Had a wonderful stay at the Mini House Ao Nang with my young family. We had booked the family room for 4 nights. We had arrived late to the accommodating after a 10 hour road trip from Malaysia and when we arrived, the room was ready for us and we did not need to wait for a lengthy check in time. My 4 year old needed to pee badly and the staff had brought him to the room (which was on the ground floor) immediately.

The staff was friendly and patient with us. The room was very clean, big and spacious with ample space for my kids to play in the room. They would run in and out freely to read books by the lobby. We felt right at home. Great choices for breakfast and ample portions. 3 sets was enough to feed our family of 4.

Location was awesome, with plenty of food choices up and down the street. Also walking distance or short tuk2 ride to the beach. It was easy for us to get around Krabi.

One suggestion which we mentioned to the staff while we were there, it would be nice to have some fans in the room as we did not like having the air conditioning on all day. We could then have the doors and balcony open for some fresh air.

Everything else was excellent! Will definitely come back again!! Thank you Mini House!

I visited this hotel with groups of friend. They provide a van service from and to hotel. The achitecture is good, the little pond is lovely. The rooms are very comfortable with nice placing the second floor is stunning. Staffs are always occupied with smile and you can ask anything with them. There are various choices of breakfast (American, sandwiches, oatmeal, rice porridge, chicken biryani, etc) everything is delicious. It might be because we came in group so the plates slowly arrive. All in all a wonderful moment in Krabi

Well-located in Ao Nang, about a 10 min walk to the beach and where the longtail boats go to Railay. Staff were amazingly friendly and gave us restaurant recommendations which had great food. Our room was fairly spacious, well appointed and had a little balcony. Q

Only book one night in Mini House, would have book a few more nights if I were to know earlier it’s such a nice place. The design of the hotel is very serene and modern. Location was strategic with a lot of shops and restaurant around. 8min walk to Ao Nang beach side.

I arrived at this hotel lunch time after booking a room through Agoda. I walked to reception and told them I had a booking at which point I was asked for my voucher. About 10 minutes later a person called Mrs Hong walked out and told me flat without the slightest hint of apology that all the rooms were full, and she would give me a refund.
Sure I was very happy about that, and a further explanation was quite rudely offered that she tried to book another hotel at the same price but it was full. The next words boiled down to take your money and go sleep on the beach.
After a while more of rather ugly arguing, Mrs Hong found us a hotel in Krabi town with a so say similar value and agreed to pay the transfer. As you may have guessed about the charecter of this Mrs Hong the room in the city was well below the quality of what we paid for.
After further checking Agoda had never been informed about this so say double booking and eventually found a suitable place to stay and threw in a few extras.
I would strongly recommend not booking this hotel as you may find yourself being rudely thrown on to the street by the worst management I have ever seen if a group booking like the post below turns up.

Response from Hong_Soulh, Owner at Mini House Aonang
Responded 16 Mar 2014
Dear Madam, I am writing this reply to your dissatisfaction with our management of room reservation via Agoda. Therefore, I would like to explain the situation as the following: First of all, Mini House Aonang would kindly explain that all the inconvenience related to reservation errors are on our responsibility. For this reason, we are deeply sorry and never wish this incident to happen again in the future. We realize that your time visiting Krabi was priceless. Regarding the situation, we tried our best to solve the problem for you by providing 2 options which are 1) 100% money refund and 2) we offered new accommodation according to customer’s preferences in both Aonang area and Krabi’s city center together with a free-of-charge taxi service to compensate all the difficulties. However, in the end, the customer requested a full refund besides our effort to solve the problem and we did so as requested. As a consequence of this incident, we, Mini House Aonang, became aware of factors affecting our service. Therefore, we will be more considerable in managing our booking system to prevent any errors and dissatisfaction from our valued customers. We appreciate all of the customers and their feedbacks in order to improve our service. Once again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience. Hong and Mini House Aonang

Let me start by saying I travel for 4 days each week for work and have been doing so for the past 5 years. I stay usually at 4 or 5 star hotels as that is our norm.

