The Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and prime location near the Malecon and downtown, offering guests a taste of local culture and easy access to nightlife. While the staff's friendly and attentive service is often commended, some guests have experienced slower service. Despite the hotel's cleanliness and ocean views being highlights for some visitors, reviews indicate the rooms may be on the smaller side, with noise and maintenance issues noted. Guests caution that the hotel's value is diminished by extra charges and mediocre offerings.

I have been coming to this resort since 2018. I really enjoy the location, as it is right near the Malecon (8-10 minute walk) with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants to stop at along the way. This year you could tell there was new management, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but experiences were different than they were in the past. Wristbands for premier members are now, orange, instead of silver. The wristbands now have your room key attached with a plastic chip, which makes it much easier than finding your room key in the bottom of your beach bag after a long day lol. The rooms were nice and clean. I do not recommend getting a room on the 1st or 2nd floor as it was very loud. The hallways echo at all hours of the day and night. In the past I have stayed on the 4th floor and didn't have this issue as much. One of the couples we were with had a room on the 4th floor and said only one night they experienced loud people yelling in the hallways. Unfortunately, every morning and night, the 1st and 2nd floor couples reported loud noises.
The food in the Buffet, was tasty, but got old quick. The variety of the food didn't change too much. The resort now has themed nights for dinners in the buffet, but similar foods were served, i.e international night and oriental night is the same menu.
The service throughout the resort was PHENOMENAL!! Everyone was so nice, friendly, fun, and welcoming. Victor at the adult pool bar was a lot of fun! He remembered me from the previous years and made our experience more fun and memorable.
Overall, a great time and excellent resort for a friends trip. This resort is geared perfectly for families I would say, but there is one small pool and bar that is Adult only.
Definitely recommend upgrading to get the premier bracelets (orange) to get up to the sky bar. The sky bar has top shelf drinks, fresh sushi, ceviche, and other snacks. We also learned they have a whole different menu for food up there. Great sunset view and wonderful photo opportunities. The orange bracelets come with your room if you booked a Deluxe Ocean View room. If you did not, you can purchase the bracelets for $150 pesos a day and you must purchase for your length of stay. This price came out to about $9 USD a day, depending on the exchange rate.
Another pro tip, there are many amazing restaurants within walking distance from the resort. El Andariego and Masa Madre were our favorites and were right across the street.

Of the best season in which one can go. Where the heat is not felt, there is less movement and we even had whale watching!

They have amenities to hire such as romantic dinner, wine room arrangement, balloons, petals and more. Very good work, very punctual. Order it in time for availability.

Located very close to the seawall, which made it easy for us to turn around.

The luxury staff, ALL in general, although I remember some who exceeded their kindness as Carlos, Isidro and Catherin; also "the lady with the eggs", people who left their mark.

Highly recommended, I love that they have no preference for place of origin.

Food is somewhat extensive but that makes them focus on the presentation and taste of what they offer.

The very comfortable room, your own bracelet is used as a key which made us take away that eternal slope of not misplace them. They fill your daily fridge at no cost, in addition to the respective cleaning.

Room service for a modest amount as a fee, which makes it not as late as other places.

100% satisfied.

A very nice hotel, medium size, sober rooms but with a wooden design and white colors, friendliness is present from the entrance, we went the first month of September, the weather had predicted rain but they were light and refreshing. Everything included, even beers and soft drinks in our minibar. On the lounge chairs on the beach we were served by the pleasant waiter Jorge Flores, "George", who brought us snacks without having to ask for them and drinks all day (meat burrito, guacamole and homemade French fries, not the frozen ones) . In the restaurant Eduardo, Gloria and Gustavo served us with great kindness. You have to get up early to have breakfast at the buffet because it fills up quickly and they send you to the one on the beach, both have the same food anyway. They ask you to make a reservation for dinner at either restaurant so they know how many people they can expect. There is a pool, two bars, and access to the beach with several lounge chairs (the Vallarta sea has many stones so the pool is a good option at some point during the day). The bracelet they give you is your key to the room and it is more functional. We arrived at this hotel for bestday and I would definitely return with my family once again.

We were at this resort from 5/25 through 5/30. First off let me start with the positive takeaways we had from this vacation. Celso on the beach was awesome and took care of us with drinks and food and was always one step ahead. Sofia in the Lobby bar and at the Sunset restaurant was always sweet and greeted us when she would see us. The food was fairly good and were were able to make reservations or get seated fairly quickly at the buffet. We liked having the wrist bands as our room keys so we did not have to worry about taking a key card with us everywhere. The location is perfect if you want to be downtown and a 15 minute walk to the Malecon and several restaurants and bars if you are looking for variety or more night life.

