It was a great time in this hostel! The staff (especially the owner Frank) is very friendly and helpful! You get free coffee and tea- which is very nice after a long treck. The breakfast unclouded Toast, butter and jam(for me it was more than enough). Enjoy your time there!

We have been traveling in Asia for a long time and have simple claims. But this hotel is a no go. We had 2 double rooms. Bed sheets dirty, apparently not changed after the last guest (sperm, old blood, bed bug poo). Towels smell very musty, no mattress protectors. We found bed bugs and black marks on the mattress Even the "fresh" sheets from the closet have black spots. Be careful!!! We got the money back. The staff recommended us to look for a room in another hotel.

Never stayed in this property but visited for a cooking session with other in house guests. It was a wonderful experience cooking the food we already knew how to cook but in an place away from home. Everyone enjoyed the food as much as we did and for a 15 RM price it was surely worth the effort, time and food. Would recommend this experience to all.

The main positives were the location, private balcony and the good wifi connectivity. There is no lift in this place, and we had to climb 4 flights of stairs. They ask you to keep your shoes in one place on each floor. The breakfast is just bread toast with jam. The bed linen isn't all that clean. We found other hotels at this price while enquiring around, and would stay elsewhere on our next trip.

Unfortunately i had bad experience in this hotel. Not clean, difficult having breakfast, you have to wash cups of other guests, cold room with broken window, and bugs in the bed!! What to say more....

So on arriving at this hostel we we're greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our room. To cut a very long story short, the guy who showed us to our room turned out to be a volunteer who had been left in charge of the place, whilst the manager had gone on holiday for a week. He was however very friendly and helpful, but as you can imagine - didn't have a clue how to run a hostel. The dorms are laid out in a strange way, as if they have tried to cram too many beds into one room, and it is clear the beds are not changed and cleaned regularly. 2 girls we met we're told by other guests that their bed had definitely not been changed since the last guest. Gross. The bathroom was clean, but the shower did not get hot. Which was very frustrating as the highlands are considerably colder than the rest of Malaysia, so you do want a nice hot shower. Although there was no alcohol allowed in the hostel, it had more of an atmosphere like a house party than a hostel. There wasn't much structure to where each guest was, and the front door was non-existent, making it feel very unsafe. There is not a lot of choice for hostels in the Cameron Highlands however there is a basic level you should expect when staying in a hostel and this just did not meet that standard.

There was a good kitchen available so we made fried eggs in the mornings, alongside the toast which was provided. There is also a water filter which is good. The huge forest photographs on canvas around the place give the hostel an amazing atmosphere, as do the plants. We stayed in the private double which had a good bathroom attached with a good shower. The bed was quite comfortable with fun coloured bedding with a flower theme. However, the door onto the balcony was very stiff. We struggled to shut it but then just left it shut as we didn't need the balcony. The room backs onto an alley that stayed loud till late, mostly beeping, traffic and kitchen noises. We slept with earplugs. Check-in was a little disorganised due to the volunteers used at orchid haven and lots of guests arriving within minutes of each other, but if you are chill about it as I was then it doesn't matter.

The hostel is ran by volunteers which might affect the experience, but on my stay the volunteers were great and everything worked well. Atmosphere at the hostel was very nice, the room (8 bed dorm) was spacious and the roommates I had made the stay really amazing. I also booked a tour to the tea plantations from the hostel which was awesome and had Bangladesh/Indian cooking class at the hostel which was also a great experience. Good place to meet other travelers and explore the Cameron Highlands.

The gentleman who runs Orchid Haven is nice, but it seems like he is short-staffed. It took me over an hour to check in with the girl who was working there at the time, because she kept getting distracted and was jumping from person to person. There was confusion regarding reservations with multiple people who came to check in while I was there. The dorm room I stayed in was way too small. Bunk beds were crammed into very possible square inch and then there was a dresser in the middle of the room. Considering everyone also has luggage, navigating the room was nearly impossible. It also got rather chilly at night. The owner seemed to get annoyed with me when I let him know the toilet was not working properly. One positive is that the owner shared food with the visitors and the common area brought a lot of people together. I also booked a Cameron Highlands tour through them that ended up being fantastic.

I spend more than a week in this amazing hostel. It was very good time! Yassin (the owner) always try to make his guests to feel like home. Dorms in the hostel are very clean and comfortable! All guests have their own lockers, which is always good thing to have. Cameron Highlands itself is very beautiful part of Malaysia, very different from the capital and other big cities. It has a fantastic nature! Mossy Forest is one of the most beautiful things that I've ever seen in my life. So, I definitely recommend to visit Cameron Highlands and the Orchid Haven hostel. You won't regret it! :)
