Detailed Reviews
In fairness I have to confess that our family has been coming to this charming small beachfront hotel for the past 10 yrs. We spend a month basking in the sun and swimming in the ocean and the pool. The staff are terrific, rooms are always clean and comfortable and the ambience is laid back…Most of the time. On the weekends, with a wedding venue next door, it can get a little crowded and loud at times but overall, its simply one of the best smaller locations for a beachfront Holiday. Full cooking facilities should you wish.

My boyfriend and I went last 16th of september due to the festivities of my country for the 200 years of independence, we had at work a long weekend so we went there for leisure and relax. When we arrived everyhting was perfect, the hotel is nice according the price and comfortable. Our room was perfect, spacious and ventilated. The swimming pool was clean and fresh. The problem started a few hours later when a masive family arrived and stay ALL DAY long till 11 pm playing, laughing and drinking around the swimming pool. Im not an old fashion or bitter girl, what happened there was they were very noisy and we wanted to rest ... I was really annoyed but my boyfriend calmed me down and finally we could have a nice days taking the sun. But could have been better except fo those thoughtless people. One of the best things to do there is to walk with no shoes over the sand all long the beach, just be careful with the little stones and rubbish...

Wonderful Restaurant with excellent service, delicious food and a terrific pianist. The presentation of food and ambiance was excellent. We will certainly recommend this restaurant. Perfect size for an intimate evening.

HE WORST HOTEL EVER.
I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights with this sh*t hole hotel so my bridal party and my husband’s groomsmen can get ready there since our wedding venue is nearby. My husband and I also planned to sleep there the night of our wedding but this happened.. Upon walking in the room, all my bridesmaid told me how ugly the hotel is. The the hotel AC didn’t even work. It was so hot inside the room, we had to open the door and windows just so we can breathe. It felt like a sauna in there.
One of my bridesmaids came 2 hours later since she was running errands for me and she told me that they wouldn’t let her in because there were already more than 2 people in the room. They had to call their manager who is SERIOUSLY the RUDEST person I have ever encountered. I couldn’t believe it and it was all happening on my wedding day! I checked in at 12pm and checked out at 430pm. Mind you, I booked it for 2 nights and ended up just staying for 4 and half hours. IT WAS THAT BAD. I had to go to my wedding venue to finish getting ready.
My husband also told me that they were rude to him when he checked in with his boys. He was so upset. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Our Family has been coming to this oceanfront, small hotel since it opened in 2004. We typically spend one month and have never been anything other than delighted with all aspects of our stay.
From Eva at the front desk to Sr Barraquiel (Gen Mgr), EVERYONE treats us like family. The prices are reasonable and the vista is perfect. Some weekend wedding next door can be loud but, overall, its still our "go to" place every year. Rumour is that they are converting to an "all inclusive"
NOT a good idea………all suites are fully equipped with kitchens. Why would ANYONE want to go to an "all iclusive" if they can self cater???????

We have stayed at the Star Bay twice, and each time were so impressed by the staff, they would take care of us with smiles. The units are large, we stayed with friends in a 2 BR each time and have more appliances than we have at home. Every suite has a ocean view. The pool area is great, with little areas for shade and sun, the few steps take you down to the beach.
We are going again this year and looking forward to it. I prefer to cook our own meals and go out to different restaurants, so again just perftect for that.

My wife and I have spent a month each year at this lovely smaller all-sutes hotel for the past 8 yrs. This year we invited our Family (12 adults and 4 kids 2-6 yrs) and the result was fantastic.
The front desk leader, Eva, made all of the arrangements for suitable accommodations, orchestrated several moves to make it possible for us to all be in the same immediate vicinity.
The Suites all have full cooking facilities and we made use of them while also sampling the MARVELLOUS fresh fish from Carlo's restaurant on-site as well as some great inexpensive lunches etc. As we were celebrating a special birthday for my wife, Carlos even arranged for Fireworks and a Pinata together with a great spread of H'ors D'oeuvres and an unbelievably delicious Chocolate birthday cake.
The hotel is absolute beachfront, has a great pool with facilities for younger children and is, in our opinion, one of the best values in the La Cruz area. It is Family owned and pride of place is evident in the care they take in maintaining the facilities. ALL of the staff are friendly and helpful. This is not your typical Mexican High-rise, all inclusive American style hotel.
It is Mexican and located about 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta on the Bahia de Banderas.
There are many reasons why we return each year..............Location,price,facilities and friendly staff are just a few.........Occasionally a wedding takes place at a facility next door and it can carry on into the wee hours but on the whole, we found that it was not a big issue.
