A basic hostel run by friendly local people (nice to be able to support the local economy!!!!)
Right outside Mulu National Park HQ (2mins walk) with dormitory style accommodation. (Also 2 smaller rooms).
Breakfast included.
Backs onto the river where you can swim in the clear water and watch the world go by ( I swam/floated most days).
35RM per person (Dec 2011).

There was food served in the evenings on some nights but there is a great eating place next door and there is also the cafe in the Park.
The hostel has a bar to get cold drinks and beer and chat with the owners or Park guides, who seem to come in for a drink in the evenings.
A friendly and welcoming place.

Room Tip: We had a smaller room which was good for privacy but got quite hot. The dorm room seemed cooler.

Not the cheapest in town you can go over to D Cave for 25MYR instead of 35MYR (both have good breakfasts that is included). Very close to the national park entrance (2 minutes). Also if you want to save more money you can walk from the airport ( like 15 minutes/ 1.5 kilometers) or you can opt out for the shuttle service for 5MYR per person. The lodge itself was sufficient. One big room with 24 beds and a bathroom with 4 stalls. Clean and a good place to meet people. Also another money saver, you can refill your 1.5 litter water bottles for 3MYR instead of buying new water for 6MYR.

We organised our booking via whatsapp which was very easy. We originally booked the dorm but we were put in the twin which was the same price. Clean comfy beds with mozzie guards on the windows. The best bit about this is that it is literally right outside the park entrance. The food is tasty and cheap. Breakfast was an egg chicken sausage cold beans and toast. They have a problem with the water pressure in the (cold) showers but it isn't too bad and you can wash in the river next to the lodge. It is very difficult to get fruit in Mulu so I would recommend picking up some before you fly in!

Very affordable price and very near to the mulu HQ, just a 100m walk.
Paid RM35 per night for the dormitory bed. They also have room for private or couple/ family.
Got 4 washrooms and plenty of space to dry your clothes.
They provide transport to airport for Rm5 each person.
Free breakfast, Western style. Although you can find foods in other cafes with roughly the same price.
You can buy/refill water. Better to refill, because it's much cheaper.
The workers there were friendly and ready to assist each time.
They have curfew. 9:30 pm lights out in the dorm, 11pm cafe closed. By 12pm, all lights out.
Also, don't forget to bring ur power bank because when people's were out, they cut out the power.
Since it's dormitory style, u also have to accept that u're sharing sleeping area, so it can be quite uncomfortable with the snoring, morning person..
Still, u can meet up with all kind of people, mostly travelers, locally or foreigners looking for adventure in mulu.

It took quite awhile to find lodging close to Gunung Mulu National Park, i did quite abit of research and finally found mulu river lodge. You can contact them via email or a phone call, but don't expect an immediate response.

When we got there we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of our rooms and the bathrooms. We booked the 4 bedder and the 2 bedder room at 35MYR per pax/night. Mulu River Lodge is literally 50metres from the entrance of the national park, the owners and staff here are very kind and accommodating and breakfast is included every morning!

The only issue i had was that the electricity goes off from 12am - 5pm so it can get warm in the rooms at night, but besides that, I would recommend this place for budget and fuss free individuals!

The dorm is clean, no bugs inside, except sometimes in the bathroom where the windows are left open. Just a few steps from the park entrance. Staff are friendly. Water refills for RM3. They often play Christian country music in the evenings which was funny, yet nice. The fried noodles and fish was delicious. The breakfast isn't bad: toast with fried egg and a hot dog. Owner drive me to the airport for RM5. Only thing I didn't like, which they had no control over, was the occasional evening swarms of giant cicadas in the dining area.

The dorm is one large room with about 26 beds in it. There's plenty of space but no lockers for valuables so take a lock for your bag. It's not the most beautiful place but it's perfectly functional. Less than 2 minute walk to park hq. electricity is only on from 5.30pm- 11.30pm but this isn't a problem as you'll be out all day anyway.

clean dorm, and beds. the toilets are alright, but the shower is a little weak! decent breakfast - 2 slices of toast, egg, baked beans, sausage & free flow of coffee / tea.

2 minutes walk away from park HQ, 10 min walk from airport. (don't bother paying RM 5 to get there!)

This is the cheapest accommodation on site and it’s right next to the park which is ideal. We were served a delicious free breakfast every morning (bread, egg, beans and sausage with a hot drink) and there is a nice lunch and dinner menu. Transport to and from the airport can be provided at a small extra cost. The rooms are very simple and can get very hot when there is no electricity to run the fan (which is most of the time). Showers are cold and bathrooms are extremely basic and poorly kept. It can also be very noisy at night and early mornings when the house is waking up- ear plugs and eye mask are a must.