For the price we paid for Mini House, it was in some ways, cheaper than a hostel. I have cleanliness standards but the pics looked good and it was a new establishment so we decided to give it a try.

I can say that this hotel deserves all the 5 stars it gets. This is a no frills joint but you get all you need. Hot water supply was great for shower, there was a safe, a fridge, free bottles of water. So we didn't have a hairdryer and a box of kleenex, big woop (you can walk 30 secs to 7 Eleven to buy a box of kleenex yourself and they provide hairdryers at the front desk).

Considering how run down and dirty some other 4 and 5 star hotels were in the area, this was the cleanest by far. The most admirable thing was the owners (brother and sister) are genuinely talented as they designed the entire establishment themselves and also extremely kind. Everyone who has provided a review has already talked about how nice they are in helping to book tours and making sure your stay is comfortable.

I will say this though, it rained all 4 days we were there. And on one particular day, the working staff (who usually are treated rather poorly by management) needed to walk back and forth in the rain to deliver breakfast to patrons and go to rooms. And these staff were middle aged - elderly ladies. You know what the hotel owner (sister) did? She grabbed an umbrella and accompanied these working staff back and forth across the lobbies and up and down the stairs to make sure they didn't get soaked. That level of sincerity in a person speaks volumes to the type of people running this joint. This is a first class hotel and I would gladly refer all my friends and family to stay there as well.

I really thank my luck that we went to Mini House. It was like coming home in another country. Thanks to Toh (I hope I have the right spelling) who manages the Mini House, we had the most memorable and cherished memories of Krabi Aonang. Whatever you need, you just need to ask and the answer is "Yes". Toh is always smiling and ready to help you, be it organizing the 4 island trip or transfer to Airport or to anywhere, bike rental, hair dryer, laundry, anything and everything. The rooms are nice and have a homely character to them. Clean and relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast is simple but served with big smile. You feel as if you are in your own house, you feel loved and cared for. Best hospitality ever experienced! The 7/11 shop is just 10 steps away. Beach is just 10 minutes of walking distance and has the best sunset. My only incentive to go back to Aonang is to stay in Mini House. Thank Toh for making our stay special and memorable.

For those only reading the first rows and for sensitive sleepers: construction right next to the hotel. Cannot say it is not disturbing, because it is, sorry to say. Workers are actually living there, in poor, metal cottages, and they are up from 6am, chitchatting and childcaring until they start the construction work, which is supposed to start from 8.30am but trust me, it is earlier. Should end up at 5pm but it does not. So prepare yourself to compensate the lack of sleep in the beach during daytime...
Well every building has to be built somehow so this is unfortunate but what can we do about it?
Otherwise this is a lovely place, the owners care about you like mom and dad, they have a great sense of humour and they speak very good English. If service is important to you and also to feel safe when you are on holiday, you can count on them, honestly. They have contracted travel agencies and the prices are low like hell, do not book any trip in advance, they will help you organize everything and they also give you nice advices about places and trips you never heard before but worth visit. Rely on them, the guests are very important for them. Breakfast is from a menu card, and it is lovely and fresh. As a result, if you have any food allergy, warn them in advance.
Beach is about 10 mins walk, not far, tons of shops and streetfood available. Price/ value is great, cannot beat it, I have checked many hotels before booking here. Aircon works great, cleaning is spotless, laundry service is cheap and high level (still found some clothes washed there, still smell the sunshine, awwww I wanna go back!)

I didn't see taxi when I got there. But when you step outside of the airport, there is shuttle bus - slightly look like a truck but it was fun too ;) , cost around 270bath per person. It will bring you to a small restaurant and passengers will need to change to another smaller van, depending whether you are going to Krabi town or Aonang beach. But you don't have to pay again when you change vehicle. The driver knows where each hotel is located so you don't have to worry. For mini house, they will stop you in front of the small path going up to the hotel (less than a minute walk only).
