When the taxi dropped us off we soon realised its in the middle of nowhere! Luckily we always hire a scooter so this wasn't too much of an issue, but if we didn't I'd have no idea how you'd get to the beach it nearest shop.
The 'resort' consisted of bungalow type accomodation and concrete blocks 7 storeys high. This is where we were! We discretley said we were on our honeymoon, so were given quite a nice room! We were on the end of the block si we actually had a really nice view!
The room hadnt been cleaned particulary well, the bathroom and kitchenette we a grubby.
Breakfast wea pretty poor and we only went the once even though it was included!
The wifi only worked in the main reception.
This place could have potential but it's in dire need of refurbishment! The place is old and very tired looking! The bungalows sleep 6 and have their own pool, however our view looked over one of these and I did not like them. The pool was tiny and although it sleeps 6 only had 2 sun lounged. They were extremely run down!
The entire place could do with closing down for 6 months whilst they refurbish!!! I wouldn't stay here again!! No way near worth the money!
Anyway we arrived to hotel and waited around two and half hours to get in our room.
Room was ok. Worn down, old, clean on first sight. I liked settings in the room even though everything was minimal. But really really minimal-small tv, small sofa.
After all traveling and all the stuff with traveling to krabi I was so tired and jumped on the bed. Big mistake. Matress was so hard that I had air blown out of my lungs from jump.
Anyway took the shower with lukewarm (as it was the warmest it could get) water in a stinky stale bathroom and got in the bed.
In the morning had a breakfast. Very very basic. But ok if you just want to survive and push through in couple of hours to come.
After bfast went for a tour and it was really good. Then came back for a massage which was really really good but it's always full and it's hard to get it.
Anyway after that I tried to have a dinner, but they didn't have any of main meals so I had to have appetizer again. And 6 more beers.
Btw pools are very dirty especially the one beside condos. and gym- well I'm fitness trainer and saw good and bad gyms- but never saw gym in lobby of condo building. And beside that, the main machine doesn't even work.
Overall, I have just seen that this hotel has 4 stars, and I really can't find a reason for such a high rate. It doesn't worth money my mother in law paid for it, even though staff is very friendly.
And beside of all of this, be aware of their advertisement as the picture on advertisement is not resort that you're booking, but this very sad resort.
By the way, I travelled all around world, I even slept on docks, I'm not spoiled, but I don't like wasting my time and money on things that are not worth it. And this hotel is exactly that.
Za zemljake iz srbije ni ne pomišljajte na ovaj očajan hotel. Smrdi star je i nema najosnovnije.
When we arrived in the taxi we quickly realised this was not the " exclusive and distinctive hotel nestled in the lush green hills" the website had promised! It was more like a white block of flats surrounded by dead plants and a dirt path!!
We were given our room number and we went up to it and at first glance it seemed quite nice, then you REALLY see what the room is like - it was dirty - not cleaned properly at all - spiders and cobwebs on the celing and black little bugs over the walls!
The most annoying thing though was that none of the items listed on the website that should be in the room were in the room! I mean none of it! Its very important to us to have an in room safe, which there wasn't. It was basically a room with the standard basic furniture - bed etc - but nothing else!
We went straight down to reception to complain - and lets just say it was the worst customer service I have ever experienced! Like another person said we showed them the leaflet with all the items on and they just stared at it - we asked where all the stuff was and he said tick what you are missing - we said EVERYTHING!! So he said he would try and get the stuff for us - we said the room was also dirty and the hotel was NOTHING like the website made it out to be. We said it was xmas and my birthday and we wanted it to be special but they didnt care in the slightest! It was enfruiatingly rude!
The one women behind reception even said "If you pay an extra 20,000 baht (£400) a night you can stay in the pool villa and they have all the things mentioned on the website!" We couldn't believe it and said the standard rooms should have all those things according the the website so why should we have to pay! Crazy service!
After seeing the rooms we had already decided we didnt want to stay there but after the awful service we were desperate to just leave! We told them we would not be staying and they insisted on charging us for the first night out of inconvience to them - we said we were the once inconvienaced - it was supposed to be a special time the night before xmas eve and this is what we were doing! We argued for sometime over this and in the end there seemed no way out but to pay the first night! We spoke to a 'manager' as well who was just as rude and there seemed to be about 4 of them who were managers/receptionists anyway!
We had got the hotel for quite a cheap price, we thought this was because it was a bit out the way and because it was a new hotel estabishing itself! But no, it was cheap because it was awful and more like a backpackers hotel! So please don't be fooled!
We then managed to find another hotel to stay in, which was more expensive but 1000 times better. After getting a taxi to this other hotel which was right on the Ao nang strip (and quite a drive from this one) but a bit up a cliff we were so pleased we had moved hotels as we were able to walk to all the bars and restarants and the beach.
It showed us that this hotel was REALLY out the way of where you want to be, not just a bit!
Avoid at all costs!!
we will never stay here again far to dirty for me and service was very poor. I dont reccomend staying at this place. we are very unhappy customers and non returning customers.
