Coming by carferry from Hirtshals, Denmark, to Stavanger we went up to Preikestolen (Pulpit rosk) and had a friday night in a tipi. As there was no public ferry service saturday we drove our car around the fjord up Vindalen, parked at the end of the road and walked in fine weather to Flørli and next day a long walk...

There is not much in Lysebotn and I was concerned that it would not be as good as it could be. I was pleasantly surprised the place exceeded my expectations with cleanliness, friendliness and decent food. The whole point of coming to Lysebotn is to enjoy nature and enjoy the epic hikes.

Do not expect much - at the end of Lysefjord you will have no alternative. We payed 970 kr per night + 150 for sheets (two people) - so you pay like for a nice hotel and you get a room that is not even properly cleaned... Positive sides - breakfast is very good!

I am very impressed with the value for the price. We stayed in a double with a private bathroom for two nights. It was incredibly clean and had a very comfortable bed with one of the strongest/hottest showers I have ever come across on vacation. After hiking kjerag, it was amazing. Overall, the room was perfect. We brought our own...

Our objective was to hike Kjerag first, then take ferry down to Forsand for visiting Preikestolen a.k.a the Pulpit Rock. We opted for this hostel as there were/are limited options in Lysebotn. There are several rooms of varying sizes adjoining the reception, however, we got a 8-bed room a bit farther. I guess this was due to overbooking or similar...

The place is so tiny, we were grateful there was some dinner to be found. The DNT hytte had everything needed and you could even make a lunch pack for the breakfast buffet for the Kjerag hike. There are not so many options, unless you bring your tent or van - so best reserve if you know when you're coming...

We stayed here as a base to climb Kjareg and we were very impressed. The dorms had plenty of space and were clean and comfortable. The common areas were first class. Friendly staff helped book transport for us,

Everybody who stays here is either a base jumper or a hiker. So its a very cool town, after catching the ferry before hand. Book both in advance because there are limited spaces to stay in lysebotn. Have a beer in the pub and enjoy the climb

Usually fully booked in July. We were in late August so took a two bunk beds in the dorm being told, wrongly, that there could be no others. Price was about 22 sterling including a 50K compulsory extra for sheets. They also run a taxi service to the start of the Kjeragbolten walk which costs 30 sterling. Oddly there was...
