It is amazing to stay in a 5 Stars hotel surrounded by rainforest. Free hotel transport to and from Gunung Mulu National Park and Mulu airport. Room is very comfortable and we could request for more drinking water from the reception. Breakfast is very good. Dinner is better with lots of choice and delicious desserts. We joined the package of 3D2N with the caves tour. It's worth it. The caves are unique and mysterious. I hope I had the chance to come back again one day. This is the place where families have the chance to communicate because there is no Wifi or mobile data connections in the room. We only could get the internet connection at the reception hall and M Cafe. I have learned that food has to be brought in from Miri and elsewhere. The trash that we left in the room are also packed to be shipped to a faraway place to discard. It's important that we don't waste food and think before we throw anything into the bin. Water pressure to shower is good but hot water will only be warm at 9.00pm (perhaps everyone bath at that time).

It was a true resort experience in middle of a jungle with beautiful river flowing which would leave you in awe of it.
River Cafe is a perfect place to get lost in exceptional beauty of Mulu while sipping your favorite drink from the bar
It is commendable how they managed to come up with such a luxurious resort in such a remote area where there is almost no connectivity via road (no ATM or fuel station). Area is surrounded by hills and dense jungles almost 60 billion years old and can be reached only via flight.
The staff is quite friendly and polite. Due to last minute plan we managed to get only 2 nights of accommodation but they went extra mile to arrange for an extra day.
As there is only one resort or family friendly stay in that area, it is always in demand. Hence make your bookings well in advance specially in peak season. They also arrange for tours and excursions for trails and caves but charge on a higher side. They offer complementary shuttle service to and from Mulu National Park and airport transfer.
Mostly guests opt for package deals for stay with breakfast and dinner. M-Cafe is a big open air cafe with seating inside as well as pool side that offers scrumptious breakfast and dinner buffet with western and local cuisine. Veg/Vegan options are very limited but chef was friendly enough to take me through all available options. You can also go for ala-carte for smaller appetite.
Rooms are quite comfortable as would be expected from Marriott with gym and pool.
Overall a big thumbs-up for this place.

I enjoyed an invigorating solo stay at the Mulu Marriott. The delightful and most helpful Olivia checked me in with a status based upgrade to a suite. The suite was very comfortable with a view through the trees to the very nearby river. The suite was tastefully decorated and had a very comfortable bed with luxurious bed linens. I loved having an early morning coffee on the balcony while listening to the natural sounds of the jungle. On the subject of coffee, the pod machine coffee in the room was the best on offer at the resort. The coffee on offer in the restaurant was dismal, so I took a pod coffee from the room to breakfast each morning. Overall I found the food at the resort to be below par and did not match the 5 star hard product and excellent service of the resort. The chefs working in the open kitchen made no attempt to interact with guests. They were often cutting up large cuts of meat with cleavers. It needs to be done but perhaps better to do it out of sight. I had a slight issue with lighting in the room which was skillfully dealt with by Wilson. Great service. Charles, the room attendant, was considerate and professional in keeping me comfortable in the suite. Victoria, at the River Bar, was affable and made great cocktails and pointed out some of the local wildlife roosting on the ceiling. Mr Piman and the other driver (excuse me, forgot the name) were hard working and always ready to share knowledge about the local area. I really enjoyed my stay at the Mulu Marriott and would love to return.

As part of a trip to Borneo we stayed at the Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa and we were treated very well. Collected from the airport and transferred to resort. Checkin was a little chaotic as everyone arrives together from the flight. Anyway done soon enough and received a lovely upgraded room and a welcome gift. The room we were given is in the stilted house style so does move a little but it is all the more authentic for it. The hopper shuttle takes you too and from the park and you can organise a wide variety of tours direct with the park (for a cheaper price). The staff were always happy and accommodating. Breakfast had a good variety but things did need constant filling up. Pool was relaxing but no lifeguard and have to work out where towels are. There is a small shop and a spa. The bar was open air and one night there was a toad! I would strongly recommend Mulu and this hotel.

A perfect base for visiting the national park. Bearing in mind it’s location, it offers an excellent service, as you would expect from Marriott.

It is in a very good location, close enough to the entrance of Mulu national park. A free shuttle bus runs to the airport and park HQ.

The hotel has a central area containing the reception, bar and restaurant. A lot of this area is open to elements and you will become a-custom to the local wild life you’ve come to see. As you sit in the bar in evening, the local bats will be flying around keeping the mosquitoes down. I am usually on the menu but I didn’t pick up too many bites while staying here.