Do not consider staying here unless you are willing to hire a motorcycle or car .
When we arrived to the hotel everything was fine despite all the fuss behind the reception counter. It seemed like everyone was serving the same customer. We were taken to our room and at the first glance our standard room was exactly like on their web pages. We were like wow! BUT, in a spaciois and light room like that all the dirst jumps up. And as it turned out our room was not cleaned well. There was hair all over the floor, stains on the sheets, dirty stains on mirrors and the shower seemed like it had never been washed.
After that I took a look at the pamflet I had taken with me from the reception. It had a list of different items EVERY room has: separate shower and bath, tea and coffee supplies, hair dryer etc...My boyfriend also rememberd it says micro wave and dvd player on their web pages. And we noticed that we were missing most of them. Not that I need a separate bath and shower but there's nothing more irritating than not delivering to what you promise, especially in a "4 star hotel". We went down to the reception and I asked the guy first what the list was. He read it for a long time as he had never seen it before and then just asked me to tick the items we didn't have. For me it felt like this happens to them all the time. We finally got our items (not the separate bath and shower though, hehe). If I was the guy bringing the dvd player I would've installed it as well and not just throw it there.
The room had a small kitchen but there were no glasses, plates or anything. There were dirty closets and drawers though. The fridge was spacious with some mini bar items. There was not a clear list of prices but the prices were listed on the room service menu. Since the mini bar items were quite cheap we ended up using almost all of them. However, they never refilled it during cleaning. When I asked about this the rude girls on the counter didn't know what I meant and asked me to get them myself from their back room and pay it there. The coffee and tea possibility ment two cups with instant stuff and a kettle. It was alrigt but they were never filled during cleaning. I had to go ask for refills myself.
The room service menu is cheap but it turned out it's frozen food from 7eleven and that's where the missing microwave comes handy. I tried to ask about it since it wasn't clear at first but the rude girl didn't understad my point. Just told me to list what I want and "then we go to 7 eleven". Quite a room service in a 4 star hotel, frozen food. And yeah, we didn't have a microwave. We saw those a lot on the halls so I suppose they move them around when ever some one needs it. Hahaha. It was beginning to be rather hilarious.
It said on the pamflet the rooms have an indoor safety box. No they didn't. We left our safetybox stuff to the reception. How it worked was that they just but a post-in on the items and write down our room number. And it was not a safety box were they put our stuff, just a reagular closet. When we checked out they first offered us someone elses stuff. Safe? I don't think so.
There were two days when we were missing towels for the whole day. The other time my boyfrind went down to reception to ask for towels. He was told there were no towels in the hotel and he must go to the pool area (100 meters away) to get them. As it was his job to get clean towels for us. It was common the aisles and stairways had huge stacks of towels and sheets. Once I had to climb over this huge stack to get to the reception. It was mostly embarrasing to the "4 star hotel" to show off with dirty sheets and towels. Customers should not see the backstage, especially in front of their eyes. Besides they can be dangerous in a stairway.
The hotel is quite far from the Ao Nang center, about 4,5 kilometers. It claims to be 700 meters away from the beach but even the closest beach Nopparathara is MUCH further away. The hotel arranges transfers every hour. We used this opportunity twice or three times. Not once was it on time and two times we had to wait for it for at least 30 minutes. "10 more minutes" they kept saying. And yes, they charge you 50 baht per person which is once again not good service. And it's like they're begging for money. We were told by one local that there are several resorts on the other side of Ao Nanlg that have a free transfer. We walked a couple a times since there are no tuk tuks on that area unless they are dropping of people and you're on the right place at the right time.
We didn't have breakfast included but decided to try it out one morning with the cost of 250 per person. We went there like 30 minutes BEFORE it was supposed to end. What we got was empty trays and baskets and cold left overs. For pretty much everything they said "no have".
The pool area was alright but too small for such a resort. The area has two big buindlings with hotel rooms I suppose and then these villas outside. The area itself is alright.
What was most frusturating was that when ever trying to talk about these issues with them they didn't understand. Their english was so poor. It was indeed frusturating when you didn't get your point through. The girl was really rude and never smiled. Her first answer to everything was NO. It felt like they just didn't know how to run a freaking hotel. I bought an ice cream from the lobby and they needed two people for it. One who comes from the office and unlocks the freezer, checks from the paper what ice cream it is and makes some notes and tells the price to the reception worker who charges it. I think you could do it easier. It felt like there was an ongoing chaos behind the desk.
NOT ONCE did anyone say "we're sorry" or "we apologize"... NOT ONCE with all this inconvinience. During our trip in several other places we might have stayed in a less fancier room but we got the service, the basic service that you get in any hotel.. the service these guys could not deliver.
A human mind works funny. Once you see something gone wrong you might start to look for another and get irritated even from the smallest thing. However, with this hotel you didn't really have to look for the flaws since they were right there, in rooms, in stairways, on breakfast and behind the reception counter in their sercive. Besides, it's "4 star hotel".
