This was a budget hotel. It had very basic amenities. Make sure to bring your own toiletries, as there was only bar soap, shampoo and lotion in the bathroom. Also, just two bath towels. No hand towels. Loved the luggage storage option and the rooftop. Location was excellent.

***Very important***

If you book a double room and you’re a couple, make sure to call the front desk before you arrive to confirm that you will have one bed. My partner and I were shown to our room and realized that we had two small, twin-sized beds. Obviously we wanted to sleep in one bed, so we tried the first night, but it was uncomfortable. I mentioned this to the front desk receptionist and he said we should try the next day. The next day I asked again if we could be moved to a room with one bed and he said there weren’t any available. I was pretty frustrated because if I had known I would’ve called ahead to make sure. We ended up sleeping in separate beds the second night so that we could sleep comfortably.

This hotel was good for two night, but I wouldn’t want to stay any longer.

This was my first trip to PV so I had not idea what a great spot this traditional Mexican hotel was in. It is in the heart of it all. Near the beach, downtown, the markets and with no hills to climb. It's not fancy but it is clean, and the staff were wonderful. I will definitely stay again when I return to the beach.

The air conditioner was not working in our room and the front desk staff didn't have any care in the world about the issue. Told no other rooms available. Told no longer spoke English. Very immature and told me to call my reservation company. After calling the reservation company, they offered a new room. If you have problems at this hotel, call your reservation company immedidately and get them involved to address the concerns so they are documented. After numerous complaints are made, the hotel might just address the front desk issues or get delisted. There are plenty of other hotels at a reasonable price in Puerto Vallarta that care about their guests. Elevator is out of service periodically. They need to get a permanent fix for this, or upgrade it.

Trying to create a budget friendly trip to PV, I booked a room at this little place. I thought for sure I would be able to handle it and muscle my way through the smallness, the possible uncleanliness, and overall uncomfortable accommodations. NOPE! Couldn't do it. The entire place is just icky. Our room felt like a blue jail cell. The doors to the bathroom and balcony don't have doorknobs, just sliding locks. Then the kicker.... bugs! Saw probably 2 to 3 different kinds, with one swarming all over the desk next to the water pitcher. We didn't ask for a refund (booked through Travelocity), we just handed over the key and said we were checking out. No questions were asked. We are now at Hotel Rio Malecon in their honeymoon suite I guess you could call it and it's much better. We did get to see other studio rooms and they were way too small.

People should take into consideration what they are actually paying at a hotel. If you want a 5 Star Hotel? Book a 5 Star Hotel and pay hundreds of dollars a night for it. If you want a budget hotel? Be prepared not to have some high end brand name toiletries, an onsite gourmet restaurant, a concierge at every elevator etc. This hotel is clean, the staff are warm and friendly, the location is perfect. It is rather small so there are not dozens of people hanging about the lobby.

I booked 2 rooms on this hotel trying to make a budget family trip to PV. I ended up staying on it for only 4 hours, meaning enough time to find another hotel to move! The bad experience started on the check-in, which took us about 45 minutes. Later we went to the rooms, which were 2 floors apart - imagine having your kids 2 floors apart from you! By the time we got into the rooms, we only had time to try taking a bath to find out both rooms had their shower drains cloged!!!! That was enough for us to decide to forget about the money we had paid and move to a different hotel!

Funny thing only the bell boy tried to make us stay. The guys on the reception haven't told us anything and the manager, if they have one, never showed up to see what was going on!

If you like confortable, and clean rooms, run away from this hotel!!!!
The low price is not worthy the trouble!

I am under the impression all the goods reviews are fake! be careful!

This hotel is a gem! I've been here for 10 days and love it. Why? The location by the river is peaceful and calm. I wake up and sit on my private balcony drinking my morning coffee (provided in the lobby for free) overlooking gigantic Bougainvillea with the trees and river beyond it. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are pristine clean, and the rooftop terrace is an incredible spot to see the sunset. It's a great hotel for families, couples, and solo travelers. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay memorable and all the recommendations I've received from them have made my stay. When you know where to go to get the best shrimp ceviche and where to buy anything you need it makes it easy and joyful to be here. And the location is superb! You're a 5 minute walk from all the bars, restaurants, and Los Muertos Beach so you have it all at your fingertips. It's very romantic to walk across the pedestrian only bridge over the river contemplating where you'll eat and what yummy food you'll find next. Just ask the staff they will recommend authentic Mexican food and beaches to explore. If you like you can take the bus or taxi (Uber) to Mismaloya Beach and the Botanical Garden and anywhere else you would like to discover. If you're reading this review now, you've found your place just book it. Maybe I'll still be here!

Paid over the odds, holiday season. Room dingy moldy curtains which didn’t open . Balcony door hard to open, wouldn’t fully close. No lock on door. Nothing worked as it should have cept shower which was good but door kept jumping off the runner. Been before but this was our worst experience. Despite people coming and going daily no alternative room was offered for 8 days. We are pretty sure they would not put Mexicans in this room.
Requested to meet with the manager but was always”too busy”. Bumped into him and when he realized what I wanted he suddenly lost the ability to speak English.
Good restaurant upstairs, good pool area but pool is NOT maintained.
If it’s cheap enough worth taking a chance

NOT SAFE FOR SOLO TRAVELERS. You must wear a wristband stating the hotel's name to stay here. This makes it very unsafe to walk around town, especially as a single person. People could track me back to the hotel. This man's name is Rosalio. After we asked for a refund because it wasn't safe, he refused to let us stay in the room. You are not safe if you book here. Stay somewhere else!

Is the room safe big enough for a laptop?
Answer from Andrea L
Vancouver, Canada17 contributions13 helpful votes
There are no safes unfortunately. It's a very basic of basic type of room think less security than a motel...I'd probably hide the laptop in your luggage if that's the case. No key card door entry; just basic door knob lock. It's at your discretion if you feel comfortable leaving it there. Hope this helps!

Breakfast is not included. There's a small restaurant/cafe upstairs on the rooftop that serves all meals.
Answer from Sightsee710813

There is an elevator, 4 floors. But this is not a safe establishment. There is a woman who lives there and she is friends with the manager and a ring of transient Mexicans who steal and kidnap. I know - I was just there and it happened to me.
