This has been our third stay at Vipa Tropical, this time for 8 nights. We love this little resort. The scenery and surroundings are stunning. Rooms are comfy and equipped with everything you need and all at a reasonable price. Staff are friendly and welcoming and very helpful.

There is a free shuttle too and from the beach which is nice as it can be a long walk in the midday sun.

Close enough to Soi Ao Nang for restaurants and bars etc but far enough away to be completely silent at night.

Highly recommend and don’t think we would ever stay anywhere else when visiting the Ao Nang area.

I highly recommend this resort! The location is ideal - a quiet oasis, but not too far from the beach and busy, touristy Ao Nang. Our cabin was very clean with AC and the breakfast was abundant. Our stay was made so special and memorable because of the outstanding customer service and care we received from the staff! Our room, the pool and the hotel property, was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, private, quiet, clean, with amazing views and lush landscaping. Our lovely and kind host spent time coaching us on our Thai language and did so much to make us feel welcomed and at home. I will definitely be back!

This is one of the most beautiful places I have stayed. If you want to be surrounded by mountains and greenery while being a short walk away from the hustle and bustle, this is perfect. The staff are super friendly and will help you with anything . The resort is about a 20 minute walk from the beach but a 5 minute walk to bars, shops and street food. The room was lovely and spacious with good privacy. If you’re looking to stay in the area, I recommend looking here.

Pleasant place, just outside the hustle and bustle of Ao Nang. Down the street a couple of fine eateries (11/1). Furthermore, lovely spacious rooms, nice veranda to sit. And close to the swimming pool.

Staff is friendly. However do not always seem aware of service vs. cost. The cab at the hotel is much more expensive than in the street. Like the day trip that you put together yourself than which is offered at the reception. Otherwise just fine! A wonderful stay.....

Don't book!! They don't have beds. They have nail beds. It's filthy and staff are rude.

And the air conditioning is broken and you say something about it, you'll be the first to report it. And they do nothing with it!!! Trip booked, but we were not told at the time of booking that half is not visitable?

For us, never again.

We stayed here seven years ago and it is just a beautiful now as it was then.
Excellent staff who will assist you in anything.
Great breakfast.
Stunning scenery and so incredibly peaceful. The main strip is five minute drive away. They offer free shuttle service to town.
Thanks for great stay

Recently (End of May 2014) we have stayed there for 6 nights and I have to say, that we were quite please of overall experience. Place is really cosy and pleasant. It is medium size, family run resort, so as you can imagine it is not as strict and formal, as you could be used to when visiting resorts on Cuba, Mexico or Maldives.

But please let go through our experience point by point.
1. Location
Vipa Tropical Resort is located few hundred meters from the main road which links Ao Nang with Krabi and rest of the world, next to huge, imprecise cliff. I have to admit that the view of it was stunning and was adding to the specific climate of the place.
The get to the Ao Nang “main” street you need to walk for about 20 minutes. But f course you can have a choice, as Vipa Resort offers free transport to Ao Nang. So choice is yours. We were always walking, as this is the best way to see as much as you can.
2. Facilities
Vipa Resort, probably due to the size, cannot offer too many facilities for visitors.
There is a small but well maintained swimming pool, “restaurant” where you can order lunch and dinner (although we have never did it), which I believe, were prepared to the order. Reception is open from more or less 7:30 am till about 10:00 pm, so if you will be planning to return to the resort after that time, it is better that you take your room key with you.
3. Bungalows.
For our stay we have chosen deluxe room. And we were very happy with that selection. Interior (and exterior) looks exactly as it is presented on the Vipa website, so there were no surprises (which unfortunately happens in Asia). Bungalow (half of it to be precised) was very spacious. Hue double bed, build in wardrobe, good size TV, mini fridge, mirror. And of course perfectly working air-con (not really noisy, so did not interrupt night sleep). Also exterior looked great. Surrounded by tropical plants, with lovely terrace with some chairs. Very peaceful place.
Our bungalow had a quite OK toilet/ shower room.
In general bungalow was clean, tidy and very cosy. Cleaning was proper.
However in my opinion the toiled would require little bit more work. Wall tallies were quite “tired” and would do proper deep cleaning. Also bottom part of the sink was not up t standards (not properly cleaned for a long time). However that is just a small thing, which will not affect your holiday at all.
The Wi-Fi was easily accessible and free of charge, so you can remain in touch with rest of the world while on holiday.
The big minus was the fact that there was no safe ox in the room and actually non in the whole resort.
Of course we did not missed anything, but it would always give us a piece of mind if we could lock our valuables in the safe.
4. Food & drinks.
As mentioned before, the Vipa Resort has restaurant which offers variety of local food. However we did only had a breakfast there. And we were very pleased with it. Simple, but freshly prepared. European style, which helps you to start a day, if you are not fan of Thai cuisine. Service very polite (it was this same guy that was cooking our breakfast, being also resort driver and maintenance guy – beauty of small, family owned company). Strong coffee and selection of fruits. What else can you want to start a day.
Regarding drinks. Vipa resort has not got bar (pub). There was a fridge with a selection of soft drinks and water, but you could not find there for example a beer. Well, that was not a big problem, as there was 7 Eleven store quite near.
5. Additional offers.
As we do not like to stay in one place, we decided to book quite few tours in the area. And the thing is, that you can book whatever you want just from the reception. And we found out that all was done perfectly, all information were given upon booking and all was done up to the schedule.
You can also book traditional Thai massage, which is done in your room. Costs almost nothing, but apparently is great (my partner took it and enjoyed it).
6. Overall experience.
In general I have to say we were very happy with our stay. Resort is small, but cosy (I know I have used that word few times already). Atmosphere is very friendly and very pleasant. You feel welcome, not only because you have paid for your stay, but because (in my opinion), owners and staff wants you to feel welcome.
When we have been leaving, almost whole stuff came to say good bye.

