I went for a drink at the bar of the Old Gin restaurant with some friends. We paid 7.5 US dollars for (half) a glass of wine!!! How can they justify this? That is just crazy! It's not that this small island is like Paris or New York...

Dear Overseas 18, First of all, we like to use (and enjoy!) good wine. While we understand that you may find the prices on the Island on the high side, please note that everything is brought in by ship or by plane from St. Maarten. It does make everything more costly. We hope you and your friends had a good...

Stayed at the Old Gin House while diving with Scubaqua. Location is perfect; less than 100 yards from the dive shop and right near the water. The rooms were clean and the maintenance crew was constantly cleaning the grounds and pool. As you would expect on a small island, running water comes from a cistern so you will be drinking...

I was in Statia for scuba diving, and the hotel couldn't be more convenient for diving with Scuba Aqua. We had an ocean view room which was huge, with a living room and separate office area and literally right on the water. It was so relaxing to sit on the patio and to fall asleep to the crashing waves. Rooms...

Our dive group visited St. Eustatius the 2nd week of February, and elected to stay at the Old Gin House. The rooms were clean and the maintenance staff were very pleasant. The front desk was a hit or miss on friendliness. The lobby area was comfortable and cozy. The restaurant, however, is not equipped to handle a group of 22....

I always stay here when on island. It is a historic place that is done up very nice. Small and personal service. The A/C runs cold and being from Texas this is what you love! The restaurant has great breakfast and lunch daily and the bar by the water is fun to hang out at. Some nights they have music...

Part our business trip to Statia, I booked two rooms for two nights in this hotel using "booking.com". I received four emails to confirm; two for the correct dates and two for wrong dates. I emailed directly to the hotel informing them about this. Never received an email back or thank you. Upon arrival, they did not have our reservation...

Nothing spectacular, best part of stay was the little oceanfront bar\restaurant. I question why people never smile, friendly customer service is not a common thing here or maybe not even on many of the islands. Ask for a blanket otherwise the sheet on your bed (thats all you get) will not provide constant comfort all night.

...and while we look forward to revisiting some places, once was enough. The service was fine, the food delicious, the historic nature of the inn not as much as we had hoped for. It was fun to get our bottle of wine with what seemed to be a fire cracker attached to it.We enjoyed visiting the island and accomplished our...

My husband, daughter and I returned to Statia, the OGHouse and Golden Rock Dive Center again this year. We normally don't return to an island twice but because my husband was injured last year and the diving was sooo good, we decided to return. We really like the hotel. Not fancy, but quiet, quaint, and very clean. The dinners at...