The rooms are laid out on raised walkways from the central area. Our room was nice, well appointed and clean. The AC was good and very welcome, it is necessity because of the high temperatures and humidity. As I mentioned previously, there is a lot of wild life here. In the evening, the walkways are dimly lit, so they are not too intrusive in the environment. However, this doesn’t stop them from becoming a bug highway. Don’t let this deter you, it’s why we come here. The lights do attract the massive cicadas that live here and you have to ‘run the gauntlet’ each evening; it’s all part of the attraction of this place :-)

The variety of food was fine considering the isolated location and we enjoyed our meals. Breakfast is a big buffet and there should be something to suit everyone. There is Wi-Fi, if needed but it is only available in the hotel lobby and at the bar. There is also a nice pool area too.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Also checkout Stella Cafe, located across the hotel bridge on the opposite bank.

We were once again at the Marriott Mulu Resort and, as always, were warmly welcomed by Ms JJ at the hotel. The journey from the airport to the hotel in the open hotel bus is an experience in itself.
After a cold drink and refreshing cold towels, the bellboy took us to our room. The room was very clean and everything worked. Shower gel, conditioner and shampoo dispensers have now been installed in the bathroom, which is very environmentally friendly.
The occupancy of the hotel was very high but the service was still top notch. Mathew looked after us excellently in the restaurant and the evening buffet was very varied and nothing was missing at breakfast either. From the a la carte menu I can recommend Beef Rendang and Fish & Chips.
The tours in the national park were organized by Lawrence and he is an employee that the hotel can be very proud of, friendly, helpful and professional.

For tourists visiting Sarawak, Mulu National Park is an absolute “must do” and the Marriott Resort is the perfect place to relax and enjoy.

One of our worst 5 star hotel experiences ever. Driver doesn't help with loading and unloading luggage. Greeting without cold towels or drinks. Nobody helps with transporting luggage to the bungalows far away. Employees hang around, don't help, don't say hello and occupy the lounge furniture all day to watch blaring videos. In theory there are drinks and snacks at the pool, but in practice the dirty dishes and real glasses are left lying around for hours, nobody clears them away, nobody asks if you want anything. Towels are also rarely provided, you usually have to point out to someone that there are none and then wait 30 minutes. The food, breakfast and evening buffet are OK at best, but they don't refill them, repeat themselves almost every day and just don't taste good. Broken dishes and greasy tables don't give a 5 star feeling. The staff are there, but clearly show that they don't really want to do their job. Coffee specialties in the morning, included in the price, are only available on persistent request. The hotel's nature guides are OK at best. You shouldn't expect enthusiasm, empathy or special knowledge. The shower in our bungalow was broken, we reported it straight away, but we were consoled until we left with the information that we did have a bathtub. At least the rooms are very spacious and clean, so they give us 2 points.

Luxurious base for exploring the fantastic Mulu National Park.
We had a King size room/suite with a separate sitting room. A lovely space with its own private balcony - much bigger and more luxurious than we’d expected! The resort is not large, so it never felt crowded. Nice pool area and comfortable, stylish bar. Also a decent gym with good selection of machines and a very nice spa offering a range of treatments. Constant work ongoing to maintain the facility it the middle of the jungle - the work going on never lasted too long and didn’t spoil the experience.
Restaurant was pleasant, offering a good selection of local and international dishes. Not everything on the menu was available, but given the remoteness of the location this shouldn’t be a big surprise. Buffet breakfast was also very nice. Well worthwhile popping over the bridge to the local cafe restaurant, Stella’s. Very basic, but super fresh local delicacies. Give the rice wine a bash!
Only a short 5-10 min shuttle bus run to the main park entrance. Buses are frequent, we never waited too long, but it is a bit of a chaotic scramble in the evening after the popular Deer cave trip returns.
They could do a little to limit single use plastics, so a point off for that.

Stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed out time here at Marriott and Mulu. All the rooms are built on stilt around the forest, our room with a balcony facing the forest that makes you aware you are among the nature. Spacious room with all amenities even has a espresso capsule machine but surprisingly no safety box , which is very useful to store your valuables when you are out for activities here.
The resort provide complimentary shuttle service to the airport and Mulu National Park and the service is impeccable, we were never make to wait for the shuttle.
The breakfast is OK but lack of varieties of Marrioitt standard, but taking into consideration in this isolated area where everything have to be air flown. Did not try out other meals here as prefer to eat outside the resort in support of the local communities and businesses of this isolated wonder.
Lots of activities and tours provided by the national park and Mulu not just about " The Pinnacle" , you can simply spend a few days exploring the park with tours or self guided trekking.
If I am back again , will still stay At Marriott but do my part to support the local businesses . Mulu +Marriott.

No there isn’t, there is limited wi-fi in public areas, it’s right in the middle of the jungle and not being connected adds to the experience. It’s amazing.

Not sure but whatever room we had was great and was through the travel agent and being cynical would be an ordinary room instead of premium! So normal room would be enough, in my opinion!
