The Island Sunset is a great place to stay in Cape Breton. It is close to many amazing beaches and is central to Inverness, Cheticamp and Margarer. It is the nicest place to stay in the area. The Seaside restaurant and Lobster Pound are great as is the Belle View restaurant.

Great place to stay along the Cabot Trail. Great views and everything we needed in a room. Kitchenette was well equipped. Nice big bathroom and the location was excellent. It was a welcome change from some of the other logdging we had encountered along the trail.

We stayed at the Island Sunset Resort for two nights whilst on Cape Breton Island. We had two of the Sunset Royal Suites in the closest block to the ocean and the one behind. The ocean views from the first were uninterrupted but the second suite overlooked the gravel parking area and the other block as much as the ocean....

We stayed there for 2 nights. Unobstructed views of the ocean and beautiful sunsets. The kitchenette was well equipped and a bonus. The rooms were spacious. There was an A/C unit in the living room but not the bedroom so it got very warm at night. As other reviewers noted, the name is misleading as there were none of the...

We booked a last minute golf trip to Cabot Links which was fully occupied so they suggested Island Sunset (and Glenora Distillery which is a 10min drive Cabot Links but was also fully booked). Island Sunset is about a 30-35min drive to Cabot Links. This was a great spot set away from the main street. My rating may be a...

We stayed for 3 nights in this very comfortable, but not luxurious, "resort". I put resort in quotes as there weren't the amenities and services usually associated with a resort- for ex: pool, golf, boating, tennis, etc...As other reviewers noted, we had a fireplace, kitchenette, jacuzzi tub and shower, etc, along with a small porch with a view of the bay...

I didn't believe my eyes when I saw the view next to our room (a small one-story cottage). It was facing west, so be sure to check in before sunset. You don't want to miss that. Breakfast is 8$ upon request (by 5pm). We had breakfast in Duck Cove Inn (5 min drive) and it was very very good! Be...

We booked the "Signature Ocean Suite" at this resort, which is described on the web site as having "beautiful ocean views and a partial view of the Misty Mountains." When we arrived, we were very disappointed with the view, which was not as described. In reality, the deck looked upon the gravel driveway to the compound, and there was an...

Early dinner in nice setting. Dana, our server was attentive. A good selection of dishes to select from. Had haddock with lobster topping. Excellent. Salad very fresh and yummy bread, asked for extra. Portion were nice size. Had spinach salad. Was enough to share. Looked like many locals gather as groups.