In general in my opinion this resort is a good place to spend your holiday if you are looking for cosy quiet place, not far from town.

If someone would ask me if it was good, I can easily and honestly say yes.

If someone would ask me if it was flawless, I would have to say no. The things I would improve would be:
- cleanliness of the toilet,
- safe box in the room or resort,
- 24 hour reception,
- better supplied “bar”.

Besides that I have loved our stay there.

And yes. I would definitely return there. And yes, I would recommend that place to all my friends.
It is not perfect, but it is good enough, to make your holiday enjoyable.

Can’t praise this place enough.
Staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic. Our villa was perfect. Pool is lovely and peaceful (water is warm!). Bed is comfy. Shower is hot and has good pressures. We had a huge fridge for water.

It still has a few little areas that could improve, like most places, but nothing that has impacted on our stay!

Only downside is the cliffs block the sunlight so there is only sun on the pool from 10:30 til 4:30. This probably matters less to some people than others though!

well the thing that really put me off was when we rented motorcycles from them, i scratched it (seriously there were 3 - 5 scratches but nothing major) and because they held my friend's passport i got charged A LOT for it. and i had to pay to get the passport back..

i got the lower end rooms which were very crappy for what i was paying. expect rudimentary toilets, yes there is hot water but its right next to the toilet and the whole bathroom ends up wet due to the set up of it (no section, curtain etc). also the beds were really really old, hard and i think had bed bugs. i did not dare to sleep under the covers so i just slept on the covers on the bed and used insect repellent. the air con did not work the entire time i was there. other than that, it was decent, there is a pool and people are generally nice until money comes into play.

i think only go for it if you can negotiate a lower price and expect very basic accommodation with not so comfy/clean beds. also, never ever hand over your passports.

Myself and my partner are leaving Aonang today and heading back to the UK. Couldnt pass on reviewing this amazing hotel ! We stayed here end of feb/beginning of march (10 days) and found Vipa a little gem ! I have stayed in aonand twice before and tgis is defo the best hotel i have stayed at over here ! We payed about £300 for the both of us for the 10 days.

Views are absolutely stunning ! Simple ! Room was just as we expected, bed was comfy, fridge worked, not the hilton by any means but have stayed in much much much worse in the UK for a lot more of money ! Air con was a life safer after a long day spent on the beach !

Swimming pool that dome people have said is too small well if youre a familly of 12 then yeah otherwise its nver crowded and is in the middle of a mini jungle surrounded by the towering cliffs and the little bungallows. PERFECT !

Staff is always very helpful and will bend backwards to sort something out for you (tours also as they are heavily discounted compared to high street prices !!!)

All in all i would absolutely come back here and tbh will not look anywhere else if (when) we come back. 5 stars for me !

I am curious how far the hotel is from the Krabi Airport?

Depends on your means of travel. With the bus it is 45minutes or a bit more, with a van or taxi it is much less.

Hi Tina. We only went to Raillay beach. It was amazing. It’s 100 bhat each way. The boats go from the pier all the time. If you go - go to east raillay and keep walking. It’s busy but really amazing. Lovely food and cold beer all days. Boats going back and forward all day. It’s centrally controlled pricing. Also Hire a scooter and go to Klong Muang beach. It’s quiet and the food cafe is incredible. The beach is almost deserted. At Vipa we had a cottage at the back - it’s was room 104. Hope that helps

hi can you tell me what is the size of the pool . it does look quite small
Answer from Sebastian B

to be honest I didn't go out there with my tape measure so not sure about the exact size however it was big enough for all our needs. if a pool party is what you have in mind it's probably best not to stay at this hotel.
