snakes on the way then had a great explore round the caves before chilling and watching the bat exodus. A little disappointing that the drink and snack counter at the bat exodus viewing platform closed whilst we were still in the caves but we’d brought snacks for the kids anyway. Day 2: Clearwater and cave of the winds has a lovely boat ride then an explore of the caves which are well looked after. Saw a large racer snake in cave of the winds. Fast lane for an explore of an unlit cave where we saw lots of insects, crabs and a racer snake shedding its skin on the boardwalk. Night walk where we saw numerous frogs, insects and bugs. Day 3: We did the canopy walk first thing seeing a rhinoceros hornbill and getting close up with the jungle canopy. Then we went on the long langsat river walk. Due to the water levels our boat man took us all the way up to the waterfall where the kids had a swim. In the afternoon we chilled out before going on another nightwalk to see multiple snakes, spiders, etc. Day 4: Early morning visit to the treetop tower then chill out before flying back to miri.
Food everytime was the park hq cafe which was lovely again. They very kindly did glasses of milk for our son even though its not on the menu.

Stayed in mulu kingfisher lodge for 3 nights. Love the lodge, has air cond, kettle, lovely hand held shower. Twin beds comfortable. Lodge very clean. Staff are very helpful and courteous cafe serves good food not too expensive. Included breakfast has good choice. Love the nasi lemak for breakfast abd curry chicken and nasi goreng for lunch or dinner both cost around 16 to 18 myr. However there is a cafe outside call sweetbar cafe opens at 630pm. Food is cheaper. We had curry fish at 15myr. Local vegetable at 8myr lively and they gave us free rambutans. In mulu we join tours to deer and lang cave, saw bat exodus after, join canopy walk and fast lane and lanang caves. We are happy with all the tours and guides. Broadwalk to deer cave though 3.8km is easy level walking. We had a great time. I love mulu park and caves. Thank you to the staff for a great stay. Regds Shy

Basic stay. We stayed in the garden bungalow for 2 nights then had to move to the rainforest lodge as the bunglow was fully booked. We booked months in advance so be sure to book the rooms early if you want to stay here .
We loved the charm of the bungalow - it reminded us of summer camp! Beds were comfy enuf, the air con was cold and shower was hot! It is quaint. Rainforest lodge was just a bit smaller and attached to other units - it was definitely renovated more than the bungalow.
Included breakfast was basic and same every day. You can buy lunch and dinner but it’s not that great. If you go just outside the bridge into the park there’s a little place called Good Food. It does have good food and free wifi. No service in Mulu if you need to stay connected.
All the excursions are amazing. They are rather taxing tho… read up well so you know what you will be doing on your excursions. We walked over 15 km most days with our excursions!
Best thing about staying here is that you are staying onsite - makes it way easier to go on excursions .

There was a miscommunication when we stayed at Camp 5. We were told a mosquito net and linens would be provided. We were not prepared for a simple mat next to 15 other people. It is a clean accomodation in the middle of the jungle with great staff who prepare tasty foods. Make sure to bring a towel and toiletries for the the cold shower, a pillow, and a sense of adventure!

This place was amazing to stay at, right in the heart of the Heritage Mulu National Park with every activity at your fingertips.
We stayed in the Family Longhouse and what a treat to have so much room to spread out in. Definitely not too original as we had air conditioning and fans and running hot showers in a spacious bathroom.
Only thing to remember is that you will need to bring or buy your own water as you cannot drink the water there.
We ate each night at the park cafe which was delightful, as were the staff, with plenty of choices. Breakfast was included in our price.
Don't think twice, just do it and forget the fancy place, this has character that cannot be matched.

