This is definitely not the best part of town. I don't consider it dangerous, but walking the streets in this area late at night is probably not for the timid.
Security is very good. The hotel parking is gated and the gate is locked after midnite. There is also a security guard on duty 24 hours.
The accomodations are special for hotels in this price range in that they are clean and in good repair, both in the room and in the lobby and corridors. There is an elevator.
The room was very quiet given the heavy traffic in the area. There was an air conditioner in the room. My (internet) reservation was for a room with a queen size bed. What I actually got was two double beds. If this is important to you, you should probably confirm it at the desk during check in. Besides the beds, the furnishings included a night stand with lamp between the beds, a dresser with mirror, a single chair and a TV on its own stand. There was no table. The shower (no tub) was large and had good water pressure. There was also a balcony with two plastic patio chairs.
As with most things in Mexico, your experience may vary.
No pool, but great location, restaurant for breakfast, comfy beds, parking, cable, tons of hot water, for 40 bucks you won't find something better, trust me I looked.
Right across the street from a 7-11 Oxxo and the plaza. The famous Mercado negro for all of the seafood is just across the street to you're right a block or two.The Hotel itself is well kept and the lobby is surprisingly Beautiful. There are plenty of restaurants and shops behind the Hotel and if you walk down far enough, there is even a Sears!
" The Beautiful Cinderella " This is actually the Nickname for Ensenada. I was born and raised here until I was about 20 years old.
So this is my story.
We were a small group of members from Super Sonic Samba School from San Diego,Ca. We go to Ensenada every year to Perform at the Parade on Sunday and at night on the main street of the whole Carnaval area. Sometimes we go there on Friday night to party/perform the whole weekend.
We were so tired, some went to different places. Our small group of 6 people end up at a hotel from Hell in the worse area of Ensenada. ( Prostitution, bad smell and other stuff you really do not want to mention here). I suggested some of the friends to go and find anoter place to stay. This was way!!! after midnight. We were tired and stressed out about the situation. We walked only few block and end up at Hotel Santo Tomas. We were 4 in our group. We got a room with 2 full beds, a balcony to the main Boulevard Costero, Very nice and clean bathroom, with lots of towels. We were so pleased with the room. The only thing is that you can hear people from the room next to you. Well it turned out that it was a soccer team next to us continuing parting until about 4 in the morning. We were so tired that we just showered and went to bed.. The lobby is very clean and nice atmosphere. You have a secure parking lot. I will totally recomend this one to eveyone I know. Really.
