We stayed in the twin room, en-suite, at Twin Pines in August 2005. The room had a very damp, musty smell and made our clothes smell too. The shower was hot, but dripped constantly. This meant we got soaking every time we went into the bathroom as there was standing water on the ground. Also, when you went to the toilet you got dripped on since the shower was in such close proximity. The windows were of the slat-variety, which opened with a lever and there was a mosquito net on the outside. Linen is provided, but be warned- the blankets may never have been washed!!! The walls of the room were very thin, so you could hear conversations in the next room without even trying to listen! There is a TV room with cable, but the TV makes everything green! Also, it gets invaded by mosquitoes in the evening. The little cafe serves food at reasonable prices, we had breakfast there and it was fine. The staff pick you up in minibus from the express bus station in Tanah Rata, which is handy. Twin Pines is in a good location, close to the town. There is also a little garden where you can sit. Overall, it was a clean and basic place. It was cheap, so if you can stand the mustiness you may survive. The en-suite twin room cost us RM 40 for the night.

The place is quite central, cheap and clean enough for our needs. The bed was one of the worst we've had, even for 40RM/night. The hot shower was really nice though, quite hot and a good stream of water.

What I found annoying was that there are signs about services such as laundry, lunch, dinner etc, but when you ask about these services the response is: "not available!". Then take down the signs... Oh, and then 5 minutes later the crew started cooking for themselves! Luckily some good restaurants are nearby.

We wanted to go to the nearby Bharat tea plantation, 4km down the road. Asking for how to arrange a taxi, we got the advice to walk, with the path being "easy and well-marked, about one hour". The fact that it wasn't on the map, and the man at the reception desk had never walked the path himself should have warned us. The path was neither well-marked nor easy and took us about three hours. We were fine but these kinds of advices can lead to dangerous situations! Not funny.

Two stars for the price and the hot shower.

Twin pines has a really pleasant surrounding with lots of plants in the garden in front. However, the rooms had a lot of moisture and it also smelled a bit mouldy. So we didn't really feel at home here and moved to another place after one night.

We went to twin Pines and asked to check the beds before making a booking and checking in. At the head end it was crawling with bedbugs. The receptionist were very friendly and seemed mostly tierd and didn't seem surprised when we told him about the bedbugs. We decided to go somewhere else to sleep.

So basically keast thought he was rippn enough to put us in this palace for a night, the showers are like nice and warm and they aren't combo'd with the toilet so a dump doesn't involve wet cheeks, HHMMMMMMMMM. The rooms have plenty of headroom and ventilation *Windows are optional. The scran is beautiful, so beautiful that it takes two hours but for that you get chips and chicken burger at which point though you must bounce to marry broons for a MYR12.90 meal deal. Doors on the rooms are a formidable force, if you lock yourself out simply squeeze the door frame out then your in. After one night though you must do the boost to gerard's for yer stay and but still go back for your breakfast scran or one of the many local scran houses specialising in banana leaf meals. 3 pound a night nae messin #goodjobkeast #marrybroons #rightfudsgettobed #HH #twograndmate

The room was very... Not nice. The bathrooms looked like a disaster, and the toilets were in fact, but the showers were ok. I would stay there again, it was pretty cheap, but not worth the money at all. It was close to the bus stops, which was good. It was only wifi in the lobby area, not in the rooms.

We arrived last Saturday in Cameron Highlands and we had bad luck...
It was a public holiday and it seemed that ALL THE LOCAL MALAY people were at tanah rata Cameron Highlands!
ALL HOTELS were full!

Then we arrived at twin pines and he had one room left for 30RM per night
It was just a mattress on the floor but we were happy we finally found a place to sleep!!!

Breakfast is nice and cheap and the staff is friendly but they don't talk a lot ;-)

I stayed here for 3 nights and only showered once as the bathrooms were filthy. Hair clogging the drain, dead bugs, and no-where to hang your things where they wouldn't get wet from the shower spray. The showers were directly over the toilets so toilet seats always wet, and no toilet paper provided. I know it's super cheap, but some small level of cleanliness is required. Also very limited places to charge your items. I was told when booking that devices could be charged in the garden area, however there were only 4 outlets and 2 were always being used by the staff.

I stayed there for 1 night. Typical low budget accommodation. I read that some people paid $5 so for this price it is OK, you get what you paid for, we paid about $18 for a room (too much for these conditions). Room is totally simple, just a bed, but what else do you need ;). Bathrooms and showers were a challenge, I think the worst I've ever seen in Asia. I am glad that the water was warm because evenings and mornings are cool and can't imagine not to have warm water. Place is run by very polite and helpful family. You can buy tasty breakfast as well. Garden was lovely, full of flowers. Good location, very close to the main street in Tanah Rata, 10 minutes to bus station. I should add that my description applies to the small building, not the big one in the picture above. I think it is a new part of this guest house.
