Las Palmas By The Sea is often commended for its cleanliness and the amicable nature of its staff, as well as its ideal location just a stone's throw from the beach and nearby Puerto Vallarta. The hotel buzzes with a lively atmosphere, particularly around the animated pools and the well-received Italiano restaurant. Despite the praise, some guests have reservations about the value, citing additional costs and outdated rooms. While rooms are generally found to be clean, noise and maintenance have been minor points of contention.

Hotel has basic standard rooms for cheaper prices. Rooms on the northern side (over the little bridges) definitely need updated bathrooms. Floor flooded each time we showered and had to use towels to wipe up the mess. Also this area gets the full blast of music pounding from a local disco between midnight and 5am. Bring earplugs if you are unlucky enough to get one of these rooms. Pay a bit more for an upgrade to a front balcony room where you may get a bit more peace and quiet.

Having and adult only pool is a good idea, away from the kids and loud music during the day. However, this is where all the smokers congregate so trying to find some 'fresh air' was a challenge. Similar situation on the beach as it was mainly adults who used it. Sitting at the bars was also subject to smokers. I was sitting with a friend at the main bar when a man sat down next to him. My friend said that this was the no smoking side. The man said 'too bad' and lit up a cigarette. How rude, but what can you expect from smokers. We had to move away from the smell.

We found all staff to be friendly and helpful. Special mention to David at the CoCo lobby bar. He worked tirelessly just as his reputation confirmed. He always remembered our special drink before we even asked. He is a definite asset to the hotel. Special mention also to Guardalupe whose constant smile and interaction was a pleasant reminder of how good service should be. Whether it was at the pool, the beach, the snacks, in fact anywhere, he made us smile.

No comments on the food. Most people know what to expect and you can make what you want of it. Personally we found it completely acceptable.

Overall not a bad experience. Hotel could do something about eliminating smoking in the lobby, entertainment area and at the lobby bar. Give the non smokers a break.

Will we stay again? Most likely not. We will miss David at the lobby bar though.

The highlights of our stay at this hotel were the friendly, accomodating staff, the beautiful waterfront location, the cleanliness of the hotel and the awesome service in the restaurants. The options for dining were good to very good. The buffet for breakfast and lunch always had stations where freshly cooked choices were available. For example, at breakfast, you could choose to have a freshly cooked omelet or pancakes or tortillas with fillings. A variety of fresh fruits, yogurt and granola and toppings were also available. The entertainent can be fun but varies in quality. Our room was situated in a location that was quite noisy. We likely could have been moved but we didn't pursue that path. The bus stops are located near the hotel and for 10 pesos you can be in Old Town or the Malecon in about 15 min. We spent a fair bit of time away from the hotel exploring the city and countryside.

Las Palmas by the Sea was suggested by our travel advisor who has spent a lot of time in Puerto Vallarta. We travelled our daughter, her husband and 1 1/2 year old daughter.

We contacted the hotel via email with concerns about room location and noise with a young child needing naps. The hotel representative got back to us right away and assured us that we would have two rooms beside each other and there would be a crib located in my daughter's room. I contacted her again with our concern about noise close to our rooms and she said we would be relocated to a quieter area. Excellent customer service.

This hotel is an older building but is very clean and well maintained. It is near the marina and is located right on the beach with excellent views of the sunsets from the dining areas and pools. Even got to view whales breaching right from our dining table. There 2 pools; one is adults only and the other is for families. Food and service in the buffet dining area is excellent as well as the 2 a la carte restaurants. Nightly entertainment shows are great for a smaller hotel.

We took a taxi several times to the Malecon for 80 pesos per trip for all of us. If looking to purchase vanilla, buy it right in the hotel for best price. Great liquor store 100 yards away at the corner.

If you are looking for a quiet, smaller hotel right on the beach in PV, give Las Palmas by the Sea a try.

We will be going back.

