Excellent Service provided by the manager Jamat Jelia and her team. I received a email prior to my arrival asking for my preference in the room set up and flight arrival time as complimentary shuttle is provided by an interesting lorry truck! I met Jelia at the reception helping with check in & she had upgraded my deluxe room to a premier room. A warm and cheerful lady, even calling me several times to my room to confirm my last min booking to Canopy Walk by National Park guide while I was out in the evening for the amazing bat exodus. I booked the hotel 3D2N Unplugged package & our hotel guide Iswandy is so patient & gentle, answering the 9yo girl in our small group all her questions & all her ‘Whys?’ non stop from start to end of the cave tour! The package is inclusive of breakfast & dinner buffets, a packed sandwich on the 1st day and a picnic lunch of fried rice & fruits on 2nd day of show cave tours. Bottles of drinking water are generously provided in the room & on the tours. Premier Room : very clean with Marriott amenities & daily housekeeping replenish many bottles of drinking water for guests’ hydration in the forest. Meals : good buffet spreads and nicely packed snack/picnic on tours Free Shuttle 10 min to National Park: departs any time guests request. I was the only solo guest and the kind driver told me to ask the guard at the park entrance to call Marriot for pick up back to hotel. I had an Amazing Adventure in the comfort & services of Mulu Marriot.

This hotel is beautiful and it is set in beautiful surroundings. The room was large and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was big and the shower powerful. The public areas were great. The food was delicious. The chef, Kirsten was so knowledgeable and helpful when assisting me with my gluten free choices. Everything was spotless and all the staff were helpful.

As you arrive you immediately feel you are in a special place in the heart of the jungle. Helps disconnecting from busy city liege. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food is good not great still acceptable. No umbrellas in the rooms which are needed.

Wow, wow, wow! A wonderfully warm and enthusiastic welcome from JJ on arrival at the Marriott began such a wonderful stay. JJ was also amazingly helpful in organizing tours within the National park. (Special thanks to Marc who shared our anniversary with his team.) Our room was available on arrival and stunning! Super comfortable and luxurious bed, large bathroom with separate toilet and shower plus lounge room (room 100). Large fluffy towels, iron, hairdryer, water, tea/coffee machine (including coffee capsules). The location of the room was right on the river and in close proximity (though no noise) to the restaurant and bar - perfect. Wifi is only available in the bar area. MCafe at the Marriott serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a special anniversary dinner where the staff were simply amazing and we were treated! We loved sitting outside by the pool for dinner - a slight breeze, undercover and with a local bat or two circling- heavenly! On site at the Marriott is a large gym and Mandara spa - the perfect treat after a day trekking. Or you can just relax and swim in the Balinese style swimming pool (which my husband did). The Marriott shuttle bus (free) meets all flights and is also available to take you to the Gunung Mulu National when required (also free). There is also a small general store a 5-15minutes walk down the road which is reasonably priced. I’d highly recommend doing the Deer Cave and Lang Cave tour. I also did the Mulu Canopy Skywalk which I found hair-raising (like being on a rollercoaster you want to get off but the only way to get off is to finish). Tip: All Mulu National Park fees can be paid by credit card. 30MYR for a 5 day park pass PLUS any tours you do.

A place that I love a lot and that made me returned for the second time in 3 months . Amazing staff service led by Front Office Manager JJ and her team. A special thanks to Fiona , Anna, Olivia, Lousiana for their ever positive service attitude. Bar counter staff Rebecca was most efficient and friendly . Restaurant supervisor Daliglish was always prepared to serve. He is real efficient and professional in his job and had helped to make your hotel flag flying high . I will be back for sure in due course

Unbelievable hotel right next to the National Park, so close you can walk there. Very cool atmosphere with most of the hotel in semi outdoor areas. Rooms were absolutely wonderful, we had a suite with a massive outdoor patio that was nice to relax in and enjoy the forest. I would recommend the upgrade. Food was just ok if you are getting western style; far superior and delicious are the local dishes so go for those. We also booked tours of the park through the hotel; it is more expensive but nice to be in a small group and leave right from the hotel. You can also easily walk to the park but there is a free shuttle. One of the more unique Marriotts we have stayed in and we would go back; great execution of a hotel in the middle of nowhere! Staff was also friendly and helpful.

Excellent base for Mulu National Park visiting or just to relax away from it all. Mulu Marriott might be a little more on the high end for accommodation but SO worth it!! Relaxing places to hang out (pool is now filled and fresh/cool water), amazing/friendly staff (Daglesh, Jackie, Cha-Cha, Deborah and Zu - always smiling and friendly), clean/spacious rooms with sitting area and balcony. Even if you don’t visit the caves every day, this is a great place to chill, watch the river run by, and listen to birds/cicadas in the jungle around you. Thank you Mulu Marriott for our memorable stay :)

We enjoyed four nights at Marriott Mulu, a great hotel in the middle of nowhere! The food in the restaurant is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and beautiful. The hotel is located about 5-10 min drive from the National park entrance and the hotel provide drop off and pickup whenever needed, very smooth! We had lost all our luggage on the Scoot flight from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu. The staff at the hotel was very helpful to get that situation sorted out despite the airline company being a pain not wanting to forward it to us since they did not have any own flights to Mulu. Without the Marriott staff help we would have had no luggage whatsoever and no clothes to hike in, thanks again to the front desk!!

The rooms are located in two storeys wooden building, try to avoid bringing huge trolley luggage because you need to drag quite a distance to reach the room on wooden walkway. In addition, you might need to carry it up via wooden staircases to reach the room. Wi-Fi only available at common areas such as reception lobby and restaurants. There is no Wi-Fi inside the room. Limited mobile data coverage as well. Swimming pool inside the resort is under maintenance.

Mulu National Park is outstanding and you won’t regret visiting here. I would stay somewhere else though as this Marriott is very poor. The pool was closed for no apparent reason. They said that they would put on some games for the kids on New Year’s Eve which they never did. Getting water is a daily struggle which involves a lot of waiting and a lot of plastic. Our toilet was blocked so we had to move room. There was an extremely limited menu which consisted of frozen beef burgers - they had run out of just about everything but rice and eggs. The nightly buffet was okay but again very limited. The place is deathly quiet - it can’t have been more than about 20% occupancy which would describe the lack of food supplies. I spoke to the manager about this and he was evasive and smug. It sounds harsh but I wouldn’t put that guy in charge of a McDonald’s let alone this lovely hotel in a stunning location.
