Detailed Reviews
My husband and I have been coming to PV for several years and have stayed at this hotel many times. We love the location (a short block from the best part of los muertos beach), as well as the casual contemporary style of the hotel and its grounds. We love the small neighborhood bars, restaurants (116 Pulpito!), and shops that immediately surround it. And the best part is that room rates are very reasonable.
As with every privately-owned boutique hotel I have ever stayed, it has it quirks. This one comfortably accommodates couples or groups that are not looking to be fussed over by staff or to be overly impressed by the accommodations. If you’re looking to spend your days out on the beach or town, or quietly by the poolside, Villa Mercedes checks the right boxes.
Yes, the rooms could use a soft refresh, but with the current challenges in the hospitality industry, we were grateful for simple, familiar place to land for an extended stay. The staff is kind and accommodating, but don’t expect breakfast in bed, unless you head down to the courtyard early to grab the continental offerings yourself.
Next time we stay, we plan to bring our pod of friends. Nothing like a private, quiet getaway at a simple hotel with those you love...🏖

This was our second trip down to PV and we wanted to be right in the middle of the zona romantica. Close to the beach, great view and walking distance to everything. This hotel is all of these things and more. We were in one of the penthouse suites and spent a lot of time on the patio enjoying the view and talking to our neighbor which happened to be the owners brother. It's a family business for sure and they definitely feel like family, including introducing you to the dogs that welcome you as you walk in the door. We came during a difficult time(covid19) but they helped us enjoy our vacation and found a place for us to get the required testing so we could return home. The room was very comfortable for the three of us and included everything we needed, including a fridge bar area with coffee maker and various utensils. We didn't really made whole meals but more like snacks, drinks or warmed up leftovers. The included breakfast was basic but good, if you want more, there's tons of options like Cocos kitchen right around the corner. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town, enjoy this place it's very special.

+1
This was undoubtedly one of the finest hotel experiences I've had. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The bed provided the most comfortable sleep I've enjoyed in a long time. Both the fan and air conditioner worked perfectly, allowing me to sleep comfortably. The hotel features a rooftop seating area and a pool surrounded by a pleasant lounge space.
Additionally, the hotel is offers breakfast each morning. My breakfast included toast with peanut butter, fresh fruit, and juice. The housekeepers were very sweet and diligently cleaned our rooms whenever we displayed the sign.
Moreover, the hotel is conveniently located just a block from the beach, with a convenience store around the corner as well.
I would highly recommend booking this hotel , we stayed a week and will definitely be back real soon.

This was my 4th stay @ this very charming property in an amazing location , I have not stayed here in about 3-3.5 yrs . While it’s a horrible time for business’s to spend $ on updates the charm is now not enough to make up for bathrooms that could use a bit of an update . I absolutely love the location that can not be be beat but not sure I’ll stay so soon here again . Also , they now have not 1 but 2 very large dogs and they bark very loud at all hours .This location is already in a somewhat loud area but the windows are easily 20-40 yrs old and I wish I had taken a pic as they are absolutely way past being replaced . The price and location can’t be beat but for me this might not be enough to make up for a future stay until they have and spend a little $ on these things .Not against animals but not everyone loves large dogs roaming and barking .Not saying don’t stay here just things to be aware of .

I reached out to Villa Mercedes Petit Hotel to make a reservation for my friend’s 50th birthday.
My reservation was from February 16 to February 21st.
I had to cancel, because my flight got cancelled and then the flight tickets were to expensive.
My cancellation was within 24 hours as per their policy.
Daniela offered me a certificate valid for a year for the amount of my booking to use at a later with the hotel, but my intention was to come and celebrate my friends 50th birthday. I have no traveling plans to come to Vallarta in a near future.
I requested full reimbursement since I canceled within 24 hours as stated in their policy, and it was declined. By the time I addressed the fact that they had a cancellation policy, they removed it from their website.
Please be aware that this Hotel has very questionable business practices if you decide to make a reservation at their Hotel. I live in Canada, and don't have the luxury to go to Mexico that easy.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times and we booked during COVID at a great price and all of a sudden 4 months later resorts are open and they can charge more so they cancelled our hotel stay. HUGE INCONVENIECE. I had to spend 48 min on the phone with Hotels.com to find a hotel comparable in pricing which was difficult 60 days from our trip during peak season. I wouldn't take the chance if I were you. Plenty more options to choose from.

I choose this hotel due to the photos online and overall good reviews on here. I loved the idea of staying at a boutique hotel that seemed to be vibrant with a lot of character.
I will say this hotel is perfectly situated. Really has an amazing location next to the main beach and short walk to the bars/restaurants. Unfortunately that’s where the upsides fall short. The guy at the front desk who checked me in/out wasn’t too friendly. He was the only staff member I interacted with and set the tone for my stay. He should be more welcoming especially since the hotel has flaws.
The interior of the property is tired and could use a much needed refresh. I know these are challenging times, though a even a small refresh would go a long way here. I decided to get the presidential suite for a enhanced experience, though would have been better off with a regular suite. The rooms don’t get a lot of light, even with all the lights on. Also, I didn’t realize it’s one big shared balcony with 3 other rooms either, which thankfully wasn’t a problem, but wasn’t my expectation either. The biggest concern is the key situation, they give you this huge filthy antiquated key with a card attached to it, the key was very challenging to get in and out of the door of my room, and was just a burden to keep up with during my stay and fear loosing it. I really don’t like leaving sour reviews, and I truly wanted to love this hotel upon booking.
Honestly I wouldn’t stay here or recommend it, but like I said the location is what made it tolerable.

The hotel is beautiful. The staff is outstanding. Pinto the hotel dog was super friendly and loved on everyone. We watched whales breach from our ocean view balcony and breakfast was filling and cooked on demand. If you're searching for affordable with all the amenities and incredible staff, stop looking. You've found it!!

We have been regular visitors to Puerto Vallarta for years and stayed in multiple different hotels and condos. Of all the places we've stayed in this is by far the WORST ever.
1. 3 days no hot water!
2. No WIFI for most of stay.
3. The "continental breakfast" was toast and bowl of fruit.
4. The young man at the front desk told was rude and unhelpful.
5. Coffee pot, mini fridge and microwave are not a kitchenette. So no meal prep in room.
6. Reservations were made/paid six months ahead of our visit. And they put us in one of the worst locations in the hotel. The bar across the street blared music till 2 am. We asked to be moved and were given the runaround.
Claudia, the house keeper was amazing. She kept our room spotlessly clean, answered our questions and helped with the cold water situation. We made sure she was properly tipped.

We had a reservation for late February into early March. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a piece of paper on the floor indicating the water was out and was supposed to be on by 10pm that evening. We decided to wait it out, but there was no water that evening. We spent the night and tried the next morning to no avail, we then contacted the hotel manager who indicated it wasn't their problem and there would be no refunds. We decided to book another hotel and leave, and dispute the charge on the card, which they also are fighting resulting in us being out the money despite not staying at the hotel. It turns out the water was out for days as they worked to repair the issue, despite this not being the hotel's fault, there should have been a complete refund or at a minimum, notice so that we could have cancelled ahead of time. Overall, terrible experience and the hotel is barely adequate as it is, I would recommend you stay just about anywhere else to avoid any issues.

Yes. Stairs only.
Not me, but my friend had it happen to him twice. He won't stay there again because of it. They're very unorganised i hear.