Now for the negatives we experienced. If you are looking for a bit of quiet and relaxation as we were, this resort is not for you. It is very loud and does seem to cater more to the locals. We were woke up several times a night by noises in the halls that echoed making you feel like people were having conversations right in your room and coming and going at all hours. The restaurant next door has live music until 11 or so. And a fire alarm in hall way seemed to go off every night for some reason. Beep 2-3 times then stop. Just enough to wake you up and startle you. The beach was not private and was overly populated with locals with their coolers and cases of beer outside of the roped in resort areas especially around sunset. That was our view at the Sunset Restaurant on the beach having a nice dinner. The beach is rocky and you need water shoes to even attempt to walk the beach. Vendors disregard the roped in lounge areas and still hassle you several times as you are trying to relax. We only swam in the pool once because it was overran by swarms of family members and a lot of kids that never seemed to get out of the pool. Needless to say we used the showers close to the beach to cool off when needed. The bar staff only spoke some English and were not very welcoming compared to other resorts we have been to. This is a smaller more boutique hotel but felt overly crowded and you had to be at the pool areas by 9-10 a.m. to get chairs. They had some cabanas but these were reserved for their "Privileged" time share owners only so we did not even have an option to reserve. Unfortunately, the bad outweighed the good and we will not be visiting this resort again.

I stayed at this resort approx. 5 yrs ago, & vowed that I"d never return. This time, I went with a friend, & put the 5yrs ago behind me. I will say the improvements are great!. The food is good, although not as hot as it should be. The biggest culprit here is when you first enter the dining room, the food on the very left is heated with small candles underneath. That does not keep food hot. Also, there are many times when the lids are not closed, which contributes to the problem. I spoke to concierge about this on 2 occasions but whether or not something was done about it, would remain to be seen. I would say "nothing" as we ate there every morning for breakfast & had the very same problem..cold food. They have a problem with pigeons getting into the dining area. The staff are chasing them away with whatever they have in their hands. Perhaps a sign on the door saying "please close the doors when you leave this room"., or something to that effect would help greatly. Having birds flying around bothers a lot of people., & I'm one of them. This could be considered a health issue.
Another problem I had was with housekeeping showing up late to clean the room. One day it was 4.50pm, then 4.15 the next. When it gets that time of day, we wanted to be in our room to relax after being out in the sun most of the day. We certainly didn't want housekeeping in our room at such late times. I brought this situation to the attention of the concierge. There were two of us sharing the room, so we needed 2 bath towels, 2 facecloths, 2 hand towels & a bath mat. Most times we were short on hand towels or a facecloth.
The stay itself was quite pleasant. We've already discussed returning next year around Chrismas time.

We have used this resort several times over past years and enjoy the location as we enjoy being able to walk to the Malecon Boardwalk . The wait staff were all friendly however a few stand out in particular Carlos who was our wonderful server on the beach. We enjoyed great service and a great sense of humour! Migel and Francia up in the Sky Lounge were also great.
It should be noted that the ‘adult pool’ now advertised is NOT the same pool as in previous years. The adult pool area that we enjoyed years ago is now a family area in addition to the larger pool area. The adult pool now is very small and was a complaint many adults traveling without children had.
Room cleaning, towel replacements and fridge replacements were a bit unreliable.
We enjoyed that there was entertainment of some kind every night however it could be quite loud at night depending on the room location.
There were usually plenty of beach loungers and unlike many other resorts we never felt the need to rush out and save them however the loungers ‘reserved’ by the staff for the Privileged Club people caused major confusion and some rather uncomfortable feelings. It is something we felt was unnecessary and perhaps one of our only complaints.
Would we return… yes.

I would not become a member at Buenaventura. There were very few member benefits compared to their sister hotel Villa Premiere. As a member, they booked me in a first floor room very close to the lobby so it sounded as if we were sleeping in lobby every day. The noises didn’t quiet down throughout the night either, I was woken up multiple times at 2 or 3 in the morning to people having conversations in the hallway. It didn’t help the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable.

In order to get a reservation at one of the restaurants you have to wait in a line at 9am the same day to hopefully get a dinner time at a reasonable hour. Because of this, I only had dinner at one of the non buffet restaurants once during my 6 night stay. The buffet food was what you would expect from an all inclusive buffet but the food at the pool was very disappointing. The best part of my stay was the staff. Jorge and Rudy took great care of my group at the pool making sure we weren’t left without drinks for long.

Overall, my group (which including family I brought to the hotel) made the best of our stay here, but I don’t see myself staying here again unless to bring kids.

This is the only resort we've ever stayed at more than once. Our loyalty stems from the amazing connections we've made with staff; Oscar in the lobby bartends at lightening speed, making the best concoctions and always wirh a smile. Celso is a server at the pool and super attentive, sometimes anticipating what you need. Aside from the people, the hotel continues to make upgrades year over year. Since last year, they have new sun umbrellas, more (new) pool loungers, tables and the white paint is maintained. Some say there's not enough variety in food but really, if you're willing to try everything, it's a lot and quite delicious. Gloria in the breakfast buffet can assist and so kind. She's a wonderful server, recalling everyones beverage of choice each day. Opportunities include needing steps in the adult pool. There is only one ladder. The hotel also needs real deal security, tenured members that stand guard at the front entrance and side by the alley next to the premiere resort. And the sunset restaurant at night needs to rotate the menu for the people that go more than twice.
