Amazing, beautiful, and well cared for hotel, in the midst of the action. Only one block to Los Muertos beach. Promoted as a gay friendly hotel, even single female travelers like me were welcomed in. Spotlessly clean. Amazing breakfasts and the home of the most famous Sunday Drag Brunch in all of Jaliisco/Nayarit. I actually live in Jalisco now, but had guests at my condo, so spent some time in other romantic zone/olas altos area hotels. It was worst of high season>Christmas to New Years holidays, but this turned out to be the best deal around.

I used to stay in this hotel before I got my own condo. I now go there regularly for early evening drinks. Prices are competitive and atmosphere is fun. Sunday after noons can be a bit noisy for these old ears however the DJ is quick to adjust the volume if there is a comment to either bartenders or the music master. It is reassuring to see the owner Paul in regular attendance and the continuity of staff. There are regularly tourists from Mexico and Spanish and Portuguese countries in South America. Most patron have some English so conversation can be fun and enlightening. Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile have been represented this winter. Of course it is popular with USA and Canadian visitors or temporary residents. The building is an original Mexican style with centre court yard with pool and trees. People are relaxed here and very social whether you are seated at a table or the bar. There is a small area set aside for persons who wish to smoke. The usual Covid screening is carried out at the hotel entrance, tables are regularly disinfected. Bar patrons are free to use the pool and can be served drinks while in the pool. Mercurio bar makes for a relaxing safe evening.

What a great stay for a few nights last weekend! I consider a lot of things when traveling outside of the US - safety, LGBT friendly, race equality, proximity to the city/nightlife being most important. I MUST SAY I felt very welcomed by Paul and the entire staff! From my arrival, EVERYTHING WAS SPOT ON! Easy check-in, assistance with luggage, and I got the exact room I requested in my reservation. The attention given to me was excellent and very personable....better than a major hotel chain! My room was cleaned well (Luis, I think), the food was absolutely delicious - special mention to the breakfast crew every morning @ 8/830, drinks were great, the Sunday evening DJ with the nice hair rocked the music, was very nice & cute 😍, and the guys at the front desk were always friendly and helpful as I was in & out a lot 🤷🏽‍♂️ Paul is to be commended and rewarded for this safe space and gathering spot for our community. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK after the Covid testing mandate is lifted, and Im sure they will remember this chocolate brown man 🌈🖤🤎💛💚❤️💜

I have been to Zona Romantica several times but this is the first time I elected to stay at Hotel Mercurio. The entire staff I encountered while there for five nights were so friendly and helpful. Kudos to Jorge for a nice welcome cocktail upon arrival. The Sunday drag brunch was delightful, though I did leave a bit early to go to the beach. Very attentive service from the crew, including Edy on Sunday :) Breakfast was always consistent and the option for eggs Benedict on Sunday was a nice treat. I did elect to have my room cleaned every other day just to minimize contact, but when the room was cleaned, I was satisfied with the result. I was sad to leave today, but I do plan to be back here in March, and I look forward to seeing the lovely staff of Hotel Mercurio when I return for another stay. This location is unbeatable and next to so much to do!!!!

I had a great time staying at the Mercurio for a week in September. I have been there several times. The location and friendly staff can't be beat! My room was very clean...and cleaned every single day. Staff always had face masks and there was hand sanitizer at the front door. They gave me beach towels and umbrellas when I needed. They had spaced out their courtyard tables. Guests were still expected to wear masks except when eating or drinking. There were tapes keeping guests evenly spaced from the bar and breakfast. It all seemed highly organized and friendly. I ate in my room a few nights. The food was absolutely fresh and fantastic. I plan on going back ASAP.
