Formerly known as Oasis Downtown Hostel, this is one of the few youth hostels in downtown Puerto Vallarta. We like to see ourselves as a refuge for travelers; a safe, fun, memorable place where life-long friendships develop. Be greeted (with an ice cold beer) by our friendly and helpful staff who also enjoy a good party! So if you want a good time here in Puerto Vallarta, come and join us. In total we have four dorms: we have an eight bed female dorm, two ten bed mixed dorms and a four bed mixed dorm. They all come with fans. There are also assigned lockers inside the dorms for each guest. The staff members organize some bar crawls, day trips to the beaches and Spanish lessons; feel free to ask for any events!

Had a great stay here! Travis, in reception, was awesome and helped me find some of the best food in town. Beds we’re comfortable and clean. Location was perfect, just watch out for those early church bells. Would visit again!

So i started out this trip terrified to stay in hostels. I’ve seen the movies and I’ve heard the worst. If you are staying in any hostel in Puerto Vallarta, stay here. The staff is so unbelievably welcoming and treat you like family. It’s a calm cool clean hostel, yet they know how to have fun and keep you happy. I have no complaints about this place and i highly recommend it to you.

Amazing place at downtown. The service and staff was amazing. The staff some days organize tours and pub crawls, which were amazing. Also, the included breakfast was so delicious, and every day there was a different menu to eat. Lovely people, and you can talk to people around the world there. Amazing place! I will come back there! :)

I have been staying at this hostel for the past ten years. Each time I visit, it feels like going to my second home. The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful. The rooftop is my favorite, great for a calm morning or a great place to watch the sunset.

Casa Kraken Hostel was absolutely perfect! It's walking distance from all the things you want to do around town (shopping, restaurants, nightlife, town square, etc.), and the bus is a 10 peso ride to some amazing beaches that the hosts will actually take you on a hiking tour of! Gorgeous! The hostel itself is super funky with colorful art, a super chill vibe, and amazingly clean. I felt safe, welcome, and completely at home here. As an extra bonus, the view from the roof top terrace is astounding (you can see a pirate ship in the bay as it blows fireworks every night!) Liz and Travis made my stay pretty much the best I could imagine - I will definitely be coming back!
