this hotel was very clean, especially the bed sheets. they smelled so great, just liek roses if i may say. either than that, great location, lots of shops nearby and eating outlets. the double room was spacious and well organised. thanks for the tea. :-)

You get what you pay

It was getting late and we needed to book some rooms. Somewhere. Anywhere. Someone mentioned Rose Crest, so we ventured there and spoke to the receptionist. The lady was very polite and friendly, agreed to show us the room first before we booked. We took the small lift to the first floor and viewed a double room. Well, double room in name. It was very small. The double room was really 2 single beds pushed together with a double bed sheet over the top. The space between the wall where the bed was against and the opposite side was about 30cm at most. There were no windows either. A small desk was on the other side of the room and next to that was the wardrobe. Another small table held the coffee sachets and glasses. The bathroom was simple; a sink, a toilet and an open plan shower that seems to be the norm for locals. We checked in! Well, it looked clean and we were hungry. The hotel is right in the middle of the main high street, so for convenience, it's ideal. The prices are great, but that comes at a price, or rather, you get what you pay for. After checking in and going to my room, I opened the wardrobe to put some clothes to hang. Wow! What a smell, so I removed a hanger, closed it and hung mu clothes on the door handle. The bed was relatively comfortable, but the pillows were cheap foam and I couldn't get the right height. 1 pillow was too low and 2 meant it was too high! Oh well. The price you pay! I switched on the TV (you're given the remote control on check in), but there were no English channels, so I switched it off again. Even if there were, honestly, the TV is so far away, you need some binoculars to watch! The wifi is okay, slow, but that's Cameron Highlands. There was not much else to do other than sleep. Or try to. The paper thin walls mean you can hear everything the next door neighbours are doing. Mine liked playing with the tap in the bathroom at 2am! We were told that we had to switch on the water heater 20 minutes before using it which was okay. A bit of a pain, but it was fine. I brushed my teeth and found out the drain in the sink was clogged, so it took ages to go down. Oh, bring your own toiletries. They don't have shampoo or shower gel, but you do get a few small bars of soap. Well, I made sure I had finished using the bathroom before showering and spraying the entire room with water. The shower was powerful. More than I expected, so the bathroom got a really good wash too! The towels have seen better days. Fluffier days. Oh, the air conditioner doesn't have any controls, so it is set by the hotel and the switch is by the door. It's either on or off. Well, what can you expect. It's cheap and cheerful. the lady at reception is always pleasant. The hundred Ringgit question; Would I stay here again? Only in an emergency!…