We were at Las Palmas by the sea,12/9/2020 through 12/15/2020 . We have stayed here many times before. It's an older Resort but it is very clean, and the staff has always been amazing. When we arrived Martin greeted us with "welcome back home ". Then they sanitized our luggage, & had us walk through a mat sanitizer, & get our temperature taken by the hand sanitizer dispenser. We would have to repeat this process whenever we went to the buffet or restaurant .  The buffet was covered with plexiglass & the servers all wore gloves and masks. We just pointed at whatever we wanted & they would get it for us. They also had plexiglass around The Omelette station, and the other stations. They had the floor marked for self distancing.  Our favorite waiter Ramon spoiled us by always having our table that for us with our drinks, & would get our French toast or omelette for us. He always remembers our name. We were required to wear our masks while in the building & elevators.  We were also required to wear your mask while walking around the resort unless you were in the pool area or pool. There what's a restriction on how many people could be in the pool area  at a time They didn't have the wait staff bringing you drinks at the pool, when we were there in December.  In the evening we couldn't set or stand at the bar. We would sit at the tables near by or on the Seawall to drink. The bartenders we're always paying attention, & would make sure we were always taken care of. Thumbs up Daniel, Eduardo, & Dave. We had a wonderful trip & can't wait to be back there in February.

This resort was very clean, affordable, accommodating, and in a perfect location, and fun all around. The resort has a spa, and the messages are amazing, you can have a message by the pool or in the spa area.

I felt very safe in this area, I went for a 3 hour walk off the resort and I felt safe the whole time. I found some little markets off the beaten path, and the prices at these places was amazingly cheap. 👍🏻

In the lobby bar, David the bartender is AMAZING. He is the best bartender, always happy, smiling, and very quick. Love him, I will come back to the resort to see David.

At the pool bar there is no other bartender Like Edgar, he was always smiling, singing and dancing. I never had to wait for a drink, once he knew what I was drinking, he always had it ready.

The waiters are so personable, very helpful and the biggest entertainment. Pedro kept us laughing and having fun. He has the best personality to get you started in the morning at Breakfast. He always involved the other staff to have fun too.

If you like shrimp, you will have to try the shrimp 🍤 that Inez carries around and sells on the beach and around the pool. They are at the top of my list as the best shrimp I have tasted.

Santiago made sure we always had safe transportation, he would explain where to go and we’re to get dropped off safely.

The food and restaurant meals were all amazing. We would eat breakfast, lunch and snacks at the buffet, but for dinner we always made a point to make a reservation at one of the restaurants on the resort. The meals they serve at the restaurants are 5 star meals.

The view from the room was breathtaking, in the morning and ohhhhh so beautiful at night. They kept the entertainment fun and light and accessible to all ages. Poker by the pool. I will stay here again.

We were vacationing at Las Palmas by the sea  February 4th-27th 2020. It is our favorite place to go to. We love it there. The rooms are older but kept clean. The staff is amazing & friendly, they always make you feel welcome & at home. I'd like say a special thank you to Ramon on the wait staff, he always takes excellent care of us, & he even remembered our names from last year. It's like going to visit friends. When he was not there  Salvador took great care of us. Breakfast was great Rosa makes the best omelettes & there is plenty of fresh fruits. We love the fresh guacamole, salsa, hanbugars, hotdogs, & French fries at the snack bar for lunch or having shrimp spears by the pool. There isn't a lot of variety at the buffet, but I could always find some thing to eat. We can't say enough about the bartenders( Armando, Eduardo , Daniel & Hector) at the beach bar. After a few times  they will remember your name and what you drink & see that you are well taken care of. We sat at the adult pool ( which is heated😎) most of the time & (Guadalupe & Inez) we're always making sure you had a drink or what ever you needed. The beach staff was always cleaning & making sure you are having a wonderful

We stayed at Las Palmas from March 11-18th. Overall we had a nice stay, they staff was friendly, our room was very clean and we had a nice view over the adult pool to the ocean. We travelled with our 2 daughters one who is 14 the other a year and a half old. I must hightlight 2 of the staff that were fantastic... Antonio who works at the front foyer he was wonderful with our toddler he was kind, friendly went out his way to speak to her and play little games she wanted to go and see him everyday especially when he was feeding Maya and Molly the two parrots. Pauline the staff in the kids club was fantastic, she made sure both girls had activities that entertained them, she would come and chat to us everyday to see how we were doing and enjoying our stay a very genuine young lady. The entertainment staff at the pool were so much fun and engaging they made hanging out at the pool very enjoyable !!
The location of the hotel was great we could walk to the outdoor mall that was not far up the road we enjoyed going walking everyday to the little shops up the street and it was not a long or expensive taxi ride to the malacon.
There were only a few downsides that I would mention to the Las Palmas ... the first one was there was only 2 english channels on the tv and they were both american news channels which is not ideal at night when you have children and they don't have anything to watch before bed. The only other thing that we were not a fan of was having the time share staff constantly coming to speak to you everyday to convince you to go see their presentations even after letting them know that we were not interested, they were friendly and polite but would not accept no as our answer, also the airtansat rep was not able to provide much communication as the communication he was provided was given to him in french and he was unable to translate it to inform the guests of travel updates.
We would love to return to the Las Palmas again next year for another stay !