We had already booked our accommodation and tours before arriving via email and found this part of the process great. However, when we arrived at the park they didn’t have all of this recorded and they were having to look through all the paper booking folders to find everything we booked. We left after paying thinking everything was done. We just happened to go back to the reception to ask about a walk later and they enquired where our wrist bands were for the park we had no idea what they were talking about as we had not been given them. They then presented us with paper work that had all of our booking details printed out including the tours.
The hostel room had around 14 beds with 2 men’s shower/toilets and 2 women’s at the back of the building. There is no key for the hostel door and no plug sockets next to beds. There were a small number of plug sockets in the middle of the room. Lockers are in the room but you need your own padlock. The first 2 nights were great there were only 3 of us in the room. However, this all changed on the last night when a large tour group came and took all of the other beds. They were extremely loud before 6am in the morning for over an hour and showed no respect for others trying to sleep. Their guide then also came into the room shouting to round them all up for their tour. I think in these situations the park should rent the whole hostel room to the group or make it clear that you follow the unwritten hostel rule of not making excessive noise before 7am!
The breakfast included within the room rate was really good as was the food at the park HQ in general. Everything shut at 8:45 in the park. If you can find accommodation just over the bridge from the park this is as good as staying in the park. We booked the hostel to avoid having to get lifts all the time.

We stayed in 2 different types of accommodation because we were there 3 nights and there wasn't accommodation available in the same room for 3 nights. First was the more expensive deluxe garden bungalow. It was big but smelt very musty, with very Creaky floors! It had a lovely outdoor area to sit at and was in a quiet area. The second one was the rainforest lodge, cheaper and I liked it better. There was a chair to sit on inside, as well as the balcony outside. It was smaller but smelt better. The downside was the air con seemed to be on a timer so it went off at night when sleeping. Each room had a jug for tea and coffee but no fridge, but powdered milk was supplied. They have limited facilities (a generator is used some of the time) so that's part of the reality of its remoteness.

We booked to stay here for 2 nights in a private lodge for 2. The room was big and everything you would expect from being in the middle of the rainforest. We had already pre-booked our trips we wanted to do through emailing the park HQ but you can book these on arrival. On arrival we paid for all of our trips and we given a park map. The staff are really friendly and recommend trips to do. Thé café at park HQ is great. They have English and traditional food. The price is great and the food is delicious. The satay chicken is the best we had in Borneo! As soon as you enter the park, you have a great feeling as you walk across a little suspended bridge straight away. The park has security so when you want to go and do any of the trails you sign in and out. They have recommend walks you can do. The look out tower is good. The signs around the park are really good and informative. We booked on a couple of trips which were the skywalk, night walk and deer and Lang cave trip. We were supposed to do the garden of Eden trip but unfortunately we couldn’t do it. The skywalk is amazing and I would definitely recommend it. We managed to see some monkeys in the trees and because they keep the numbers to a small group and you can only have a couple of people on each bridge it feels like it is just you and your family with you. The night walk was amazing, going into the rainforest in the pitch black is incredible. The guides are amazing and know where lots of the animals hide. We didn’t see any big animals but saw snakes, spiders, scorpions. The deer and Lang cave was my favourite trip! The guides are incredible and we learnt lots of new information! The cave is out of this world. We were so lucky and managed to see the bat exodus where around 2 million bats fly out the cave. There is nothing that can describe the experience and we felt so lucky to be able to see it.

I travelled here with a friend. We stayed in the rainforest lodge as the dorm was full. The room was ensuite and was outstanding. To find this in the middle of a jungle was simply amazing.
The facilities for where you are are excellent. Food very good. Quality of guiding excellent, visitor centre very informative. The internet isn’t great and I definitely think this is not because of the location as locals were streaming films and games etc. This should be looked into as travellers need to be able to book flights etc which we did have an issue with.
Food and drink is a bit more expensive than the average on Malaysia, but hey you’re in the jungle! Very much recommended and I WILL be back!!!

The gardens bungalows are beautiful and very comfortable. The cafeteria food is good although you have to have time. The visits were too comfortable, no adventure here (although we visited very nice caves!). It would be nice to have intermediary treks (either you get the family ones on boardwalks, either the very difficult 5-days to the pinnacles). I would have liked one-day jungle hikes without boardwalk. There is a very short one to the waterfall but it takes only 30 minutes out of the boardwalk.
