Quiet place away from traffic noise. Very polite staff. Breakfast was good but after 7 days ... :-) Pool area was good but it lacked sun beds. Double bedroom with good space and a rather big balcony. Really good. Very clean.

On the downside, our toilet did not work properly. Big problems with flushing and it got annoying at times. Especially after “number 2”. The staff should improve english as there were many english speaking guests. A good walk from the beach though it did not bother us that much.

We would recommend fewer days at Ao Nang. 10 nights is too long compared with the “entertainment” and trips available. I think we covered it all in 6 days and could easily be done in 3 or 4 days.

We still loved it ;-)

Nice hotel for a relaxing stay, not too far from the beach..the hotel offers free transfer during the day.
The room was very nice with a lovely outdoor space.Although, we had an issue with air conditioning on the 1st day,the problem was fixed the day afterand we got breakfast complementary.
The staff is nice and helpful.

A pleasant hotel with 3 pools, a little bit out of the way. This wasn't a problem for us as we had a car, however the hotel isn't really equipped for parking cars (or utes).

The room was very clean and quite spacious overlooking one of the pools. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although officially it was the beginning of the high season, the hotel certainly was not busy and they had not commenced their full breakfast service. The breakfasts were OK but were off a restricted fixed menu.

This was our third or fourth visit to Ao Nang and we have stayed at different hotels each time but sadly Maleedee Bay didn't rate in the top 3. Whilst there was nothing specifically to fault it just lacked that little zing that makes the ordinary special. I also think there is better value for money in the Ao Nang area.

Our rule of thumb for accommodation is "Would we stay there again?" Ummm sorry but no :-( :-(

We were absolutely disappointed. The rooms are quiet big with an even bigger balcony but really that's basically the only good thing I could tell you about this hotel. The staff was very unhelpful (when our safety deposit box wouldn't open and I asked someone at the reception to help us they said they would look for someone and send them up immediately. After 20 minutes still nobody had arrived so my boyfriend walked down to the reception again and the guy who said he would look for somebody was still sitting in the same spot playing games on his phone and told my boyfriend that he couldn't leave) and at breakfast no one cared when there wasn't any more milk for example - you had to ask the staff to refill it every single time even though they had nothing to do. On top of that everything tasted kind of old which didn't make things better.
The water tap in the bathroom was literally just spitting out a tiny stream of water and the shower only had very hot water so it was almost impossible to wash your hair. The place itself looks nice - no doubt - but there were just too many things that ruined it.
Maybe if it were near the beach I could look past all those 'flaws' but with it's pretty inconvenient location (15 minute walk, part of it uphill) it's just not worth it.

I stumbled across the resort on agoda & read some of the reviews which were mainly positive so I decided on booking the delux suite with breakfast. We unfortunately got the furthest from delux, it looked literally nothing like the photos which were posted on agoda and the room we were offered was most certainly not the one we ordered! the room was old with timber boards everywhere, it had a musty smell and was quite dirty even though it had just been cleaned! We explained the situation to the man at the reception and after a lot of attitude he said that he couldn't move us anywhere else as the hotel was fully booked - which in actual fact was a lie as they were still advertising the room on agoda! After showing him that he said he needed to talk to someone else and he'd be back, 20 minutes had gone by and we realised he wasn't coming back! we walked to the reception area to find him playing games on his computer!! when he seen us he rolled his eyes & said if we wanted to move it'd have to be into a superior room which was smaller & cheaper! we almost agreed until he told us we wouldn't be reimbursed the difference!! my partner and I were both irate by then and asked to speak to the manager, the manager was reluctant to move us also & actually said that there was nothing wrong with the room but if we wanted to leave we would have to try be reimbursed by agoda! I then explained to him I didn't want to leave i just wanted the room we paid for, he first said we would have to pay 400baht extra p/n as the rate had changed!! we refused & then he said that if we didn't want to pay we weren't able to have breakfast!! we were tired & over arguing so just agreed to no breakfast which worked in our favour anyway because the food was horrid!

the resort itself is nice & in a good location, they have scooters for hire at the resort for 200baht for 24 hours which is pretty good, the room we ended up getting was great but could have done with better housekeeping as well as a DVD player!

Out of all the staff there there was only one male who was fantastic but the rest were very uninviting and seemed to try to get money out of you whenever they could!
I was actually baffled that the manager had the face to ask for a tip purely because he rolled our suitcase about 10 meters!

Overall I wouldn't go there again due to the bad customer service which is quite sad because it has the potential to be great it just needs new, friendly staff!

I was recommended a tour to phi phi islands by the staff and then the staff booked me on a different tour which was late, with horrible service. I think that they have a connection with a certain tour company, and since all the tours bring you to the same place, they do not care that it is not the company that you wanted. Be careful when booking tours through this hotel! Also, do not order food here. Our lunch was disgusting. The staff here is not friendly which is disappointing considering the price.