My bf and I stayed for 12 days starting Jan 6th. I cautioned him to not book this hotel as I had stayed here 19 years ago and didn't like it then (the food was terrible) but we hoped it had improved. It didn't. Not even a little.
I have been travelling to Mexico for over 20 years, I have stayed in everything from budget to 5 star all inclusive. I grew up in a poor family and have reasonable expectations when it comes to food. The buffet was disgusting and disappointing with very few choices and basically the same thing everyday. Raw hot dog wieners on lettuce is a salad?? Anyone who claims it was good was obviously drunk or has no taste buds. I wondered if I was the only one who thought the food was awful so I started asking other guests. I couldn't find one person who thought it was anywhere near decent.

SMOKING - The place is filled with smokers. It's very hard to escape the smell. We were constantly surrounded by smokers no matter where we sat. I used to smoke for many years but this was overwhelming because it is quite a small resort.
ROOMS - Stay away from room 150. All night I felt like I had bugs crawling on me in bed. The shower curtain kept no water in the shower and so every shower we took flooded our bathroom, literally!. We had to request extra towels every day to soak it up. It was slippery and dangerous. There was no bathroom fan and every night, all night, the toilet made a horrible screeching noise that kept waking me up. Don't even get me started on the shower head. I felt like I was getting beaten up. It was awful. This was the second room we moved to and I didn't want to move a third time.

The service was hit and miss. The location is good and if you don't mind a good walk, you can easily walk into town. The beach is decent but there isn't enough chairs for everyone and they won't let you bring them down; they literally stopped my boyfriend from doing so.

The internet works in the lobby and by the pool but not in your room.

I heard a rumor that they plan to tear down this hotel to expand the one next door. I highly recommend that they do.

First off, I have to laugh at the bad reviews because of “bad wifi” and “my ocean view was blocked by palm trees” , if that’s your issue, stay home and sit on your deck with your wifi and palm tree free view.

My %110 love of this resort is the staff, from the guest services to the bar tenders, to the security and the young pool boy who lines up the beach chairs, they were AMAZING! It is a smaller resort and this is what we LOVED about it, all the staff know who you are and remember what you like and want. With its size you get to know all the people staying there, make great friends and great memories. The food was good, I’m sure you could get more 5* food at another resort but it could not replace the friendliness and fun of this resort! The entertainment staff is great in getting people involved, they had my son joining in things he would never have done with out their encouragement.

The rooms are hotel rooms, the beds are decent and the balcony is good , if I went to Mexico on vacation for my room and balcony then I may as well have stayed at home, these are the least of my priorities.

The drinks are always flowing, they will always do what they can to make your stay amazing and we are already looking at dates to go back!

Thank you las palmas for our amazing vacation!

I have stayed at the Las Palmas By The Sea 10 different times and each time has been amazing. The food, pools and rooms are exactly as advertised. What makes this resort stand out in my experience is the tremendous staff that take pride in their work. This pride makes them want to insure everyone who stays there has a tremendous experience. I call the Las Palmas my "home" and I can't wait to get back there whenever I can due to the tremendous job done by all the staff. I do, however, want to mention the tremendous bar staff of David, Eduardo (Lalo), Daniel, Armando, Hector, Fidel and Pablo. They are true professionals but they are also all-round fun people who love to interact with their guests to create a memorable experience. I also want to mention the staff that serve the pool and beach - Guadalupe, Edgar and Inez - for their great service and friendliness. Led by the Capitans Toro and Yolanda, the wait staff in the restaurants are always happy to see you and great you by name. Pedro and Alejandro are two of my favourite waiters. And who can forget the breakfast cook Rosa, who can juggle the omelet and egg orders of three people at a time. She is remarkable! Like I always say if you want a Five Star experience, don't come here. Do yourself and everyone else a favour and go somewhere else. But if you want great service, good food and a vacation to remember the Las Palmas By The Sea is the place to be!