We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. The location is about a 25 minute walk to the town but the hotel offer a free tuk tuk service several times a day. We found the staff to be pleasant. Room was of a high standard, clean and of a decent size. Nice to have a big balcony to sit on and also a place to dry our clothes. Pool was okay if a little small and had a lot of chlorine it. Decent value for money- would definitely recommend. Can rent mopeds for a reasonable price.

We had 2 standard rooms and 1 room with bathtub. The room with bath was right by the pool on ground floor and had a huge bathroom and nice clean bath. The standard rooms were on a level up so their balconies had nice views.
The rooms were all big and clean. I would opt for just a standard room unless you really want to pay the extra for a bath.
The location had pros and cons:
We had to get a tuk tuk to and from the hotel everyday to get to the centre of the action (or walk for 20mins), so for us was once or twice a day and was 100baht for a tuk tuk into town and 30baht per person out of town. Riding a tuk tuk in ao nang is part of the experience though so I wouldn't let that put you off. There is a free shuttle which leaves from Maleedee a number of times a day but for us the timing was never right so we only used this service once. It was nice to be in a quiet location, after being in noisy Patong we had an awesome sleep at Maleedee. It was also nice to be in a spot which had a view of the mountains from our rooms and the pool area.
Everytime we used the pool area we had it to ourselves.
We had breakfast here once (they weren't doing buffet) and it wasn't the best, I would suggest going to one of the many places to eat in ao nang.
Maleedee was a good value place to stay.

I had some 7 rooms during Dec. '13 and stayed here for 4 nights with my family and extended family. To begin on the positives - the rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained. To our delight each room had a good size balcony with designer furniture to laze around. The rooms have with tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and a LCD TV. There was complimentary Wifi in the rooms and the restaurant. Unfortunately that's all I could think on the positives of this resort.

Now the sad part: the mixer control (to adjust hot and cold water flow through the shower) in the bathroom had been tucked up almost 12 feet high beyond the reach of the tallest person on the earth. So, you could just put on the shower or off it but could not adjust water temperature. The water was quite warm for us to bathe in and we requested the hotel staff several times to tune the hot water down or to lower the mixer control to make it accessible. They kept saying that they would adjust it to get colder water but just didn't happen. Infact I would not like to stay at a place where I have to call housekeeping to change the water temperature in the bathroom. Small thing though but could be very frustrating if you are bathing in water that is hotter than what your body could take.

The breakfast buffet was reasonably good. What could make your breakfast experience sour in Maleedee is when you are about to scoop out some food one of the hotel staff/guys would suddenly spring up in front of you and ask for the breakfast coupon... kind of posture that he would not let you have the food till you produce it. It happened a couple of times with me and was very annoying. I don't mind if there is a process where you could deposit your b'fast coupon before going in for it, but it was more like the hotel staff as CIA agents monitoring you as to what food you are picking up and just at the point they realize that you are going to explode they ask for your Thai visa. Basically I guess the hotel staff is composed of a bunch of local street guys with no training or knowledge of hospitality or hotel management.

On another late evening it took me 15 minutes of hard negotiation at the front desk (till I lost my temper) to get 1 coffee sachet. They kept arguing as to why I need it as there would be coffee at breakfast and I kept explaining that I need coffee on bed, the moment I get up. Pretty cheap huh...

We ate quite a few times at the restaurant as we were fond of Thai food. The menu was quite restrictive. Food was okay but we got bored ordering the same stuff over and over again. As usual there were quite a few annoyances. Since we were large in number we used to order by early evening and would request them to inform us when dinner was ready. Unfortunately the hotel do not use the technology called Intercom, so there is no way other than to walk if you wanted to contact the reception or house-keeping or for that matter even your friends staying in other rooms. Surprisingly they would get the food ready and place it on the table and then inform us. By the time we would arrive food would be cold. I could not explain them enough to stop this. Further they would not serve us the food and show up their rude behavior when asked for extra orders.

On the location - the hotel is about a few kilometers from the beach. A 10 minutes walk. So, do not expect any sea or beach facing rooms etc. The hotel has a tuk-tuk (rickshaw) if you like to avail but the overall attitude is that of a rip-off towards their guests. We paid some 400 bhats for a trip down to the beach. The place in the evening is quite dark and looks away from the city life and shopping centers around the beach. There are quite some hotels nearby but I ventured only one evening and ate the rest of the days at the hotel restaurant.

The hotel tried to create some fuss while we were checking out with the plea that one of the towels had got some ladies makeup (eyeliner stains) on it and they wanted to shell us extra for it which I refused.

Overall I think it is good property but poorly managed. I would avoid this place under all conditions in the future to save my vacation. Unlike many reviewers who did mention that this property is highly over-rated on Tripadvisor, I fully agree with them and also paid the price of not listening to them. I think given the overall experience I should be rating it as 2 iso 3.
